O.M.G. All these years I had trouble with guile because of charge. Today I have learned I can just use the corners of the gate to execute the moves. Thank you.
Alex Oka glad it was helpful 😊 when i was making it, i kinda think i over complicated it, i hope its easy to understand for players in every level 🙏 thank you
I got myself into playing Leo Whitefang. What kept me from playing him for so long was his charging moves. I even came up to your Level 3 by myself but with this great tutorial i even feel confident enough to take on REAL charging characters. Thank you for that. The effort and passion you put into these is very much appreciated!
Splitting this into multiple steps based on difficulty helps immensely. I would pay for a fighting game guide that taught me what mechanics to focus on first and how to slowly build up my skills as opposed to simply being told the optimal way to use the buttons. The visuals here are also very helpful. Thank you for the video!
He kinda is partial charge / circular motion, also in street fighter 3rd strike, he has a back to forward kick, gives you elbow. Down up kick,’gives you a stomp
I already knew all those techniques except charge partitioning, but the explanations and video editing were on point. You make it easy for anyone to understand what you are doing.
KAMAKAZE ZC thank you, i try to use general terms instead of lingo, like spin kick instead of tatsu, that way anyone at any level can understand it 🙏❤️
Wow, you can just use charges while crouching. That changes everything! I always tried so hard to make sure I pressed the button while pointing exactly where the command says
This actually helps to not only understand how to play charge characters but also how to read their inputs when you're facing opponents online. Good job on the video, very well and in depth explanation!
@@JoystickNY Well, it doesn't help me personally haha, I've been playing fighting games ever since I could walk. But I still enjoy watching your videos because I just love the way you explain things and motivate more and more players to keep on fighting!
I literally was today years old when i learned you dont have to go from a mixed input to a pure input on charge characters. Going mixed to mixed makes so much more sense and this will make playing chun 1000x easier for me. Thank you so much for your clear explanation of this. I am embarrassed that i never knew this lol
Played guile for so long (pad and stick) and could never do a flash kick cancel into super (never! Not even by mistake!). Saw your video, went to training mode, and there it was! The effort you put in your videos is amazing! And for teaching me, I truly thank you!
Wow i am very happy to hear that 😃, nice job, fighting game is actually not as hard as people think, its just knowing the information, i have a advance series coming later year . Thank you for watching ❤️🙏
Bro as a SFV beginner this video truly helped me get into charged characters, especially for me who wants to play M.Bison as my 1st character.Big Thumbs up for the effort and the great tips👍🏻
bro, a minute in and i was already impressed with the video. i got back into sfv after a couple years of tekken. decided to be a Bison main. this helps.

I don't think I play many games with the charge mechanics. Probably because I've never took the time to even learn the mechanics. This will certainly help those that want to utilize those types of characters or even if they want to see if they would like to try those characters.
Ahzek Ahriman most these concepts are actually useful in other games too, like king of fighters , marvel vs capcom, uses similar mechanics 🙏❤️ thank you for watching
I appreciate all these videos, I’ve always wanted to get into fight sticks…is there anyway you can do a video on the finger input buttons on the right hand side? I’m starting to grasp the left hand, but the different button combinations with the right hand I don’t really know where to start
This guide is so informative and well put together, I wish I had seen it years ago. Your videos are fantastic, and have revived my desire to play characters I normally avoid playing.

Kevin B i heard unist charge character has a different system, i heard is like charging forward or something like that, i am curious to play UNIST. Heard good things about it 🙏
@@JoystickNY I'm absolutely convinced that UNIST is the best fighting game on the market. The character variety, combos, neutral, pressure game, and general quality are just outrageous for a game made by a team of roughly a dozen people. I can't recommend any game more highly. Plus the soundtrack is fucking fire. If you're interested, I recommend getting it on PS4 within the next couple of weeks, as the next version of the game will be a free update for anyone who owns the game when it's released - though you'll still need to buy the new character(s) and cosmetics. And yes, Vatista is a whole different animal of a character. She's profoundly unique and also cute as a button. In addition to the standard back-forward and down-up charges, she does have a forward-back charge, yes. As well as an inverted flashkick up-down charge. The idea behind the latter is that as you're doing aerial portions of combos you continue holding up before inverting to a down motion. In her more advanced combos and blockstrings, you'll also be holding buttons while doing these things to release gems that she can pop for extensions and oki. Characters in UNI are extremely unique and anyone who loves fighting games owes it to themselves to try it out.
