This does actually *really* nicely encapsulate the type of videos that dominated TH-cam for certain time periods. Obviously, early on we have individually-produced pieces of content, how the website was always intended before sponsors and corporations (understandably) wanted to take advantage of the platform, thus we give rise to music videos, and then as the Robots began to take over the world with greater and greater ease, even the music videos are infiltrated, and then succumb, to the overwhelming might of kiddie videos with extremely unreasonable numbers attached to them.
Shoutouts to Evolution of Dance, man. The fact that, in essence, a completely random talent show clip filmed by a random dude with a camcorder was able to hold the early TH-cam crown for so long is just fantastic. I'll miss that level of Internet innocence dearly.
2005 - Normal and meme videos: because YT was used as a social media
2011 - Song videos: YT becomes the "Gen Z MTV".
2021 - Children videos: because of pandemics, when kids no longer went to school and watching YT videos on TV was the only distraction
We must restore Gangnam Style to its former glory. Baby Shark is not fit for the throne.

I have been on TH-cam since 2012, and it feels like it "died" in 2022, I miss the old TH-cam, where there were fewer restrictions, people made videos for the sake of viewers, not for money, without super video editing, etc. :(
