The distance from the microphone. Yes. Opera has been around for a very long time...long before there was any such thing as electronic amplification or microphones. Hello Bisscute, first of all, I want to express my respect and admiration for your courage and courage to react to an opera work and an artist like Pavarotti, since not many dare to do so. Your reaction seemed extraordinary to me, you would have seen your face and your gaze with a spark of charm before the virtuosity of Luciano Pavarotti and the beautiful music that accompanied it. Pavarotti's performance of "Nessun Dorma" is one of the most iconic and recognized in the world of opera. It is an aria from the final act of the opera Turandot by Giacomo Puccini, and Pavarotti immortalized it with his powerful and emotional interpretation, with absolute mastery of his breathing and voice projection in a masterful way. As you could see, the high notes, such as the famous "Vincerò" at the end of the aria, are executed with unmatched clarity and power, not to mention his extraordinary interpretation that transmits so many emotions and his handling of dynamics, etc. Bisscute, I think that reacting more to this type of music could open the doors to an even wider audience. I recommend listening to Luciano's interpretations of the works: O sole mio and Torna a Surriento. My suggestion for a next reaction is to the Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flores, at La Scala in Milan, performing a popular Mexican piece called Cucurrucucú paloma. Greetings and a hug from Mexico City.
FANTASTIC reaction. I love the fact that you don't analyze this performance like a vocal coach -- not that there's anything wrong with that! -- but just letting this performance wash over you is all the reaction you need.

Great reaction as "nearly" always ;) If you want to react to a beautiful song sung by two outstanding singers, I would recommend Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman: Time To Say Goodbye. This song is very famous in Germany for some reasons :)
Beautiful your smile with your little teary eyes 😊 You should react to Pavarotti and Friends, I heard he did those concerts featuring some of the 90's most popular singers. My favorite are those with Eros Ramazzotti and the Spice Girls
Mater classing his gift. That is brilliant Bisscute. There are people who work tirelessly with limited talent and you respect them. People with rare talent who display it and you are jealous. It's the rare ones with a gift and the passion to endlessly nurture it that transcend the ordinary and produce true beauty.
Those last few notes are just amazing. He makes it not look effortless, but more like he has to hold on for dear life as God is speaking through his voice. Like a sailor clinging on to the mast of a ship during a great and terrible storm.
his collaboration with eric clapton ( i think the song was called holy mother ) reduced me to tears! keep up the great work bisscute, big love to all people :)
Italy revers Luciano Pavarotti as the master tenor. He got to this plateau by years of hard work combined with an otherworldly talent. When Pavarotti started to sing it is like being transported into an ethereal realm, which some people would describe as the realm of angels. Pavarotti concentration was one of pure concentration and vocal projection that fills the auditorium. In response the audience roared its approval as they heard the man give all his heart and soul to sing this powerful opera masterpiece. Very good reaction Bisscute as you just stepped out of the way and kept your comments few as a layperson that wanted to learn more about from this tenor powerful singing.
I first heard this when it was featured as the theme song for the Football World Cup hosted by Italy in the 1980s or 90s it became famous in the UK then.
I'm a huge music fan, played classical piano and cello when I was younger before eventually picking up a guitar, and Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma is one of the few pieces of music that, no matter how many times i've head it in my near-40 years, it always brings a tear to my eye. I don't know why, but it just does. Another one is Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe singing Barcelona. I discovered this song as a child, from playing classical music in orchestra but also from my Grandmother who was a huge fan of Pavarotti and saw him live in concert in Rome, if I remember correctly
Dear Bisscute, you are so right, we are not here to explain the musical prowess of one of the greatest tenors, we simply listen in owe with exactly the same smile and spark in the eyes you shared with us. Thank you.
I believe the word you were searching for is transcendent. His voice was transcendent. A gift so sublime that we shall never hear another like it. "Caruso", "La Donna e mobile", "O Sole Mio" (both solo and with the other 2 of the 3 Tenors, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras), "Che galida manina", and "Vest la giubba"
Let me explain in my broken English, Pavarotti's expression at the end. He said, that in reality at that moment, he is in total deprivation of air and must quickly recover oxygen, but without showing this. That expression serves to mask all this.
Nessun dorma, nessun dorma! Tu pure, o Principessa Nella tua fredda stanza Guardi le stelle che tremano D'amore e di speranza Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me Il nome mio nessun saprà No, no, sulla tua bocca lo dirò Quando la luce splenderà Ed il mio bacio scioglierà il silenzio Che ti fa mia Dilegua, o notte Tramontate, stelle Tramontate, stelle All'alba vincerò Vincerò Vincerò
Another obvious one is a good performance of the "Contessa Pardone" section of The Marriage of Figaro, by Wolfy. One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever.
You don't have to like opera to appreciate one of the finest singers who ever lived. Occasionally a singer is beyond critique and should just be admired. El maestro.
I saw him once, on August 11, 1999, In Bucharest. His singing was only one of the once in a lifetime things that happened that day. Most of the really great and famous tenor arias have been recorded with Pavarotti I believe, so try E Lucevan Le Stelle, O Sole Mio, Che Gelida Manina, or almost anything. They are all great.
What a wonderful singer and it brings back memories for me as 'Nessun Dorma' was used for the 1990 World Cup in Italy, a time of ecstasy and agony for an England fan! ( It was the first world cup I really remembered, being 12 at the time). On a weird segue, a music shop once sold the 'Three Tenors in Concert' album with the line 'three tenors for a fiver!'............I'll get my coat🙁
Nice reaction. Regarding Pavarotti, you might want to check out the official live performance video where he performs a duet with James Brown, singing "It's a Man's Man's Man's World." You may be familiar with the song, but this unique version is likely something you haven't heard before.
Regarding the distance from the microphone… opera singers, whatever their “qualification” may be, are “trained” not only in everything that singing entails, breath control, voice projection, mouth positions, tongue, teeth, etc. to vary the way of singing, tone, ... But among many other things that they are taught in those years of “training” is to project the voice. Historically, they do not usually use microphones, and they are taught to “project the voice”. There have been opera purists who criticize when Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras gave concerts in places not usual for “bel canto”, and for using microphones. One of them, if I remember correctly, was a Spanish tenor (like Carreras and Domingo) who believed that singing opera outside of the historically usual places, such as in stadiums, and the use of microphones discredited or betrayed “bel canto”…or something like that.