Kevin B its 50$ on most places, seems like a solid game, and i love these type of fighting games, i love uniqueness and complexity, its like solving puzzles. I am gonna watch some game play now. Btw i am looking to pick up gran blue fantasy vs on 3/2 release date. I am curious on that game too
your videos are only getting better man you started out with just explanation videos went to hand cams now you got all the directions poppin up whilst having hand cam nice yo do you think that you would be able to make some tekken 7 tutorials I am very new to tekken and everyone who does tutorials have their hands moving 90 miles per hour and you cant really see it Keep up the good work man
Da_Masterdude Lol thank you for the kind words, the next thing i probably need is a capture card. Gotta learn how to use one. About the tekken content, sorry i probably wont have time yet, becuz i still have a long list of video to tackle. If i didnt have to work, i probably can, but since i have to work full time, i dont have enough time as for now, and moving forward, i think i may be go in to gran blue fantasy versus, it comes out in 3 weeks, follow by guilty gear strive and kof 15 this year. 🙏 but i really appreciate you for asking ❤️
Da_Masterdude Lol it takes time, but i do a little bit when i have time, thats why my videos are so slow, i only upload 2 times a month pretty much. I dont think i be able to make any income from youtube, i just want to make videos that i like and teach people, and have a side hobby because i like cameras and games and videos and photography
Great video my friend. Very helpful I'm actually trying to get more of a feel for charge characters you've opened up a lot of interesting techniques for me to try. Thanks keep up the good work.
Thank you I've been wondering for the longest how they do a sonic boom without moving backwards and you taught me it. I've literally been trying to figure that out for the longest. They'll hit a LP and then they'll charge it into a sonic boom. I literally was struggling and scratching my head and telling myself this can't be possible how on Earth are they doing this. But you cleared it up for me thanks alot I'm a beginner at SF so it helps me a lot. I'm using a PS4 controller so it's tough journey.
I just got my first fight stick and the first thing I did after getting a bit used to it is start learning Vatista in UNIST. Granted, Vatista is the epitome of a charge character, but she's a huge part of why I wanted to learn to play on stick. Really enjoying her thus far, but I'm definitely scared to start learning her advanced combos. My hands probably aren't ready haha.
Kevin B you increased my curiosity for UNIST, let me check how much that game is right now lol, if its not too expensive or if it ever goes on sale, i want to pick one up to experience it. 👍🕹
@@JoystickNY The devs honestly deserve every penny they get. They're even in talks with the person who created rollback netcode to hopefully implement it later down the line. It's also got by far the best tutorial of any fighting game I've played, teaching you everything from simple cancels, to hit confirms, to high-level TRM's (throw OS). The combo challenges are extensive, teaching you basic to advanced combos and BnB's off of various starters and with multiple enders, even teaching players oki setups with the challenges. They're also just a lot of fun. Plus, Yuzu's combos will teach your fingers how to breakdance! ...And maybe give you early-onset arthritis. I really can't sing its praises highly enough. It's the best fighting game I've personally ever played. I think it would be a great way to show off certain things in your videos, because the combos get absolutely nutty. See Seth combos for what insanity in a fighting game really looks like. Here's hoping you get it and enjoy its brilliance.
Kevin B i am really going to put some thoughts on UNIST, thank you for sharing with me, i can see your passion in that game. Ever consider making a channel for unist?
@@JoystickNY Content creation doesn't appeal to me much. I'm an extroverted person, but not really the type to make content to put myself on display. It's never really appealed to me. :)
Great video. As a Under Night player, I just want to explain that charge characters are different in that game. (I will use number notation because that’s what I know). 1. Because it has [2]8, [8]2, [4]6 and [6]4, the charged motion does not have to be pure, but the release motion does have to be pure. For example, [2]8 can be [1]8, [2]8, or [3]8. 2. Buffering works differently. You can’t begin charging during active frames or recovery frames. You have to start charging in neutral or before you start the other move. For example, if you want to do 2B->[4]6B, you can do 1B->6B. But you can’t do 2B->4-6B with no additional charge. Guilty gear is mostly the same as SFV.
Cloudbuilder really good info, good to know, i probably wont get in to under night, because its been out for a while, its weird for me to go in in the middle or end of a cycle for a fighting game. This year i am going in to gran blue, guity gear and kof15 ❤️🙏
JoyStickNY no worries there is only so much time for games. But it’s actually the best time to get into it as the new entry on the series UNICLR came out last month.
Thanks for this. I just recently (as in today lol) considered starting to play charge characters after having avoided them for my 25-yr fighting game life.
Thank you so much for this! There are so many SFV characters I wanna use but I can't because I suck at charging, now I have some confidence to play them :D
Chidi Ijeoma your are right, charge character are actually more difficult to use than circular motion character, its take a lot more time to get good with a charge character, and it also takes a lot more planning when playing a charge character, and also, using a stick for charge character is alot easier. who do you use?
The level of effort in your videos deserve 1 million views

If i didnt have to work, i probably can, but since i have to work full time, i dont have enough time as for now, and moving forward, i think i may be go in to gran blue fantasy versus, it comes out in 3 weeks, follow by guilty gear strive and kof 15 this year. 🙏 but i really appreciate you for asking ❤️
@@JoystickNY its good man its actually pretty cool that you can still make videos while working full time
Da_Masterdude Lol it takes time, but i do a little bit when i have time, thats why my videos are so slow, i only upload 2 times a month pretty much.
