I would just add for those of you as technically challenged as I am, you can also fill a small sturdy baggie about 2/3 w vinegar, slip it over the head that remains in place attached to pipe (I was unable to unscrew the head off), I then wrapped water proof tape around shower pipe & bag, then also tied thick string to secure. The entire shower head was immersed for 24 hrs and is once again giving a full flow of water. Thank you for the vinegar tip!
@ Randy Taylor, someone without tools or not strong enough to unscrew a very grimy, hard water built-up showerhead. Not being rude, but the baggy trick works well unless you have water spouting out from the base of the showerhead then I guess you then should purchase a tool or ask a friend for help
@@noahmeme2 This is a serious problem with women. Too many of them never are willing to have the mindset that they are capable of handling the simplest of jobs.

Vinegar is a must-have in my home! It is also great to unclog drains & toilets, when used with baking soda!! 1C vinegar & 1/2 C baking soda. Let sit for 20 min, then pour boiling water down drain or toilet. I swear by this stuff!
I use white table vinegar to clean the rust off metal and have a gallon that I've used many times. I will now use this vinegar that I've used like a dozen times for this. Thanks!
If you don't have TFE paste or Teflon tape, wrap the threads (clockwise) on the shower arm (pipe on wall) with about 12" of dental floss before reinstalling the shower head. Works fine to eliminate leak at threads.
I do something that keeps me from taking the shower head OFF. I take a large baggie and pour vinegar in the baggie, then put the baggie over the shower head and use a heavy duty rubber band holding the top of the baggie in place. Works extremely well. Good video. I've used vinegar for years. Thx.
Thank you I was having showerhead drama. Little bit of vinegar cured jt. Be suuuppperr careful with the vinegar on the granite. Vinegar will eat granite.
I am surprised that the vinegar trick is not known by everyone.. it's very effective and cheap. Useful for a lot. Older people know for sure. Ask your mom or aunt. 👍😀
Thank you. Most plastic shower head connections use a rubber washer instead of Teflon tape. Yours is obviously missing the washer and hence, you'll have to use the tape. If using the washer, lightly hand tighten only to avoid deformity the washer (if it leaks, hand tighten until it stops).
Great video. Vinegar is cheap and also great for rust on chrome and tools. Also tooth brushes are amazing gentle cleaning tools which I use all the time.
Glad I could help! If you have a really stubborn/highly clogged head you may have to do some physical agitation to get it all off. An old soft toothbrush will speed up the process. Good luck!
I did this a few months ago and soaked it multiple times and it didn’t clean up. Bought some CLR and plan to tackle it that way. Maybe my vinegar was defective lol
Thank you. I use vinegar all the time but sometimes I have to use Krud Kutter because of mold build up in my rental properties because people hate to clean.
You can also do this without taking the shower head off. Just pour some vinegar into a small plastic bag, dip your shower head into the bag to where your shower head is submerged and tie the bag in place using a rubber band. Let it soak for a few hours and should be good to go.
@@robira1313 It doesn't even work when u mix the two...they neutralize each other it's just like using only water. She may have added a little more of one than the other and got some effect from it, but it's still a waste
Yes you can, but just be aware that cooking vinegar is less potent than cleaning vinegar (Since it's meant for human consumption it's less acidic) so it may take more and longer. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe!
When I first saw the result and thought myself, no way vinegar can removed all the hard deposited without agitated a little until you mention you've used a brush to help clean the hard water deposited off. Anyway, looks good but if other said use Soda with Vinegar works better.
Soda neutralizes the acidity in the vinegar that is needed to clean out the mineral deposits. It might still work, but it will do better without the baking soda. Baking soda/vinegar works better for surface cleaning as the soda helps scrub away surfaces.
Such a pity you didn’t attach the shower head back on properly to show us your work at its finest! I’m hoping to one day get over it, with enough therapy. Don’t worry about me, one day I’ll be able to once again use a restroom without examining the plumbing for shoddy work!🧐☘️
When did the word hack replace the word tip? A tip is used to suggest how do something. A hack is a dry cough or something you do with a hatchet to a piece of wood.
I just use Citric Acid and it does the job in about an hour or two with the water heated up, but not boiling hot. haven't seen it damage plastic or rubber yet, but the Acid can be concentrated to your choice, the more acid means less time to finish the job

If there was that much calcium and other minerals on the outside what makes this guy think there isn't even more on the inside? This looks clean now, but I doubt it flows as well as new. The inside must still be somewhat clogged. There was no scrubbing with a soft metal brush inside. Then the thing is leaking because he didn't bother to finish the job correctly with teflon tape "since it was just for demonstration". Well, his job was to demonstrate the correct fix.
