The issue also was that Fifa nerfed the ability of lower rated palyers. Back in Fifa 11-14 my Silver teams were absolutely boss and as I was a decent 7/10 I could win more than I didn't.
This is exactly why I’ve played ‘Seasons’ since the game mode first came out. I knew FUT was a dangerous route and I’m glad I didn’t go down it. The amount of money people have splashed out on this game is insane. EA are exploiting them and setting them up as you say, potential ‘future degenerate gamblers’. Quality video btw 👏🏽
I spent about 15 minutes in FUT and said "nah" and went back to Seasons, where I've spent so many hours grinding to division 1. It's pretty blatant that they haven't put any love and care into that mode since the first year it came out, which is really sad. They could've honestly had tiers across star ratings streamlined many times over so it could've been a major part of people's enjoyment of the game. But they've only invested anything into UT for about 7-8 years now.
Nah the real reason is div 1 players in seasons cant reach div 4 or higher in fut . U r missing alot of fun by building your team frome scratch whithout paying a dime
@@محمدجبار-ض4ح the real reason is div 7 player in seasons destroys div 1 player from FUT on manual/semi controls because FUT kids are used to AI making all the passes perfect.
It's actually disgusting and they shouldn't be proud of what they've done. Essentially promoting and encouraging underage gambling. FIFA, the TH-camrs and coin websites
That’s the thing, buying fifa points is literally gambling because you don’t know what you get for the money. But if you buy coins you know exactly what you will get.
@@tvforreal6614both you shouldn't buy just earn them like any normal player I already have lots of 90+ players without spending a penny bad side about buying coins is EA find out you get banned from the market and your balance getting wiped with fifa points it's expensive but you don't get banned. Coins are stupidly priced same with points
While true you have to remember most of the TH-camrs promoting the game at the time where 17-19, they didn't know how long the FIFA boom would last so guaranteeing another 6 figures a month is almost impossible to say no to
Atleast you know what you're getting when you buy coins... ea promoting fifa points is a LOT worse and they ruined the game by having shit gameplay every year and getting of any fun modes we can actually play.
It massacred other game modes as well. Their golden goose is FUT packs so they put little to no effort into other game modes (pls make pro clubs great again 😢)
I quit playing 3 years back when it was obvious they didn't care about Pro Clubs anymore. Really sucks, since loved playing with my friends on there. After we lost that, our group fractured.
I never understood the crazyness behind UT . People on social media were only talking about UT cards and not tactics or skill moves . Your info about coin " mafia " is very interesting, you should do some more videos .
It’s a casino of sports it’s wild how one company EA’s monetisation is so bad they created new laws in the uk to protect people from random loot boxes being exploited 💀
Fifa 23 i had a full rare gold squad within an hour of first opening ultimate team. I miss the days when a full rare gold squad came with hours of playing the game, but that was when gameplay was fun and captivating
Nahh I believe I read something that CoD purposefully put you into easier skill based lobbies if you purchased items for a short time, I imagine it's the same with Fifa which is pretty much killing the idea of getting home from a 10 hour shift and looking forward to a game of fifa
@@ProdxShakes1 Exactly well said. Live service games are good but they've become so battle pass and loot box driven that they've lost that passion and joy of just actual gaming for the casual person who's not gonna have all day to slog a game and probably just wants to hop online and enjoy for a bit without having to grind everything. Hopefully one day we see it slow down coz rn single player story games are our only hope coz those ones still come correct, no microtransactions no BS just a good game and occasionally good DLC on top during the life cycle of the game
One year I paid about £80 for the new Fifa game with all the extra stuff like getting to play sooner and so on. Then over the year, I would spend between 20-60 on points each month and it didnt seem like a big deal because it didnt look like I had spent much of my wages. Then in June the next year I realised I must've spent about 500-700 quid that year on Fifa and I had nothing to show for it, my team was just the same as everyone elses, even people who didnt pay for any points. Then a new fifa was announced and my team was left behind. Fifa ultimate team is a trap, you pay 80 quid for a very similar game each year and the temptation to spend extra for worthless packs is massive. I havent bought the new games since then and I dont intend to any time soon.
I haven't bought or played FIFA in years. I used to like playing the single player modes like Be A Pro or Manager Mode, but year after year it seemed like 100% of the development focus was on Ultimate Team, a mode I utterly despised! Bugs and issues that existed in single player modes 10 or 15 years ago are _still there_ because they only care about their FUT cash cow and they keep releasing the same goddamned game year after year after year, just with a roster update and a new skin!
Fun thing: I played Fifa in the ol' days (20 years ago) and I recently started playing FIFA23. It's utterly disgusting to play online. It's a pay-to-win game and I noticed after 5 games it's impossible to win without spending hundreds of Euros. So I only play offline, because I'm from en era you have play to unlock everything, not swipe your fkn card!
Yep I went to the same school as Josh and Tobi and just a little older than them. They were always painted as heroes by our old school but like they were part of a system exploiting kids. I think great for them that they made a lot of money and have had great fame BUT still they should not be so highly celebrated. Like Phat Memer said, I would have done the same thing but I would in no way want to be celebrated as a hero.
I tried FUT this year without buying any coins - it was okay, but it was difficult to keep up with all the new cards or SBCs and I figured that I end up spending more time playing SBCs or grinding for these cards rather than enjoying game. It is possible to have a competitive team without spending real money, but it requires grinding and much of time and playing online. The main problem for me is simply the amount of cards that there is and time you spent there.
The thing is with buying coins of a website you know what you get for the money. And if you buy fifa points it’s all about luck, you could get very little for 100€ for example.
To be fair in like 2017 at a sleepover with me mate as kids we went back to fifa 14 and we quick sold every item of in me mates club and just did pack openings selling everything and trying to get the best team out of a million coins and we ended up packing ronaldo without paying
I think fifa died with the introduction of a million different cards. It massively inflated the market and it made the special cards less special. I do think the introduction of game modes like cut champs helped the game by giving a legit way to get good rewards for being a good player rather than having to rely on packs. But endless rewards killed the achievement of getting a special kind of player.
@@allusivestorm762 yeah I remember the tournaments in fifa 12 for the inform cards. Think I lost in the final for a Honda inform card. Was gutted as well because he would have slotted into my Russian League team

