    6:51 I missed the best move here, but I did find a way for Black to win a piece: Rxc5, deflecting the queen; the bishops prevent a follow-up queen check. (But as Nelson says, if you see a good move, look for a better one.) But I didn't follow it to the conclusion. 1. ... Rxc5 2. Qxc5 Rxe3 3. Rd8+ Bf8 4. Qxf8 mate.

    I was thinking about a queen trap, but I was like "no, it can escape on the c8, d7, or e6 squares, you're not going to be able to cover all of them with a defended piece" and somehow forgot about the bishop he was talking about earlier in the video.

    I play a brilliant inaccuracy once, my opponent attacked my Queen with their rook (that was defended by their other rook) and so I underpromoted to a knight to defend my Queen but leaving the knight also available to capture with the rook they were attacking my Queen with, either way they take with their room it would lead to a mate in 1 or 2, but they didn’t have to take either and so the three best moves were to simply move my Queen out of the way. The knight under promotion was still the fourth best though and only 1 point away from the best move iirc

  • @EarthsSaviour-ge1ig
    @EarthsSaviour-ge1ig ปีที่แล้ว

    in a way the knight was already protected, so getting your king out of the way was the priority, I think that's why Kb2 was brilliant

  • @ProbusMihraban

  •  ปีที่แล้ว

    Not *that* brilliant but I once walked into a pin with a queen and immediately afterwards got attacked I thought I did a stupid move at first but actually it was fine (not the best still). The best following move, which I found, was actually to move the knight away apparently sacrificing the queen but actually the knight could then deliver a fork between king and queen, winning the queen back and actually getting better position after a few more trades and winning soon after. And if the opponent didn't take the queen it'd be even worse for him.

    I don't think this is an instance of a "brain dieing". I rather suspect that subconcious decided it had enough of that stupid consciousness and it's insecurities ;p You saw Bh2 beforehand just didn't realize it. And because you couldn't realize it subconcious brutally cut you off so you won't do anything dumb xd Once on the board and Qxg3 was played you were connected again.
    It's survival mechanism.

      After Bh6 Qxh6, white is threatening mate with Qxf8. After Bf5+ (connecting the rooks) Ka1, Qf2 still doesn't work because Ng5 creates a new mate threat on h7, and black's only recourse is to sacrifice the queen on h4 and then play h5.
