I saw the “I am ballin I am faded” meme randomly pop up in my recommendations a couple of days ago and decided to watch the show. I also somehow recognize the song, even though I know I’ve never watched the show or heard the song. I mean I guess I must have heard it at some point, but rather than just fade out of my brain, it must have lain deep in the recesses of my memory, waiting to appear one day. Presently, I’m watching the show, searching more lain memes, the “gay bar” amv is hilarious, a nostalgic song from another time I had forgotten about.
There's something unintentionally soothing about this video for me. The faint sound of the skateboard in the background as that Duvet remix plays. Lain faceplanting after falling off her board and then getting back up to skate like a champ. I don't know it just feels really chill.
Lain shitposts are some of my favorite because it feels like the audience for this show is so niche that its like a small club of fans that make goofy videos like this.
There are also Silent Hill shitposts of this variety and most of the time they don't have that much views to begin with, the comment sections however are always very lively

imo Texhnolyze (made by same creators and almost twice the eps) has more "filtering" qualities, in the first episode it literally takes 14m+ for a single word to be said 😂, its really good

That's how these kind of shows work. Popular fluff anime are big while they run but a decade later they aren't attracting new fans if their run has stopped. Anime like this come in and out of vogue in cycles when new people find it.
@@Setogayamari no. its storytelling is pretty good. when it comes to weird/trippy shows and animes like paranoia agent, ergo proxy, texhnolyze, SEL etc among them SEL has the best storytelling, and it is not a dry watch at all since its visuals are waaay more eye catching and intriguing also plotwise things constantly happen, there is never a stale moment or wasted frames cuz it is really well paced. it is the least pretentious anime that involves heavy philosophical themes. easy S+++ tier