I never played Fifa UT as much as Madden UT. Same story, being competitive in Madden is a job. You need to constantly learn new exploitable plays and tactics as well as constantly upgrading your team.
never played online but I loved replaying the single player drafts on madden when it was replayable and loved the fifa draft when they brought it there now you need draft tokens or some stupid shit so don’t even touch ultimate team on anything at all now. I have 3 builds on 2k and that’s either atleast £75 each for 85ovr if that and I don’t get how they can be allowed to just erase your shit and your currency from one year and just ask for another £100 per build with like £70 for the game itself so I buy 2k every 2-3 years depending how much of an improvement their is and with madden and fifa I just play last years free on EA access I am not wasting money on their cash grabs anymore
The fact that EA stopped caring about other things in the game and only focused on ultimate team since that’s what got them the most money is what destroyed FIFA. I’ve played FIFA ever since FIFA 11-21 and every FIFA I’ve bought was for the sake of career mode, had they just invested half the time and money they put in ultimate into career mode, FIFA would’ve been a much better game. I stopped buying FIFA after FIFA 21 but thinking of making a comeback this year if the career mode is improved.
This video was really well done, I love sports games like fifa and nba2k but the way microtransactions are imbedded in them ruin the magic of their online game modes
I can almost guarentee EA has a hand in the coins black market. You dont turn a blind eye to someone taking money out of your companies profit unless youre benefitting somehow someway. Not for this long at least. Theyre probably letting it slide and that benefits them somehow to where its not worth stopping it or they themselves are on the other end in some capacity eating the chocolate bar from both ends.
Don't get people being pissed about being scammed....dont put your own money into it..simple. I'm an average player and have a 94 rated squad just by grinding, using time well and not excessively at that. I'd never put a penny into the game and I still enjoy it.