Stasera gioco in casa e quindi commento in Italiano. Bellissimo brano e grande Tenore. This was used for the theme tune for the Italia 90 World Cup on the BBC here in the UK, that's when I first heard this, it even charted in the UK Top 40, I think reaching number 3, which for an opera song was unheard of. I was a teenager at the time and had very little experience of opera at the time, but an introduction like that was mind-blowing. He then performed concerts worldwide with two other tenors, José Carreras and Placido Domingo as The Three Tenors, they performed concerts worldwide, brought out albums on cd that sold very widely, and they performed in LA at the following World Cup in 1994 in the US, which I think launched them to an even wider audience. Pavarotti is, in my opinion, the greatest tenor to have ever lived. You don't have to understand what is being sung, we didn't when first hearing the song, it is just so beautifully sung, I don't think anyone can deny this. Thanks for reacting to this Biss!!!
@@dietmarsteiner1070 No, it definitely only got to no. 2 on the UK Singles Chart, still an absolutely amazing achievement. I think Elton John's song Sacrifice kept it from the top spot.
When you mentioned at the end how an artist truly appreciates being valued… this really is insight even though you say that you don’t grasp technical terms with singing. The reward is like a big hug from your audience. Truly it is the thing that motivates me as an artist. I really appreciate your acknowledgment of this feeling and purpose Bisscute. ❤

HELLO Biscuit. William s
Nice choice, Bisscute.
I don't know exactly, but I think 'Nessun dorma' was no.1.
Thank you, glad you loved the reaction

Nailed it!
Having listened to opera and trained in classical music from a young age, this is one of my top 5 favorite performances.
Beautiful reaction and review, Biss. Vă mulțumim!
Thank you, glad you loved the reaction
I'm not an opera fan either. My parents have liked listening to him for as long as I can remember. He was amazing! I like watching people react to him on TH-cam
Ave Maria is my favorite.
