I love Stalker Cut Content mods, and Lost Alpha goes its own direction in some places instead of the old GSC design documents from 2002-2004, which is refreshing.
Definitely, it's really interesting to see different interpretations of the same set of ideas - especially decades after the original plans were laid out by GSC.
I remember the first time I tried lost alpha I was not that blown away, but now I'm more warmed up towards trying it again, having an overall new perspective on things, since I need my fix of Stalker-like games.😅
Would love more videos on Stalker mods especially obscure Russian mods like AlternativA and OP-2.2 ( OP is getting a OGSR remake in the distant future with a full translation )
I'm 37 and this game is in my head for 20+ years, this mod gave me opportunity to enjoy the game like no other game. The worlds is just beautiful and dark at the same time. The maps are like real live places been that big is a strong point. The difficulty is mesmerizing and push you to play and be better to experience yourself and also to be prepared. The story line is mystery really like in a masterpiece. When a game is rare gem it must stand far from the other games and this game/mod stands next to StarCraft, Quake, Half life, Age
6 months after. Dunno if already answered. Lost Alpha tries to recreate the previous builds of Stalker SoCh. Hence the Ammo equipping. It was a feature old Alpha/Beta Builds
Before Lost Alpha there are other mods (Stalker Oblivion Lost Remake, Vector of Alienation, RMA) that try to show or make known that material discarded or hidden in the games of the Trilogy.
They still can't get the ammo belt right. There are ways to make that work. First of all, don't have ammo share space with artifacts. I can't believe they've gone through so many versions of Lost Alpha and they still can't figure that out. A few questions. One: Can you aim modular grenade launchers like in ShoC, or does it use a cheap zoom like in Clear Sky and CoP? Two: Can you "dodge" pseudogiant pseudostomps with a perfectly-timed jump? Three: Are there snorks, chimeras, or other leaping beasts that jump really high and reall far? Four: Is there a debug mode or spawn menu as a standard feature? Five: If there's a debug mode/spawn menu as a standard feature, does it let you spawn any variant of any mutant? 5:32 Of course, they've gotta have the emergency reload be the one and only reload animation for the Krink (and probably other rifles too). Never mind that it's called an "emergency" reload for a reason. I bet they have your character reload the AK-74 "wrong-handed" (reloading with the shootin' hand instead of the support hand) even when there's a GP-25 mounted on it. And I bet they have your character grasp the GP-25's dinky nub grip like a foregrip while firing the host rifle even though it's only there so you have something to grasp while firing the launcher. The shortness of the grip is to allow the host rifle's mags to be rocked in and out, so there's no excuse to see that kind of dinky nub grip on a stand-alone launcher like in that one Metal Gear game. Surefire to tell if someone doesn't understand why a thing is the way it is. What would Jonathan Ferguson say? 6:25 Nobody likes that, yet they keep doing it. It would be fine if they could learn to do it right, but they never bother to figure out how to make it work right. 7:34 Again, something that we're all tired of. Real guns can take more of a beating than that. Anomaly, for the most part, does a good enough job with weapon degradation and maintenance. Oblivion Lost 2010 also did a good enough job, and weapon (and armor) repair was a lot simpler.
Lost alpha is definitely my one of my favorite mods all of the cut content and new areas which add a lot of new flavor make the mod amazing this is a great overview of the game. keep making vids man!
Heard of it - but never had the chance to look at/play it. It has been on my list for a while but a lot of things currently taking up my time, so I haven't had the chance! If you vouch for it though I'll give it a look.

Yeah I can see it being a bit hit or miss, it's more 'OG' content tho, something to tide us over til 2 comes out

Incredibly great channel, i’m glad the algorythm recommended it to me, liked and subbed, and waiting for more stalker content.
That's very kind, I appreciate it!

My favorite out of all these types of stalker mods is Vector of alienation. Ever heard of it?

VoA is just a offshoot of an older version of OLR. Honestly I'd say its better than OLR 2.5 and the 3.0 beta.