I don´t know if this comment will get read or not but I feel it adds another layer to this video (probably gonna be a long comment as well) I used to make FIFA content on twitter (in spanish). I started off in 2019 and left in 2021, and I built a decent community of around 12k people. And let me tell you something, the DIFFERENCE between those two periods was HUGE. When I started, content creators cared about the game, they would make content for fun, and although coin selling pages and this type of things existed, creators neither cared too much about them nor made those things their main source of income Now, pretty much every creator has AT LEAST one of the following - A connection with a coin selling page where they get a commission for every sell the page gets - A premium discord server where they charge people generally for trading tips to make coins in the game (And of course, half of those creators either don´t know how to make coins for themselves or just steal content from other servers) - Also discord servers (and pages) where they (and a few more people) charge players for playing their FUT Champs or objectives games (charging from 20 dollars to as much as 150 for as little as ONE weekend league) - Nowadays they also started having their own coin selling pages (again, you are paying at least 6 dollars for 100k and honestly if you are going down the buying coins route, you are at least going to buy a million -> 60 dollars which is pretty much what the full game costs) And there´s twitter creators with something like 500k followers. Just take a second and imagine how much money THEY are making, let alone EA (their number is so stupid at this point that I don´t even want to think about it. For reference just think for a moment how many packs they sell in a lightning round and multiply that by how much a pack cost) The worst part is that they make this money mainly off of little kids who just spend their parents money And I´m not gonna be an hypocrite here. Back then in 2021, I was as close as you can get from having a discord server with a few lads where we would play people their games in FUT Champs and objectives and also give a few tips about the game in general (I was never good at trading to help people with that). And at the end I didn´t do it for two reasons. 1) (and probably the main reason) I didn´t have the balls to do it and 2) Every time I thought about a little kid paying me to play his games as much as he paid for the full game, I just couldn´t, I wasn´t able to do that. It´s just an obscene amount of money that as an argentine who knows how much that amount of dollars represents in our currency couldn´t have slept doing that. Sure, had I started that server, I would have probably forgotten about my morals after 4 or 5 clients, but now in hindsight I am happy I didn´t do it One final thing, there were also a lot of respectable creators who just weren´t out there trying to scam people. But they were the minority, and with how much FIFA now costs (in time, money and mental health) they are just becoming extinct. TLDR; The story of ABSURD amount of money made not only by EA but CONTENT CREATORS in twitter (by a guy who was a creator)
This certainly showed me a side of FIFA TH-camrs I never knew about. Buying other people’s footage to make a fake reaction video? My previous channel was a FIFA channel and looking back, I didn’t spend mega bucks, but knowing the big guys had connections and fake footage is a kick in the teeth I guess.
I played football games(FIFA & PES) since 2006 and I not even once payed a dime. For me my carrer as a player and a menager was good singlplayer exp, but playing regular games with my friends is the best way to enjoy these games
The reason I started playing ultimate team was so I can play against real life opponents with a team of particular players I enjoy. I'm also gutted it took more than 10 years to change the way of chemistry and when they changed it last year, you were still held back with some requirements. Imagine a team where you can have any player from any league/club/country and it would still play like a 100 chemistry team? Not even considering my progressive chemistry system where teams with low chem could improve after winning this many games or scoring that many goals.
To be fair RTGs are far more common these days. There just arent that many videos centered around buying points and opening packs these days. The entire idea of an RTG is to prove the fact that you DON'T have to spend any money to get a good team. And they do it every time. I personally have run an RTG (obviously not as content) very very successfully because of this idea. And pretty much every creater, even including the few that do buy points to open packs, are very open about NOT buying points because they arent worth it. And the pack results in the video prove over and over again that its not worth it. Ive been playing FUT for 10 years, and yes, back in the day content was centered around packing the best player. But its just not that way anymore and honestly hasnt been the main thing since fifa 17/18. Whats been promoted since 17 (when SBCs and menu grinding became a thing) is "Look at what we can build with no money spent" In no way am i saying this video is incorrect. It absolutely is. Im just saying theres a lot more to this than presented.
