- For the last 25 years, the Coast Express Rail, more commonly known as Coaster, has served travelers along San Diego County's coastal rail corridor. A lot has changed over the last 25 years and even more changes are set to occur over the next decade. But for now, let's look back and watch over an hour's worth of Coaster trains that I've filmed over the years!
CoasterFan2105 is the home of all sorts of train and railroad related video content. Stop by every Friday at 9 AM Pacific time for an all new railroading adventure and be sure to check out all of my social media pages @coasterfan2105 for even more great railroad content. Thanks, and I'll see you down the line!
17:59 always happy to see friendly drivers.
Yea it is. I have to agree with you!
Hey the intro with the coaster and 3751 who agrees he should use that intro again

with all the garbage going on, this video is very relaxing and enjoyable...thank you...
32:54 That was such an epic shot with a train and a plane. Coaster VS United.
When I go to San Diego in spring, hopefully I’ll be able to do a lot of railfanning and see Amtrak, coaster, and maybe some freight trains
Film more of the coaster! Their existing locomotives will be retired by the end of the year
PsychicRailfanner that’s what I’m going to do
Trains U.S.A

Tt to
You can definitely tell Coaster was so much better back in the day before they had the Chokes. You even managed to film 2104 with the M5! Great job on that!
Also, another note: Not only is Coaster buying the Siemens Chargers, but they're also planning to replace the coach fleet too. With the way things are now, I fear they may very likely end up buying the Bombardier Crash Energy Management Bi-Levels. If you know GO Transit and Sounder, you know what nightmare I'm talking about.
Animation Parrot I’m going there this year for spring break
The Chargers are expected to start entering service later this year. It's questionable as to whether or not the F40PHs and F59PHIs will live to see another New Years.
No new coaches have officially been ordered yet, but they have announced plans to do so. We'll have to see where times takes it.
@@superbaddy4 do you think they will get sold, donated, rebuilt, or scrapped?
I don't know. Just, they are certainty not getting rebuilt.
Also, as of now, it is 100% confirmed that Coaster is indeed buying CEM Cab Cars. The fate of the Old Cab Cars is yet to be determined.
@@superbaddy4 The old cab cars will still be in service since they ordered 2
As someone who got their love of trains from Coaster and a San Diego citizen for my entire life, i am happy to see it going strong still.
Coaster is such a nice train. I've seen one on a beach trip and it was nice. Keep sharing more!
30:17 2303 never ceases to amazing. The quill will never be forgotten. Same thing for Ed and 2306 kicking ass too 18:11. Even 2305 sounded cool at 15:05 and at 15:17
What happened to Ed?
Rip
WHAG IS GOING ON?!?!
Awesome Compilation Video:) I remember seeing some of your old videos when I was a kid.
3:02 oh my gosh that M5 is legit! I don’t know if you know about this, but Amtrak F40PHR 292 had an RS5T equipped.
I know, 292 was my fav f40, sad I saw its front cab on the ground in 1999.
Great clips! Love the work!😀
Awesome video man! to bad their f59s and f40s will start to leave the fleet later this year, but still excited to see their new livery on the new charger locomotives!
Good stuff mike
awesome video and catches and as well as horn action through out these years
Love the Coaster Commuter Train system. And great video.
I feel stupid that I’ve been to California 12 times and I’ve never even seen a coaster but I’ve seen Metrolink and my parents called it Caltrain lol
I also remember seeing some of your older Footage of The Coaster from 2003-2009 on your Old CoasterMike2105/2101 TH-cam channel and also on RailVideos.
I enjoyed the video. It's awesome to see Coaster become better and better. I'd ride one of their trains someday.
I live in Poway so I hopped on the bus route 945 towards Sabre Spring/Rancho Penesquitos station, hopped on the Rapid 235 to Escondido, hopped on the Sprinter to Oceanside, hopped on Coaster to Downtown San Diego, hopped on the Rapid 235 again towards Rancho Bernardo then hopped on the bus route 944 towards back home. I had a fun, relaxing time, & the wait time wasn’t that long for each of the buses either. It didn’t matter because IT WAS MY DAY OFF ANYWAYS & the round trip ticket only cost me $15 all day.
Happy 25th Anniversary Coaster!
Nice video! Its hard to believe That The Coaster was in Service for 25 years.
Well it did begin service in February of 1995
Shout out to the fastest train on the West Coast! Hopefully, Atlanta follows suit, soon.
Happy 25th anniversary Coaster :D
9:02 I love it when coaster has two locomotives pulling the cars
Well gottA say bye to them they getting the trash charger engine
Awad roblox awwww man. Well, goodbye. May it Rest In Peace
The chargers seem pretty reliable, so I’m personally excited
I like train videos videos on TH-cam 👍
Nice video! Wow coaster has been operating for years from now!
Also speaking of F40PH locomotives, the Trinity Railway Express has just gotten their first ever F40PH locomotives
Great video Mike!
NO!!!! I DONT WANT THIS TRAIN TO HAVE THE SC44 I WANT THE ENGINSS TO STAY ON VIA AND CALL THESE TRAINS RIGHT NOW
We gotta replace them at some point, nothing lasts forever
@@IronHorsefan1869 Noooooo they are replacing the wonderful via rail in Canada 😭😭😭😭I just found out
@@ThatOneExoRailfan we can't keep using the same thing forever, and the LD Via Rail trains are staying the same
@Taj Sebastian I like them better than the Genesis units, and its not about looks so much as performance, but honestly i love them, in time people will get used to them, honestly with how behind we are on passenger rail i aint complaining, I'm just happy we got new equipment
@@ThatOneExoRailfan I love steam engines but i knew they couldn't keep using them regularly, same goes with F40s
THAT'S BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! :-D
Amazing
That's like our GO Metro Linx train in Toronto, Ontario.
13:20 Nice shot there Mike!
Why replace F40ph’s?!?
Cailifornia Emmision standards & the F40s are old
Good Shots On Your Videos.
Mike, as someone who has enjoyed watching coaster for seventeen of those 25 years, and enjoyed filming them for eleven years lol, I have enjoyed coaster just as much as the next railfan! Excellent footage as usual man! Happy 25th to Coaster! :)
Happy 25th Anniversary of Coaster Train🥳🥳
Guys let's get to 1M for dis dude hmmm?
The main line is now double tracked into San Diego. Saw them putting the finishing touches on the bridge over Frias road last weekend from the trolley. By Monday, it was in use. Caught the Coaster to O'side from Track 4
That is one seriously good K5la at 29:17
Coaster 2308 has a unique sounding K5La
Wow that is the awesome video Happy 25th anniversary Coaster good job CoasterFan2105 Your video is Amazing!
The company that designed Coasters' coaches designed the same ones for Go Transit in Canada.
Qubit 13 that would be bombardier.
@Dracian Fury325 Actually, the original that GO and Metrolink have were built by Hawker Siddely Canada
A Very Random Person thanks for the help I wasn’t sure. Now I know.
Nice video archive Mike.
Super Video, Danke, Thank you
Sweet video mike!
If only 2104 still has the Nathan M5! Great video!
Amazing video mate and this coaster is order a Brand new SC44 replace F40PH or F59PHI
They are replacing the f40ph
@@arthur.jaanus yes f40ph is doing now replace and what start SC44 in 2020
Why are they replacing the f40ph for?
Because it’s getting a lot years older.
@@arthur.jaanus because that replace SC44
The horn on 2104 is like a Leslie RS3l
Fantastic vdeo
Love from Vietnam

