Which of these lenses would you buy and why?
Hi Ralph. A quick correction on focusing distance myths. In this case, the nearest focusing distances. That distance isn't measured from the front of the lens to the subject, it's measured from the focal plane to the subject. The focal plane (front of the sensor) and that is marked on the top of your Nikon body by a thin short line on one side or the other of the (view)finder. Get a tape measure & prove it to yourself.
Good call. Thanks mate 👍
Just bought the Tamron for doing some professional events and corporate photography and videography work. Your video was a big factor in going with this over the 24-70 f/2.8 S and so far, I'm absolutely glad I did. I do kinda mess the 24-27mm but other than that, the sharpness, light weight and performance at $999 is just unbeatable. Big thank you!
Hey Charles. I’m happy for you mate. That’s great news!!
I'm looking for two lens comparison so long and many thanks for sharing. It is very helpful to make decision to balance cost and quality. Great job!
Fantastic. Great to hear. Thanks.
Thanks mate, great review. Tamron seems like a good companion for my Z5
Absolutely. A great combo.
Спасибо огромное, Ральф. Все думал, тамрон брать или никон который в два раза дороже. Буду покупать тамрон.
так рад, что смог помочь
Thank you Ralph.
My pleasure.
Great review. I'd go with the Tamron.
(that GD dust spot!) 😁
Hahaha I’ve finally cleaned the sensor!
I am looking to upgrade my tamron 17-50 2.8 on my z6ii think I might go with the tamron again! Can’t justify the Nikon price great video thanks!
The Tamron is a very solid offering. My pleasure.
Great review! The Tamron is a winner, no doubt! 👍👍
Thank you. I agree.
Just grabbed the Tamron 28-75 G2 for ~740 EUR in a local promo, similar to current EU summer promo on the 28-75 G2 E-mount version (699 E). Just didn't make sense to throw 2k on the Nikon now. Plus I can adapt all of my 77mm filters... dooh.
Sounds wise to me. Well done 👍
Where did you find summer promo? I cannot find it anywhere in EU :/ Thanks for answer

Can someone explain why Nikon 28-75 also is much cheaper than 24-70?
Also I always thought, that 24-70f4 would be nice for not proffesional use eslecially because of weight, now this tamron looks very interesting as well :o
I have the f4 and it’s a great lens but the f2.8 seems to make a huge difference.
Because it's also tamron 28-75 (but 1st generation) with "nikon" nameplate on it
Please change your channel name to Monkey Out of a Hat 🐵😆
Quick note on measuring minimum focus distance, that’s measured from the sensor plane. Only mention that because it brings the Tamron even closer, which is really impressive for this price point.
Bahahahha love it!!
Good call. Thanks legend.
....i am from india ......i think Quality 97% to 98% same .....so tamron lens 98% also very good for photography ....save money... 🔍🔍
Yep 👍
LOL, why would you compare a mid level Tamron to Nikon's flagship 24-70. People are obviously going to go for the cheaper option if they're not pros - which is the majority of the population. If anything, compare it to Nikons version of the 28-75
You could help everyone out with an argument as to why to go for the Nikon 🤷🏼♂️
28mm is not wide enough for me but may be great for others 🙂 Great channel you have here, such an underrated gem with tons of useful info! 👏
I hear what ur saying. That extra 4mm can be extremely handy. Thanks so much for saying that. I really appreciate it.
@@RalphMayhewPhotography Would you consider the Nikon 24-120/F4
I would, but I really, really like 2.8 or higher.
@@dannytsui1105 It depends on your needs. I have one and it's a perfect all-rounder.
You can pair it with excellent Nikkor 17-28mm f2.8. Also Tamron design.
