That’s so interesting! I’ve heard stories of how Futuna and Samoa have close historical links I can hear it in the language aswell an example is that both Samoa and Futuna use “Le” instead of most polynesian languages that use “Te” and I can clearly understand the language because I myself speak Tokelauan and Samoan fluently and I can understand what they talk about I would love to know more about the Futuna culture and language I I have really enjoyed this video Fakafetai mo te Alofa kae ko au e fia momoli atu ki aku alofaaga mo Futuna vena foki ma Uvea

Iosefo Tulafono Malo le alofa lasi kile vikitonu Mei Tokelau. Indeed, we have common links with Samoa because Futuna knew for the first time what a « King » thanks to Samoa brothers who came here and established their reign through Futuna. We share beautiful stories and dances, and they’re representing our identity. Our alphabet is different with Wallis even if we have common word. Wallis use « Te » and us in Futuna « Le ». Alofa lasi atu mei le kele o Futuna.

Wow that is interesting! I’m part Samoan so that is something new to me I would love to visit Futuna one day though so are there any stories of the close links that Futuna and Samoa share?? I know that our brothers from Uvea were heavily influenced by the Tongans because of how Uvea was invaded by Tonga but Futuna was never invaded by Tonga?? I would to know more about your people, your culture and language Fakamanuia ma Alofa te Atua ki te koe oku taina fakafetai lahi mo fakamanuiaga nae fooki mai alofa lahi atu

Iosefo Tulafono It is true we have on us a litlle part of Tonga. Indeed, 2 brothers came in Futuna and started to establish their reign. One of both became King and the other didnt because he likes « staying on his brother’s side. Many years after, a couple came to futuna, the man is from Tonga (the eldest son of Tonga King) and the woman is from Samoa ( the eldest daughter of Samoa King from Malietoa family). Moreover, we all knew that Samoa and Tonga didnt get along well, so they decided to run away from their family and their kingdom because their relationship is impossible in their proper land. They stayed in Futuna and have had 7 children. After that, the king of Tonga who was dying, had to inherit his first son who ran away to futuna. They sent one of his sons to Futuna to find him and bring him back. Unfortunately he failed because his brother refused and he didn’t came back to Tonga but stayed in Wallis and so on. In Futuna, if we speak Samoa language, that’s because the 2 brothers came first.
This is fascinating and long story, but I always would be happy to tell to everyone !
