    Thank you for the practical advise. Feeling stuck and without vision in my fourth year of a PhD. Just needed to hear from somebody who has made it to the other side.

    Thank you for this Dr. Guyton! I am in my first year of a comprehensive doctoral program and I can definitely relate to the young lady who submitted this question! Being a minority at a Research I PWI is challenging and as a first-generation graduate student, "like-me" mentorship opportunities can far and few between but I'm learning a lot of really awesome things and I can thinking about the greater impact I can and will have on my community. Again, thank you and I look forward to more content - school, relationships, whatever. I'm a long subscriber of your channel. Blessings.

      My background is similar to yours. I was at a PWI and first-generation. I had to learn the process and balance finding my identity at the majority institution. I applaud you for what you have accomplished and what you will accomplish. I really appreciate you for being a loyal subscriber even when I took a long hiatus.
