    Great job on this repair. I have been delaying this repair on my wife's Murano because the factory parts are so expensive. The Dorman actuators are pretty pricey too. I see that Rockauto is finally stocking some aftermarket door lock actuators (made by Ultra-Power and Shee-Mar) that run from $38 to $57 so I'll attempt this repair very soon. The aftermarket actuators can't be any worse than the super expensive Nissan factory actuators (which failed way too soon in my opinion).

    Nice job Tony. I have a 1995 Pathfinder 4X4 and the door locks are still the originals. The Pathy as I call it has over 270,000 on the odometer. So far I've only changed a few pulleys, a water pump, O2 sensor and the usual stuff like brake pads and it's still running strong. I also have the 2014 Murano and I love it except the Environmental System. In the winter I have to run it on defrost or the windows fog up. It also has a factory clunk when I start to move fwd from a stop. I took it to the dealer and they said its normal. They even showed me a Service Bulletin to prove it. It doesn't effect the way it drives, it's just irritating. Other than that I love the Murano and if that's all that I have to complain about I'll take it any day over my Dodge "Fix-it AGAIN Caravan."
    Anyway nice again, hope my locks keep working. Best Wishes n Blessings. Keith

    Hey Tony, thank you for this super helpful video. I changed the front passenger actuator of my Murano and it was a pain in the ass, but your video made it a lot easier. The front has a couple of additional complications but the process and parts were pretty much the same. It took me 2.5 hours and I am sure you saved me a couple more if I hadn't watch your video.

      Hey Alfredo! I really like your feedback! Because I am gonna fix the same door than you. What are the complication you have faced ? Cheers

    • @Trxckzey
      @Trxckzey ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brunoschell6827don’t know if you have changed it yet but it has to do with the window motor & the brackets that holds the window are mounted to a plate that’s on that inside of the door. & to get to the actuator to replace it you have to unscrew everything . Putting it back together can be tricky if you don’t know what goes where

    Very good explanation I really appreciate it. I will try to do this myself, working in the back of my Altima will be a pain as the door is locked but will manage somehow. I still feel Nissan should be responsible for this problem regardless of the age of the Vehicle, as it is a safety issue if in an emergency you cannot exit the vehicle. Nissan need to look at a fail-safe that leaves the door unlocked, because if it happens to the front doors then that will lead to major situations. Thank you again and to all the other people who have donated their time and effort.

    Hi Tony thank you for your reply. I am hoping that when I get the door panel off, and disconnect the two cables from the inside door release and the L shaped end that goes into the door panel latch, that i can pull this door latch cable to release the actuator and perhaps open my door. Then complete the work on the outside door handle etc. If this don't work, then not sure what to do, but thinking positive right.

    Great video!
    I am replacing the OEM actuator with a Dorman actuator on a 2009 Murano. I have installed the actuator and I am reassembling. The captured screw that you access through the side of the door ( mentioned at 4:33 in your video) that secures the door lock/handle into place will not tighten. I am unable to get this screw into the threads. I am considering breaking the screw free and removing it in order to be able to see the alignment of the threads on the door lock. Is there a better technique? DId you have any difficulty getting this screw into position and tightening it down?
    Thanks!

    • @tonyzee1195
      @tonyzee1195  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      J B hi, the captive screw threads into the small part of the door handle mentioned at 4:38. I would suggest to install this screw before the other screw mentioned at 4:09. Keep trying, try to slide the handle assembly aft and you'll get the threads to engage. install the screws loosely and tighten them up after you get them all started. hopefully that makes sense, good luck!

    • @tonyzee1195
      @tonyzee1195  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      J B one more thing, I would not try to break the captive screw free. if you continue to have trouble then I would suggest to take it back out of the car and assemble it on the bench so you can better see how it goes together

    The door lock actuator for the Murano with the Intelligent Key is a whole bunch cheaper than the on for the car without that feature. $121 versus $202. Any idea what the actual differences are, or if the cheaper one will work in both applications?

      IKR!!! Actually I have the same question cuz my front driver's door lock needs to be replaced. I suspect the wiring harness may be different. You'd think the one WITH the intelligent key would cost more. I will prolly just bite the bullet and shuck out the extra $

    Hi can you tell me when the door opened while you where working on it? did you pull on one of the cables to snap the lock open? until I can get it open I cannot get to the Torx screws in the door frame. look forward to your reply thank you

    • @tonyzee1195
      @tonyzee1195  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, one cable is for the lock and the other cable is for the door latch. If you're pulling on the door latch and it won't open, then it's probably locked, so all you need to do is push/pull on the lock cable

  • @ELEVOPR

    Can these Actuators be freed, do they really need to be replaced? Can some kind of lubricant loosen them up or maybe opening it up and seeing what the problem is? Anyone ever tried it? Just asking, i don't mind payimg for a new Actuator, but if it doesn't need to be replace, why do it.
    Nissan is making some cheap parts, I have a 2003 FX45.,
    This car costs 65K new with all the bells and whitsles. My FX45 only has 68k miles on it and i have to replace rear passenger door Actuator and Gas Tank Acuator. That is unacceptable. Nissan or Infiniti isn't what it used to be.
    I just can't believe they use Same Actuator on a 35k Murano as a 65k FX45. That's some bull right their :o/
    I am going to start looking at other cars besides Infiniti's this coming 2018.

      The hatch on my 07 Murano wouldn't unlock. I could manually unlock by crawling into the rear hatch and push that manual button while push the hatch itself. After replacing the hatch mechanism to no avail, I took it to a shop that specializes in electrical issues. They confirmed my Murano had power to the BCM (body control module). Wire diagrams showed Nissan routed the rear hatch through the front passenger door actuator! Confirmed that it had power to the rear hatch from the BCM to the actuator but NOT after the actuator. They jumped the wires, bypassing the actuator, and the rear hatch worked. So they are assuming that the front passenger door actuator is faulty. Went to the junk yard and removed two passenger door actuators from two 07 Muranos (watched this video in the junkyard to get them off - Thanks Tony Zee). I'm about to try removing the old one and installing the new (used from junkyard). I'll update.
