  • Things to do in Coverack
With pennies getting tighter and the holiday budget being squeezed, we wanted to give you some ideas for day trips with lots of fun that would be budget friendly!
We have looked at the cost of parking, what food is on offer at cafes and restaurants, and given some examples of free activities in Coverack and the nearby area.
From experience we know that sometimes it can be a bit tricky to find tourist information about an area, and what local businesses have to offer. We hope that we have given you a flavour of what to expect from this delightful seaside village.
NB We have not included every business in the village. Some businesses are seasonal and will only open in peak times.
Disclosure: We have not been paid by any of the businesses mentioned in this video. To make this video, we have used our local knowledge, gleaned from visiting over the years.
    The standard description bit…
We are Sarah and Andrew and we film our walks around Cornwall and publish on TH-cam, usually weekly. Sometimes we stay in accommodation in Cornwall and upload our vlog. Sarah is fascinated by sea glass and likes to collect it so there may be the occasional sea glass video too. The channel is a hobby and we both have normal day jobs!
We love your comments and read all of them. We also answer as many as possible. Unfortunately, we cannot answer comments received more than a week after publication.
    Frequently asked questions:
    What are your dogs called?
Sorry but we do not release the names of our dogs but perhaps you could make up a name for them!
    What camera do we use?
Since December 2018 we have used: Canon Powershot G7x MkII
How do I find the books you use?
Most are still in print although some we pick up in charity shops and may be available on Amazon secondhand. Please refer to the video for the book titles. Every video shows the book three times. Sorry but we can’t put a link in every description.
Best time of year to visit Cornwall?
We love May, June for flora and fauna, July and September for spectacular scenery.

We really love Coverack and your right it can be a cheap day out. Had many years enjoying walking around Coverack and sitting at the harbour eating Fish n chips which were the Best. Always enjoy your video's a pleasure to watch. The doggies are superb with wagging tails!

Coverack looks an ideal place to visit, with nice toilet block a major bonus anywhere, wish we had found this beautiful village fifty years ago when my family were young, a lovely gentle surf how fabulous, what more could one want! Loved the Sculpture Park as much as you and Andrew great fun with your adorable doggies as always, thank you 🙏 for another delightful video I would give this £10. theme a 5+ out of 5 any day, definitely value for money, the Ice creams were the icing on the cake, ending with four happy bunnies and amazing views out to sea 🌊 👏👏👏

Hi Sarah, we discoverd the sculpture garden on a hike a few years ago and were so excited. I wanted to add it to your list of things to do that are free. It's so fascinating there! In February I had my sketchbook with me and drew the figures Andrew and you posed in front of:)) I love rusty art. My husband sat in the sun waiting. I would have stayed there much longer but it was quite cold. It is so wonderful to look at this for free and linger on the beautiful lawn with the sea view. The walks at Coverack are beautiful. The ice cream prices have gone up a lot this year. But you deserve it. I'll be happy to buy you the next ice cream. Enjoy it:)) Thank you very much for sharing the videos. And to see your sweet doggies:)) Gabi:)

Another ‘sterling’ video from CWTrails. We did your St Just in Roseland on a budget last Saturday - Ferry £10. Coffee for 2 £7 and donation for parking£2.50 so for 2 £19.50 and the church was open, the sun shone & the gardens were immaculate- You have proven that the same can be done at Coverack - well done Beautiful days out in Cornwall on the budget you set for yourself.

I love Coverack. I did the South West Coast Path some years ago, and the YHA here was the most amazing stay. We had an evening meal at the pub on the quay.. After the steep walk up the hill to the YHA, I remember laying in bed in my top bunk watching the lights of the ships through the large bay windows

Ha!!....I dared....you delivered!😃Well done, and what a lovely day out on a budget. Have been to Coverack a few times...it's a really lovely part of Cornwall on the Lizard Peninsular. I remember when we were there last, a local cat🐱came and sat on my lap on a bench overlooking the sea! We had a lovely afternoon there, but I hadn;t realised there was a sculpture garden up on the cliffs too. Not sure I would make it up there now, but interesting to hear that you can arrange local parking nearby. Thanks for showing it to us and well done on the £10 challenge! x J x

Thanks so much for all the great information and the sculptural garden looks a must 😍. I agree the pooch looks so much better that colour.... or should I say Rusty 😜. I remember the Piskie hunt 😉. Great value for money day out... thanks guys 🙏💖🐾😘

Thank you so much for considering those who might be struggling.
My idea of a holiday was never driving. Even if I had driven from Coventry, I would park my car up, then travel by bus or train. Often using weekly global ticket. Car reserved for the most inaccessible places.
Watching this video, I tell you, we have no views like that here.

Nice place. Back in 1940s coverack was a location for a film called Born of the sea. You will find it talking pictures channel 82 . A baby is found in a boat in a fishing village, but no one can identify from where he came. He grows up among them, but is somehow destined to return to the sea. A delightful film.

Great idea this. Cornwall on the cheap. The free sculpture garden looks brilliant, although perhaps the grass could get a bit worn in the summer months. And its not rust ,its well weathered.

Regarding budget days out; parking is free on Bodmin Moor, but I wish visitors wouldn't park in the passing bays on the moor's narrow lanes, or in front of farm gates - especially ours half a mile from our house!

Hi Sarah and Andrew. I love your new series Cornwall on a budget. It gives me hope for a holiday this year. Instead of driving which I can't do I take the bus but unlike London I love the fact you can get a return fare in Cornwall which means you don't have to save the money for buses coming back. It also works out cheaper. Coverrack looks so cute with its chocolate box cottages one stop I would make.

Such beautiful views there! Living in one of those cottages would be a dream. I like how the sculptures represent people, animals, and insects, and the colors are neutral against the bright green grass. I prefer this to modern (and particularly bright colored) sculptures set into historic and formal buildings and gardens. I did laugh at the name Terence Coventry (apologies to the artist himself), because that was the name of the villain in the totally hilarious romance novel episode of the TV series Highlander. If you haven't seen it, it's a hoot! (Season 5, Episode 5 "Dramatic License") Thank you for the budget suggestions.

Phil O'Stein is the Irish part of Rick Stein's German family! Is there something fishy going on? Anyway no one can afford to eat fish and chips at Rick Steins, it's too expensive and not very good at all. He's a pesky piskie rip off! : ) And £6 for 2 ice creams, £5 for 2 pasties, and £2:50 for the pisky trail = £13:50 ! Still a cheap day though!!

    • @CornishWalkingTrails
      @CornishWalkingTrails  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @bobbybigboyyes

@@CornishWalkingTrails Parking is cheap in Cornwall compared to some other places. For example trying to park on the main beach in Hastings is horrendous, and the city of Oxford is ten times worse in their main car park in town, ( so it's best to use their 'Park and Ride' ) where Inspector Morse was filmed in 'The Secrets of Bay 5B' My Dad's car and garage was featured in the episode 'Driven To Distraction' ... Take some sandwiches and a flask next time you try to make it cheaper! And where will tomorrows episode be we wonder ? 🥰

We said per person! And the sculpture gardens are free, you would only need 1 Pisky Trail. Parking is at your discretion. Take a picnic and sit on the beach. Sandcastles are free! Believe me we have brought up 2 kids in Cornwall with long summer holidays, and lots of expensive attractions to avoid. You can do Cornwall on a budget! Sarah :)
