My buddy's 20 year old son works for a Peterbilt dealership he never worked on anything before not even a bicycle he was hired as a helper within a couple weeks he was plugging in the computer and changing parts. He is very proud to say ''they dont even check my work'' & I asked him how many local trucks come back for the same problem he said almost all of them because the trucks are junk. He is to stupid to know he is part of the problem!
I was reading this hoping for a great story for an up and coming diesel mechanic..... Then I read "He is too stupid to know he is apart of the problem!" LOL dang... he needs to put the tools down and learn from a real mechanic because hes going to get someone hurt!
This is crazy and totally uncalled for. When my son was over the road, there were a few different shops he learned NOT to take his truck back to them for the same stuff you're going thru. The damage that was done, and they were very slow in getting it done. Same time they have the truck, they did more unseen damage and found out down the road breaking down. So sorry for you and other truckers that are in same situation. Stay safe OT ROOKIE 💙🙏
Understand your frustration bro! My truck had been in the shop for 2 months. I had to get a brand new suspension, fifth wheel & batteries. I have a 07 frieghtshaker
Yup, I was at Horwith Freightliner in PA for an overhead, when I went to pick up the truck, my radiator fluid was leaking… it wasn’t when I brought it there. 3 days later I climbed on my steer to clean the windshield and I notice the air intake to turbo was not secured and was sending in unfiltered air. Some of these guys are amazingly shoddy. Dealerships, TA, Loves, they are all charging you crazy amount of money to ruin your equipment
This is why running one old truck as a 1-man owner op can be a hard way to make a living. Old trucks develop gremlins and it gets frustrating. Buying a brand new one used to be a pretty reliable tactic, but we know how that goes these days. That can be an even riskier idea. Having another older backup truck almost starts to seem worth it when the downtime really piles up. Something is obviously up if it keeps eating seals. My first thought is something is out of balance and beating it up...the seal going bad is just the symptom of the real problem. Flywheel and pilot bearing, clutch disk, transmission input shaft, harmonic balancer...anything that's spinning that has too much wobble or end play could be doing it. Crankshaft itself maybe? Lets hope not. This gets tough relying on other people when you can't see and feel the parts yourself looking for something that ain't right. They generally wont take the time to do that.
Good luck bro, I’ve experienced the same with the stealerships. I pain $31K for new heads and an in frame in 2015. Why the truck never pulled near as good as b4 and every time they looked at it somehow the warranty didn’t cover it 😤 Never again

Most mechanics these days are just not that good... you need to find that old man mechanic that loves his work and has done it for years... and is now just in it for something to do... :)

Incompetence is everywhere these days.
It really got bad honestly 25 years ago.
No real mechanics this day. That's why I do my own work.
Me too

Those dirt bags need to be held accountable.
What they did to you is completely unacceptable.
They should be ashamed of themselves.

If you breakdown in Oklahoma go to Freightliner in Oklahoma City and asked for Jim Stewart best mechanic there.

The quality of work in general in this country is embarrassing. People just don't care about their jobs.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Sounds like the freightliner in lincoln ne
Dealerships are useless with a technician find you own mechanic and do your maintenance,
rms leak on a new engine... what... sounds like something is out of spec and it isnt sealing
Crazy experience. Those guys are either frauds or complete amateurs or both.
It is time to hire a lawyer and get corporate involved. The $5k you spend will be well worth it.