Fifa Menu Ultimate team, I remember sitting there for hours on the menu just buying and selling making coins not even playing the game .... shit was addictive
I was gambling with Fut Galaxy at the age of 15. The game is even worse now that it’s pretty much entirely PTW. There used to be ways to make coins without having to rely on luck or being good at the game. Now all those methods are gone in favor of “store packs” I remember back when 100k packs were a rare thing and now they’re there literally daily and they have 500k packs now.
@@smolmemes2351 Oh of course. But now it's way worse because every non PTW method of making coins has been made obselete. You either have to have god tier luck, or no life the game.
Best mode they ever had was “fifa interactive leagues” where you played your teams upcoming fixture against your teams upcoming opponent OR ALTERNATIVELY you played as your rivals opponent in their upcoming fixture. It added spice to the game as you had the opportunity as an LFC fan for example to win at old trafford vs MUFC with west brom etc. I’ve never played ultimate team as its never appealed to me so just play online as LFC vs the exact same teams (psg/madrid) as EA don’t want to make the game interesting to non-ultimate team players
Ultimate team is fun and fine. It’s the ability to use real money that killed it. If it was just a mode where you earn coins through play it would be awsome.
I liked your comment but I don’t even want to think about that cause it’s simply not happening, EA is not just dumping 1,7bn dollars to make the change the players want, hopefully there will be win win solutions (there already are) and EA will move their butts and implement them
This is the my first fifa in years where i haven't spent a single penny on the game and i have to give EA props cause you honestly don't need to anymore play enough of the game and you can get the players you want.
I recently got rid of my FIFA because I thought I was getting irrationally angry at the game (when it nerfed my team AI in career mode against a 'stronger' opponent rather than, you know, having their AI be superior).
Really interesting to a guy like me who had his head buried offline in the Career Mode sand all those years. It's a different world. FUT consumed the series, completely distracting efforts from the gameplay which has regressed significantly in the kast five years.
In the days of old you could actually be competitive with a 10k team. Imagine trying that in fut23 haha. Thats whats gone missing imo, the power curve is crazy meaning you have to treat fut as a second job to compete at the top levels.
I played Fifa96 as my first. Left in 2002, returned Fifa13, but did not play UT. I enjoyed career modes. Just like in NBA2K. Due to my son I bought Fifa22. We played RTG. We were able to create a good team during Futties. Before the last promo we had very mediocre team mainly from sbc and objectives. This year we bought the game in January for half the price. I must say, that compared to Fifa22 the game is more oriented to buying packs. There more packs in store, the good ones untradeable. When you look at some vids you see how many people open those packs with Fifa points. It is crazy. For virtual players. As many here had written. It is gambling. This game is a prison, gulag and casino at once. It also should be a mental institution for some players. Few days ago I made an experiment. During Shapeshifters 3 I opened many packs of 84,85 and 86+ ratings. I did not pack a single promo card. Using coins I have I have bought so called 500k pack. Zero specials. Then with Fifa points I have opened a pack for 500fp and got a special card of Maguire. Not the cheapest one. So You can see. If you load up, you get a good team. That is why if you want to follow a good YT for fifa watch a guy like Botas aka Boraslegend and his RTG (zero shareplay pack openings) or Runthefutmarket Nick, but Nick is opening shareplay packs. There was also a true legend Italian Stalion. Best Fifa critic and for me best player, who never abused mechanics, skills, formations and meta players.
I think what’s killed UT is gameplay and EA for some reason making every game mode super competitive. Don’t get me wrong the competitive game modes did also improve the game but in my own experience there isn’t a game mode that I can go into and just chill and get rewarded. In the past seasons felt chill. Not too overly competitive. That’s nice to have. And needed. Now every game mode is about how many games you can win or have to win. Playing the game feels like chore imo
People only open packs and don’t play the actual game Another thing is that ut isn’t bad in itself the bad thing that ruins it is the unbalance between players because you have players that actually put in work and don’t cheat their way by spending money and the other players just buy fifa points and coins
I don't think people understand how crazy this was, like I still buy coins at certain points in the year when it's cheap because I can't be bothered to grind when I get 11 wins in champs and get nothing every week. But 1 MIL say around March was like 120 CAD, but back in Fifa 15 I bought 10 MILLION COINS IN MARCH FOR 50 CAD. DO YOU NOT REALIZE HOW CRACKED THAT WAS? 😭

