    Both are rare types, although INFJs are inherently built against the grain. The “chameleon” like nature and the ability to read the room and people effortlessly are defense mechanisms because they inherently feel out-of-place and simultaneously look the part all the time. They very rarely let people in enough to see the full depths of their varied personality. They understand human nature extremely well. INFJs can be extremely emotional, but also extremely analytical. They can be both extremely intense or extremely passive, but they are always observing you and your actions. They generally interact with the world in a “laissez faire” mindset, until something triggers a passion and they begin moving mountains to see their “vision” become reality.

      I think a lot of these things really apply to both types from experience and even by nature of the theory MBTI is based off of. INFP and INFJ just do and experience these things in different ways and you can break this down with an understanding of cognitive functions and how they operate (including shadow functions). But idk if you’re familiar or not

    I'll add another attraction that may be related to the authenticity. INFJs can not only see the persona and feelings of someone just through observation but their intent as well. It's very distracting when you are talking to someone who is acting friendly, but there is a hair trigger anger you are picking up on. Or someone is very nice and charming, but you suspect it's to butter you up for selfish motivation. I used to dismiss it as insecurity, but INFPs don't tend to trigger me in this way, and they will be the first ones to tell you how low their self-esteem is. So the INFP having a more consistent alignmentment with the mask they show to the world vs. their true feelings make them pleasant to be around.

    I am an INFP and have a brother that is an INFJ. The girl I like is an INFJ but she seems to choose broken men because maybe she wants to help them. Turns out INFJ’s needs INFP’s so that’s why we find them so easily. INFJ’s will leave the friendship quicker then an INFP can make a decision for what to eat for dinner. The sad part is that an INFJ doesn’t have many close friends because they think they have a high standard, but the truth is they think they are unworthy of love. They believe they are helping others but are scared to be helped.

    • @johnstorton
      @johnstorton ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I'm an INFJ. I agree with everything you said except, "INFJ’s will leave the friendship quicker than an INFP can make a decision for what to eat for dinner." This is not true, but to those they leave, it may seem so. An INFJ can take a LOT of abuse. They can take it and take it and take it. They may contemplate leaving the relationship for a loooong time. They may give warnings (usually subtle) to the other person that (whatever) is getting under their skin. When the other person does not take heed, the INFJ will finally give up and walk away. (Even INFJs can only take so much.) This is called the "INFJ door slam." (You can find plenty about this online.) So, the build-up to leaving is very, very slow, but the final decision may SEEM abrupt.
      I will, however, agree with your statement in regard to rarer occasions/SERIOUS violations, such as your bf/gf cheated on you, or your friend betrayed you in a major way. But isn't everybody like that?

    • @shannon1242
      @shannon1242 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You're an INFJ in a crowded room and start talking to people one by one, picking up certain things about them and tailoring what you share based on what you are picking up. Most of the people you can tell aren't that interested in talking about the things that you are the most interested in until you get to the INFP (also can apply to INTPs and ENFJs) and you are picking up that they want to talk about that super interesting thing others aren't interested in. The INFJ is going to make more of an effort than normal to try to befriend that person, so it makes sense that INFPs have more INFJs in their lives than other types.

    great vid. love my INFPs. they are probably my favourite type because they put me at ease. INTJs can be too reserved and paranoid but INFPs are lighthearted and warm. my mum is an INFP and my dad is INFJ too so it's something i've seen in my life.

    sitting here, bing watching Andy videos. Seeing the male version of myself is sooo validating! I want to scream..WHERE ARE YOU, but being an infp 9w1 sometimes 8, I totally understand that you're away and may not come back to youtube. Or may you come back 5 months or years from now....either way I know that your path is being directed. I've been nourished by your content and feel deep gratitude for the commitment of energy that was surrendered to express your genuine truth.

    @lindseym.8074 2 ปีที่แล้ว +80

    I'm an INFJ and can relate to everything you said about INFJs and what I appreciate about INFPs. I've experienced such deep connections with INFPs because they create a safe space for me to share my weirdest ideas and emotions and it's so liberating. Just wanted to add that when it comes to being an emotional sponge, for me it's like having an out of body experience when I pick up on others' emotions, almost like I become them for a second. It doesn't feel overwhelming unless someone has negative energy. And it's like an emotional analysis, so I think about all of the strings attached to those emotions, the causes, intentions, motivations, circumstances, etc etc. My ability to empathize deepens significantly over time when I've had time to reflect on their character and imagine being in their shoes.
    It's interesting to think about how INFP empathy is different. You pay so much attention to your own emotions that you can pick up on the micro expressions of others and intuit how they're feeling because you've been there. Which is kind of nerve wracking for me because I like to keep my feelings hidden most of the time, but it's also nice to think if I need someone to empathize with me, INFPs could help with that. For me, it's more like I'm picking up on the overall atmosphere and vibe, which takes time to piece together and understand. So I might viscerally pick up on a feeling but have no idea where it's coming from unless I take time to analyze it.

