"im trying to send a smoke signal that says this wood is very very wet". It made me laugh harder than any other youtube video i had ever seen. thanks for sharing.

I never get over the thrill of seeing the Canyon open up as you approach it. From the North Rim, in my view, it's even more stunning. My wife and I always wanted to open and close the Lodge on the North Rim. Sadly, we never got to. Now I'll head there solo in my truck camper and dream of sunsets from long ago.

Wow! Here I am in 2020 watching your tranquil video with my wife, thinking about my 4 wheel camper restoration and amidst the Corona virus hysteria, when at 17:03 I see the exact spot where I proposed 10 years ago. Hopfully we will return someday in our 4wheel camper with our daughter to take another family photo at that spot. Thank for the video.

The Grand Canyon is definitely a bucket list item for my wife and I.
    Great job as always.

I hope you have a chance to visit The Maze District of Canyonlands National Park some day. It is one of the most remote areas of the National Parks that is still vehicle-accessible. You do have to camp in designated areas, but it is wild camping with no amenities (and no camp fires allowed). It may be the most stunning places I've ever been.

I had that same dreary weather when I was at the Grand Canyon last year. The upside was I got an amazing photo of a rainbow across the canyon. I camped in the national forest just outside of the Park.

Cool, We'll be doing a similar rout in revers as we make our way from Mexico, through Arizona, and arc our way back to California, where our Overlanding trip started a little over a year ago. Thanks for the tip on the Death Vally campsite

There are quite a few parks in North America outside Alaska that are bigger than Death Valley National Park.

However, in the "lower 48" US states, DVNP is the largest, followed by Yellowstone NP. I'm sure Canada has some big ones though.

Lol I invite you to come wheeling/camping in the low Sanoran desert of Arizona around late July to early August. You'll be wishing it was ONLY 109 degrees!
In all seriousness though, I do hate camping in the desert in the hot months. That pretty much leaves me two options, go camping in the 3 cooler months of the year, or drive very far north to escape the heat. Unfortunately taking that much time off work and spending the money on gas and supplies is a once in 2 or 3 years proposition. So I mainly settle for day trips, rock crawling within an hour or two of Phoenix. And longer camping trips during the winter months in the desert.

Were you at the North rim of the Grand Canyon? The wife and I camped in the Kaibab National Forest just outside the park of the south rim, best camping we have ever had!

Actually it wasn't that hot. You are lucky it wasn't 120 F like it gets in southern Arizona.

I've been to DV a number of times but not up on the one section by the hot springs so it was good to see that. I am planning to go back soon .. before it gets too hot. I have a question: Looks to me like you never aired down your rigs. I run a BFG 265/75 16 and do the Valley at 15 lbs. Way more comfortable. Once in the valley as long as the temps aren't scorching I leave my tires aired down .. always do a hand check every time I stop just to be safe. My rig only weighs about 4600 lbs .. no stress for the tires I'm running.

so what are your plans for beating the heat in places like our southwest? some sort of small a/c for the very hot days? having grown up in inland southern california, i can honestly say desert has never held much appeal for me. hot, ill-tempered, unforgiving place. beautiful campsite there in the mountains, though.

Been through Vegas a number of times at different times of day. Never liked that place. The glaring and garish lights that are so contrasting to the gentle relaxing wilderness. Weird to think some people are afraid of the wilderness and feel at home with the ghastly lights of Vegas.

Just recently, some idiots drove their vehicle all over that fragile dirt bed where the moving rocks are. Nearly destroyed the entire thing.

    • @KurNorock
      @KurNorock 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It didn't destroy anything. It's dirt. Given enough time it will return to normal, or it won't. Doesn't really matter.
Humanity really needs to get over the false idea that the earth is somehow never supposed to change, and also the equally silly idea that humans are somehow outside of nature and shouldn't so much as disturb some dirt.