Happy birthday coaster
Happy birthday coster
2104 has an M5 horn
I Saw A Norfolk Southern At Fullerton Station Last Saturday! I wish you could be there to see it!
I play train sim world and it’s awesome but you know what’s better coasterfan
Why does coaster want to get rid of those awesome locomotives for a charger locomotive
NCTD Coaster should get an MPI MP36PH with the best K5LA ever.
emmisions standards
I like your videos and your channel I may even be Brazilian but I like your channel
Nice job, as usual.
Awesome!
Great Nathan M5 on 2104!
Omg Great video 4k súper mega like
Awesome

I love coaster
Nice video
🇮🇳🚂🚂🚂
Nice.
I had no idea coaster was such a successful railroad. That’s great to hear. I wonder how ACE is doing?
ACE is doing well. Their SC-44s are already being delivered.
Ztgggrt
Coaster is replacing there cab cars with crash energy management cab cars
Why did they take the Side Skirts off the F59PHI’s?
Apparently, they weighed them down, which cut performance.
@@superbaddy4 I thought it was for easier access to parts for service.
Both reasons, I think.
Tanks Brasil 😎😎😎
24:33 i like the k5la
I have bad news for you and good news the good news is SC-44 Simmons Chargers are going to be in coaster but the bad news is The coaster SC-44 actually going to replace the F40PH in coaster and I will be sad to see the F40PHs in coaster at the end
I will also Miss The Coaster F40's as well.
Are they getting f59ph?
Nope. Siemens Chargers.
24:54 loooooong
Love the video, my kids really love them but they dont all show up in TH-cam kids. I think its because some are categorized as Autos and vehicles (works in kids) and others are travel and events (does not work)
who originally owned the track or was it made by coaster?
@Nathan Zhang The Surf Line was built in 1888 by the AT&SF. Coaster uses the line south of Oceanside.
Rip coaster f40ph Simense take over is happening
coasterfan2105 you love the 684 metrolink train?
This is better that 24 XD
Can you film some handheld video? It solves the problem of the fact that the LIRR is hard to film for you
Any chance you can categorize this one to auto and vehicles?
How frequent can you film UPS trailer freight trains? Where can I see them?
@LA Railfan If you wait along the BNSF Sothern Transcon for a few hours, you'll probably see a few.
Do they have sleeper and dining cars ?!
No. They're a Commuter Train. There's no reason they would ever need those.
@@superbaddy4 where does it run then
Just TO say I'm awad roblox with a new name right now
It runs between Oceanside and San Diego, CA. That's not very far.
@@superbaddy4 ok so as the exo they have 13 stops from lucien to saint jerome is not really far u can pack some snacks while riding it
저는항국이에요저미국기차타보고십어요ㅠㅠ😥😥
What?
Move the camera when you record please!