The Unkempt Vaper thank you, i am glad you enjoyed it, charge characters are very fun, but takes some time to master, you got this 👍 give it a try
Very good video. Learned a few things :)
Thank you for this wonderful video man! It is really helping me grasp the charge character mechanics and technique!
thank you for watching 🙏❤️
Excellent video. Simple explanations for the various charge concepts. Appreciate all your work that went into this.
Thank you 🙏❤️ appreciate your support
The best charge video ever, amazing
Appreciate you
Thank you I've been wondering for the longest how they do a sonic boom without moving backwards and you taught me it.
Thank you 🙏❤️ i am happy it was able to help, more tutorial to come
What the hell I’m surprised you don’t have 1mil subs or something your vid is very professional keep up the good work man you deserve more attention
Appreciate the love, arcade stick is a very small community.
@@JoystickNY yup
Aspiring to learn Parasoul in SG2E. My first charge character, and my first ever fighting game. This is so immensely helpful, thank you so much!
Happy to help, thank you for watching 🙏❤️
Ah, a RAP with the broken cable door. I feel your pain
Kano 404 haha your right 😂 i actually bought it off my friend way back, and he didnt give me the door 😭 he said he is too lazy to find it. Lol
Same here
Thank you so much been struggling with flash kick into super
Gotcha 👍 totally understand
Stopping by to say your videos are excellent, please feel confident in your work
Thank you so much for the motivation🕹❤️🙏 definitely will keep making videos, abit busy lately with work and family, will be back soon
Your a legend man, thank you so much for this!
Anytime ♥️
ok dude. thank you for making this. oro just came out and i didnt know anything about the charge buffer
Anytime happy to help 🙏❤️
If you don’t know number notation think of it like a keypad:
789
456
123
Where 5 is neutral, 9 is forward jump, and 1 is down back for example.
Granblue is really fun!
Cloudbuilder yea i heard, but isnt unist came out 2012? Which is 8 years ago?
wow amazing video. your thoroughness is appreciated
Thank you, hopefully it helps ❤️🙏🕹
Thanks for explanation,I watching this to play with my favs like Bison and Vega
thank you for watching 🙏❤️
Amazing explanation, so amazingly explained
Thank you ❤️🙏
Great guide! I've only been playing SF for a month so this is really helpful.
Happy to help 🙏❤️😊
Great explanation!! I love it. I got dragon slay arcade stick. Nothing special but I'm new with sticks.
Thank you so much, glad it was able to help, i seen that stick online, the specs looks pretty good too. ❤️🙏
I've been waiting for a video like this forever
Phú Nguyễn thank you, it was always on my to do list since a year ago, i just havent gotten the chance yet, work and family responsibilities 🙏❤️
@@JoystickNY No worries man. Being a family man is the most important
Phú Nguyễn very true 😊 👍
Thanks for this. I just recently (as in today lol) considered starting to play charge characters after having avoided them for my 25-yr fighting game life.
I feel you , they can get pretty tough sometimes, charge characters are more work than regular characters 🙏❤️
thank you for this video... i'm making a fighting game and using this video as a frame of reference for design.
Thank you for watching 🙏❤️ let me know how it goes when you are finish, happy to check it out when you publish it
Thank you so much for this! There are so many SFV characters I wanna use but I can't because I suck at charging, now I have some confidence to play them :D
Take your time, charge chara takes more work and time to master. Once u get it down, it becomes 2nd nature; u wont even know you are doing it
@01:18 Level 1: Basic Charge
@04:34 Level 2: Charge Buffer
@08:20 Level 3: BnB Basic Chargue Combo

Thank you for watching 🙏❤️
Nice explanation, great job !
thank you for watching 🙏❤️
Thank you for all your hard work. its very useful, keep up the great work.
Thank you for the support 🙏❤️
You just gained a sub, please do more of pad inputs
Chidi Ijeoma thank you, any suggestions or examples ? 🙏❤️
@@JoystickNY I find it very difficult to string combos in sfv and I use charge characters, it's very difficult for me
Chidi Ijeoma your are right, charge character are actually more difficult to use than circular motion character, its take a lot more time to get good with a charge character, and it also takes a lot more planning when playing a charge character, and also, using a stick for charge character is alot easier. who do you use?
@@JoystickNY I use guile
Chidi Ijeoma yea, guile can be tough, ehonda would be even tougher. Ever consider using a stick?
This video was very informative and helpful to my gameplay with M. Bison in SFV. Thank you.
Thank you for the support 🙏❤️ happy to hear it helped 😊
Awesome video for charge characters ! Thanks a million ! Keep up the good work !
Thank you 🙏❤️ i will keep it up
@@JoystickNY cheers !
