I usually have a vague idea in mind before saying anything, but I can’t form complete sentences before I say it because otherwise, it wouldn’t escape my mouth, like an extreme case of stuttering because then I would have too many things too say and only one mouth that is not fast enough to say it

So can relate with Tom that's how I chat with a good friend (who's luckily a very supportive INFJ). I tend to talk and ramble nonstop whenever something interesting a topic pops up in our conversation. It often takes a while before I realize I'm rambling or talking animatedly (not loudly, just animatedly) and some people nearby even get to notice. It's embarrassing but yeah.

I just want you to know I can confirm this is 100% genuine Tom. I met him backstage in NYC when he doing the Broadway run of Betrayal in 2019. It was a Saturday, so he had already done two shows, plus stage door meets, *and* an NPR appearance. He spoke to me for twenty minutes after I told him that looking forward to the play kept me going while receiving chemo for stage IV cancer. He only ever broke eye contact when talking to the family friends who had got me backstage. He signed things, took pictures, and at the end of it all opened his arms, offering a hug. I went in and he squeezed back so tight and wholesomely patted my upper back.
As an INFP... It gives me immense immeasurable joy to know Tom is an INFP too.

I also notice how he puts so much thoughts into his answers really going through every single part of the question he's being asked, and his vocabulary is so amazing I feel so stupid whenever I'm listening to him talk.
He has access to a lot of ideas and information through his education and culture; for example, one can learn a lot through reading newspapers even once a week, listening to the radio (in Britain), or watching television (the BBC, Channel 4). He probably reads a lot of books. Here in Ireland, I can learn a lot listening to radio, particularly the programmes early at weekend, on science, business, indepth discussion of events. That's part of the culture here.

I am an INFP and I share some of the mannerisms like animated facial expressions, interrupt people to express my thoughts (feel bad about it), cover my face when embarrassed (it just shows upon my face), disconnect from the environment and clumsily stammer when nervous. Although I wish I was more accommodating to the environment than my inner world. Anyway, thank you so much Eric for this video, this helped me a lot ❤️

I thought that it was something of enfp... I mean, I tried it in different webs and my results were always enfp (althought I´m only 58% extrovert and 42% introvert), now I´m confused...
@@AndreaGarcia-ng7vg enfp’s are often some of the most introverted of the extroverts! It’s pretty common to have mixed 50/50 results on the introvert extrovert spectrum as an ENFP! Totally normal!

(I would invest in salad bar/taco bar/sandwich bar/buffet options on a spin wheel if I were you. The power is that of the game, and people can still have more customized options.)
As an infj, my counterpart has always been deadpool (entp). The sarcasm just gets me in a way that no others can get.
Seeing that the beloved Tom and Timothee are INFP makes me realize that people only adore INFP’s when their on the big screen. Reality is much different.
I would disagree, I think INFPs are too hard on themselves and how people see them. And every type gets stereotyped in the mbti community, that's coming from an ESTJ.
Also, Tom and Timothee and many other talented INFP actors and musicians are real people, and fans who have met them in real life say they're nice people, so that is real life.

I always felt drawn to his energy and personality, and knowing Tom is an INFP makes me happy. You can sense he's very authentic, and the stammering and interrupting people to put forth/connecting ideas is very relatable as an INFP.
I love being infp and at the same time I ashamed of it! and always I don't know how to express myself. seeing tom doing it make me hopeful.
When I was younger, I used to get a little ashamed of myself in hindsight. Now that I'm older, I just embrace it. On the whole, other people seem to react well to our personality type and see our thoughtfulness and authenticity as endearing traits--for those who don't, we don't really need them in our lives.
As for Tom, I just find him lovely and delightful, so full of ideas and genuineness.

From one INFP to another, I think a reason he sometimes interjects or interrupts people is because he has such a feeling and perspective nature. So he feels in depth with the conversation and feels he knows what you’re going to say, which helps move the conversation along. Plus I know that a slight interruption is better than an awkward silence.
I can relate with being carried away when talking about something that interests me. Sometimes I don't notice until a friend tells me how I went from super quiet to enthusiastic 😅

The words you're looking for is ad lib. This requires one to think externally and internally and follow the progress of a conversation. Actors and comedians do this, the reason that Tom is so likeable is because he seeks to add to the conversation, and not to take it over.

This capability of Tom's to not just recycle the text but to attentitevly follow the conversation and expand on ideas is making the people around him feel seen and heard and vicariously it makes us allso feel seen and heard. Ugh i relate a lot to Tom! The other day, a person did something that bothered me a lot and i immediately felt my mood switching from happy to devastated. From being funny, upbeat and talkative, i became quiet and serious. The switch was so apparent in my face, people asked me if i was okay

I think this is Tom’s inferior Te kicking in as he gets older and more mature, and, as you rightly point out, as he has come to recognise that as a very public figure, allowing his Fi to entirely take the reigns can be somewhat divisive and/or embarrassing for him, or can lead to people getting the wrong idea of him. Regarding the impressions, he has commented that he’s not an impressionist, but rather an actor. I think that’s telling; giving in to doing them all the time was leading to it being expected of him, when, as an Ne user, what he really wants to do is discuss his ideas on acting, on his characters and on human experience as a whole. This has meant that he’s using his inferior Te to, in a sense, keep himself in check. This is common for INFPs as they get older. While a person’s type - ie, their specific set of preferred functions - doesn’t change over the course of their life, the way they behave on the surface often does to some extent due to experiences and the maturity that naturally comes with age, as they learn to develop and more confidently use functions that are weaker.
This explains a lot because I've had a lot of bad experiences with people reacting badly because of my Si and my Te is working most of the time to stop me from embarassing myself. It's so exausting! The world is really not ready for authentic feelers. I feel bad for Tom. Hope we can stop caring for the cynics of the world and just be ourselves.