I just want Career Mode to be a focus, it’s so glitchy and just gets boring so quickly. That’s why I prefer Football Manager.
@@lilboatracer6959 Yep I don't even like baseball but MLB the Show is, and I'm not exaggerating, the best sports game on the market by magnitudes right now. It shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as 2k, madden, and Fifa.

Happily say I’m the say from fifa 13 days I haven’t spent a dime only on the game itself 😊😊

It's not the YTers. At least not back then. Maybe now, but not back then.

Microtransactions are the bane of modern gaming. Fantastic watch and discussion 👊🏿

The editing put into these videos is so well done
I tried FUT this year without buying any coins - it was okay, but it was difficult to keep up with all the new cards or SBCs and I figured that I end up spending more time playing SBCs or grinding for these cards rather than enjoying game. It is possible to have a competitive team without spending real money, but it requires grinding and much of time and playing online. The main problem for me is simply the amount of cards that there is and time you spent there.
Exactly, by the time you get a really pro team, there's already fifa 24 😢
As someone who lived this video, it’s so spot on and very well made 😊 trade offers and no price ranges hit so different.
As someone who grew up with FUT and these TH-camrs rise, plateau and dash across to podcasting, this was really interesting.
I remember when it was actually crazy to have a colored card. Now they literally hand you one 1 second into the game

I don´t know if this comment will get read or not but I feel it adds another layer to this video (probably gonna be a long comment as well)
I used to make FIFA content on twitter (in spanish). I started off in 2019 and left in 2021, and I built a decent community of around 12k people.
And let me tell you something, the DIFFERENCE between those two periods was HUGE. When I started, content creators cared about the game, they would make content for fun, and although coin selling pages and this type of things existed, creators neither cared too much about them nor made those things their main source of income
Now, pretty much every creator has AT LEAST one of the following
- A connection with a coin selling page where they get a commission for every sell the page gets
- A premium discord server where they charge people generally for trading tips to make coins in the game (And of course, half of those creators either don´t know how to make coins for themselves or just steal content from other servers)
- Also discord servers (and pages) where they (and a few more people) charge players for playing their FUT Champs or objectives games (charging from 20 dollars to as much as 150 for as little as ONE weekend league)
- Nowadays they also started having their own coin selling pages (again, you are paying at least 6 dollars for 100k and honestly if you are going down the buying coins route, you are at least going to buy a million -> 60 dollars which is pretty much what the full game costs)
And there´s twitter creators with something like 500k followers. Just take a second and imagine how much money THEY are making, let alone EA (their number is so stupid at this point that I don´t even want to think about it. For reference just think for a moment how many packs they sell in a lightning round and multiply that by how much a pack cost)
The worst part is that they make this money mainly off of little kids who just spend their parents money
And I´m not gonna be an hypocrite here. Sure, had I started that server, I would have probably forgotten about my morals after 4 or 5 clients, but now in hindsight I am happy I didn´t do it
One final thing, there were also a lot of respectable creators who just weren´t out there trying to scam people. But they were the minority, and with how much FIFA now costs (in time, money and mental health) they are just becoming extinct.
TLDR; The story of ABSURD amount of money made not only by EA but CONTENT CREATORS in twitter (by a guy who was a creator)
Great video!
Whats been promoted since 17 (when SBCs and menu grinding became a thing) is "Look at what we can build with no money spent"
In no way am i saying this video is incorrect. It absolutely is. Im just saying theres a lot more to this than presented.
FUT didn’t destroy FIFA. Fifa TH-camrs destroyed Fifa.

Overall, 4RA has made cricket season a highlight of the year for us. Can’t imagine it without the app now!
Phat Memer never misses
I was gambling with Fut Galaxy at the age of 15.
The game is even worse now that it’s pretty much entirely PTW. There used to be ways to make coins without having to rely on luck or being good at the game. Now all those methods are gone in favor of “store packs”
I remember back when 100k packs were a rare thing and now they’re there literally daily and they have 500k packs now.
It was pay to win from the moment they introduced FUT lmao.. its crazy how nobody sees this
@@smolmemes2351 Oh of course.

Good thing I only care about career mode. I never touch FUT
People only open packs and don’t play the actual game
Another thing is that ut isn’t bad in itself the bad thing that ruins it is the unbalance between players because you have players that actually put in work and don’t cheat their way by spending money and the other players just buy fifa points and coins
6:23 I swear you keep fifa points from older fifas when the new one comes out
Thanks to 4RA, the cricket season has become so much fun for us all We always discuss matches together now
Bro should've included Chris, Josh and Tobi in that intro.
Surely the best option is to make fut its own game separate from those who actually want a great manager mode
As a 10 years+ FIFA player, I only play the online season mode. That is where the real good players are in the world.
Bro gaming in general is no longer the same, only reason why I still buy the next fifa game is because that’s the only relevant video game out there.😢