      I certainly see what you are saying. I am currently dating an INFJ, and we just "get" each other. We seem to be complementary yet quite similar enough to have quite a mutual understanding of each other. When I am with her... time just doesn't exist. The last about two days felt like a whole year. I just get lost with her, wherever she is, and for her wherever I am. She and I have had this inexplicable connection. We dated for 5 months before a split for almost a year. Just got back together almost a week ago. We had dreams about each other in that time apart and thoughts as well. Something there just clicks for both of us. I think it is due to shared goals and outlooks on life. Different metrics and how to get there but similar goals nonetheless. To learn to grow from each others process and to possibly create a better future for all involved. It has been great so far! Oh yeah, to mention; I am an INFP 4w5 sx/so. That may help, too! But anyway, it's a great dynamic and one that I won't forget.

    "Most of those things come true after 5-6 years" THIS. THIIIIS SUMS UP MY LIIIIFE, i swear my whole life i have been saying this, that i always notice things, notice patterns in society or some social issue or human behavior and im able to deduce how it will end up but i dont have enough proof for it just an innate intuitive certainty and then years later society starts becoming aware of it and talking abt it and its always sooo validating

    I would like to say a lot but I'll stay only at this. We complete and we can learn from each other. Infjs have more the sence, infps the mind. Infjs focus outside of them, infps inside. Infjs flying at their dreams in the sky, infps have their feet on the ground. I believe is the perfect match if they are heald. If not it's a disaster. When infp is on his dark side wake up the infjs dark side or sensitivity hits red. Put your Ego down and learn from each other to be a better person and achieve big goals.

    I'm also an INFP, 9w1. The idea that INFPs can turn off that awareness of other people's feelings was interesting. I always thought that was a 9 quality in myself. Like, I'm not a 2! I always help people who come to me for help, but I don't go out looking for ways to be helpful -- if that makes sense.

    Hello fellow INFP-t. If you like music sooo much, I recommend you spend the next year (kind of joking) checking out Zhou Shen. He's an ENFP Chinese singer, and he hits the INFP's heart.
    You could listen to these for starters:
    Memory
    Possible Night
    Big Fish
    Ring the Doorbell
    Baby Goodbye
    Dalabengba
    Moon Legend
    No Fear in my Heart
    Captain Kabule
    Cowboy Gone Missing
    Love like a Looking Glass
    Forbidden City
    Under Investigation
    Red Rose
    Walk towards the Light
    Rebel Princess OST
    Love of a Thousand Years OST
    Sword and the Brocade OST
    Cocoon
    Cliff Hangers
    Zoobi Doobi
    Paradise Island
    Miss Crow and Mr Lizard OST
    Battle through the Heavens
    [There are at least 300 more of his songs, and they are unbelievably good...he's the very best in the world, in my opinion.]

    Your description of INFPs is very good. I did relate to it a lot. 🙂
    As INFP, I really feel like I "nurture" something better and beautiful inside my "inner world", that I want to express to others one piece at a time, and let it affect real world by that. For some reason, I think that is my purpose, and finding it makes me feel very calm and "where I should be".
    Much appreciated, and lots of love! ❤

    As a woman, I don't like when someone says "you like me more than I like you" That's an immediate "gonna cut u out of my life soon" for me.
    Edit: nah man, doesnt sound like u know infjs. We have too much integrity whereas infps are the ones in the background and shy ones. The part about "standing up for what u believe in" only infps think they do it, other channels plus infjs think infjs almost dedicate their lives to a humanitarian cause they believe in more. That involves standing upto the wrong.

    Your statement that INFPs can see the end of the race but also be in the race reminds me of Whitehead's view of time going into eternity. Time is the race. Eternity is the end of the race. Time goes into eternity to make actual occasions which become eternal objects. The soul is constantly becoming or evolving by this method.

So unless your INFP girl is not a rude person in general, she will HIGHLY respect and appreciate you confessing to her in first place. I don't like the focus on rarity some people have. You have the same chance of being rare or not (but that's the point of rarity -you say- there is a lower percent chance) Well.. you have 50% of being not rare and 50% of being rare because you either are or you are not. There are many types of rare. INFJ may only be (formerly) the rarest because we are walking contradictions confused about ourselves and how to be. Until we reach a point where we trust and can use our Ni-Ti and incorporate our Fe-Se more healthily and understand our seeminly-malfunctioning selves (to ourselves we feel so malfunctioning even if it isn't true or at least for me)
    This was a total aside from the subject if the video and I'm glad that you think beyond that. I agree with a lot of points you have made and have no further critique :)
