  • Join us as we unbox, setup and provide our initial impressions on the chair that’s become the staple of so many detailing professionals and prominent TH-camrs in recent times - the Vyper Chair.
    We went with the Robust Steel Max, which comes with the backrest that is optional on the standard Robust Steel chair, and added the optional sidekick, tool tray and protective rubber for both the backrest, and the sidekick. The final touch was the custom embroidered Omni Garage logo on the seat cushion.

      If it wasn’t for you getting out and sharing your story and the chair we probably wouldn’t have this on our radar.

    Man I've had this chair for about a year now and I love it. Honestly such a good investment, very expensive yes but worth every penny. The great thing about it is the fact that you don't have to buy everything all at once. Because its so expensive I just go the chair itself with no back rest or anything initially. Then after a while I bought the backrest and just picked up the sidekick and the quick height adjustment today (hence why I saw your video). Don't get me wrong for the price of just one of the accessories you could get a good chair for detailing. But for me those always end up breaking on me and I have to order a new one which takes time and money. The chair is not for everyone but if you can afford it I say go for it.

      I agree with you. It’s an awesome chair. And your right you can add on the different parts as you go. I’m a bit disappointed that a few days after getting the chair the new height adjustment thing came out. I will end up getting that eventually.

      @@OmniGarage yeh I just ordered my height adjuster so hopefully I get it next week. As soon as I get it I’ll let you know how it is. I’ve honestly never taken the chair out of the lowest setting because it’s too much of a haste so this will be nice to have.

    • @OmniGarage

      The height adjuster will complete the chair. Your right spinning it around is a pain and you tend to not bother about adjusting it to a comfortable height. Yes please let me know how you like it. What colour and configuration did you choose for your chair?

      @victorr4844 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OmniGarage so my initial setup was a robust steel with black seat, blue arms and wheels with the tool tray. About a month ago I added the backrest with blue arm to match.

      That colour combo would like nice 👍🏻. I’m rather unsure about which accessory I prefer. Do I have the tool tray and take the sidekick off or do I leave them all on. At times I find the sidekick annoying and others times I find it useful. What are your thoughts?

      Glad to hear you enjoy yours too David, the large casters really make a difference on the Vyper compared to other more economical options. Makes the price point worth it!

    I purchased the chair with quick height adjust and the tool tray. First let me say this is a great chair! The build quality is over the top. Love this chair but if I was doing it again I might make some changes. As you have said most of the time you will use it in the lowest position. For that reason I’m not sure the quick height was money well spent for me. Instead I should have spent it on the back rest. My guess is I will be purchasing that very soon. I just hate the idea of paying shipping again. But no regrets buying this chair. I think I will be leaving it in my will!

    • @OmniGarage
      @OmniGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess for me I like to adjust the height up and down depending on the application. Spinning the seat round is frustrating and so I’m going to buy the height adjustor.

      @terrysheehan4527 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OmniGarage That was really my thought when I made the purchase. But for me in reality most of the time I use it in the lowest position. What it really comes down to I just cheeped out! I should have bought the back rest and will likely do so soon. I don’t see ant appeal to the side kick. The tool tray works great for me and is never in the way.

      The backrest is nice and completes the chair from a look point of view. I do find most of the time you are leaning forward and so the backrest is not being used.
      I guess the best thing about Vyper is that they have created lots of different options for you to configure the chair how you would like it.

    Sorry for not knowing your names, but I'd like to know your thoughts on the size of the base and how it affects your mobility. Throughout this video, it's interesting to see where the guy with the white watch has his feet placed while using the cheaper stool. It's seems natural to want to have your feet almost tucked in close to the base. On the Vyper, I feel like this natural foot positioning would be impeded because of how massive the base is. Even at 36:50 of the video, both of your feet are in positions that look like they'd be impeded

    • @OmniGarage
      @OmniGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see what you mean. The base of the chair is possibly slightly too big. However having spent many hours on the chair so far I don’t feel my legs are overly impeded.
      The base on the red chair is too small and when moving around on it at times you can feel the chair tipping. The bigger base on the Vyper chair makes it very stable.
      There has to be a happy spot with the size of the base. Too small, chair is unstable. Too big, ergonomically the chair will feel uncomfortable. Vyper have probably got it about right.
      @Derek do you own on of these chairs?

      @@OmniGarage I'm definitely in the market for an upgrade. I think I'm going to wait it out until there's more competition though. It seems like you have two options right now...a $60 stool or a $600 stool. Dewalt makes a pretty hefty stool for $170, but it has drawbacks. Need something in that $300 range

    • @OmniGarage

      I have seen Vyper chair post on their social media a chair with a more simplistic design. Let’s hope Vyper can target a chair to an in-between price point.
