What an excellent video! I had the exact same problem on my Saab 9-3 2003. Went straight for the cables and...one of them was broken! Fixed it myself in an hour and saved a lot of money. Thanks Rob!
GM made big mistake by not providing a keyway for the trunk to be opened with a simple key. The old methods are almost always superior to the "high tech" improvements that will eventually fail.
Is it posdible to open the boot from the inside when it's looked? I am going to camp in one 🙂 I saw on some video of a 95 that there was an emergency latch...
Had both for a really long time all readily available from Amazon or elsewhere online. Butane soldering Iron & Heat shrink tubing. Cant remember where I got mine from.
In my case I have a similar issue, buy my problem is that the white (+12) continuous cord dont have power. I dont know if this system have a fuse because all the fuses in the rear module are ok.
I got an issue 08saab 9-3 where the trunk won’t open , the license plate lights don’t turn on , if they do turn on they deem off , and don’t have the back right blinker Would appreciate if you could help ? Thank you 😊 gray videos 🤘
turned out my car key could open it but not the button on the trunk. dodged a bullet right there. I just finished replacing bonnet release cable, dead battery, broken brake hose and line, leaking washers and then that damn trunk wouldnt open. I almost lost my shit tbh.
i could have done with this today, i was in the boot of a saab 9_3 , as you were , trying to get the boot open, to remove the rear lights, and i removed all the trim,EXCEPT the trim you removed, boy was i cursing saab`s ! got the oxy acetelene out in the end and CUT thru it with that, as ramming the fork lift into the boot and lifting the car up, didnt work ! got it open in the end, i forgot to mention this was a SCRAP car, not a road worthy vehicle, will use your method next time.......MUCH easier lol !!!!!
@@OneAuto I tried to move latch with a screwdriver and it moves and looks like its not broken, but when i try lock /unlock i not see any movement with latch and not hear any sound from lock or inside taildoor. What you say,is there fuses or relay which i should check also? I think i go and get Saab repairshop to solve out this problem unless it fixes by changing fuse or relay.
Problem solved. I pushed latch upwards and at same time pushed hidden button inside pull up opening handle outside trunk door. Then just dropped trunk door down and lock started to work normally.

Good news, glad it helped you out!
You brought me directly to the right spot.
Multiples other wires were harmed as well.
Thanks a lot!
Thanks, your excellent "Saab 9-3 Boot (Trunk) won't open" VID, it helped me to tell a man, what to look for to fix my Saab with this issue. :):):)
Glad he got it sorted ;)
I just thought to myself what if the boot switched failed, lo and behold I found your video and 1.9 diesels are brilliant vehicles btw!
Nice diagnosis & repair Rob. Yep just look for the hinge point of the harness same as doors.
Great diagnosis & repair, love the music.
Bruh the claustrophobia would kill lol. Great video!

Yep, I agree , LOVELY, True fault finding at its very best, WELL DONE!!

Or even a pull cable accessible from the back seat. Motor? Gears? A solenoid exists GM.
I have the same problem and I found it thanks to you but 5 wires are cut and I don't know which one goes with.
I have the same problem and just wondered how long a job like this should take roughly
Excellent work!

Hi RobThank you for the video. Do you have any details on the soldering tool / heatshrink tool you used?
Had both for a really long time all readily available from Amazon or elsewhere online. Butane soldering Iron & Heat shrink tubing. Cant remember where I got mine from.
This is an excellent video
Thanks
Well done, sir!
M.D. S Cheers
Lovely video. I think your videos have a high quality :-)
+Krillekris Thank you, glad you liked it.

How much did it cost the customer? Would imagine a lot of cars in this price range have been scraped for less.
I have the same issue but I have no power coming out of the module on the gey connector. All fuses are ok. Any idea?
great job great video !

Sounds like you may have a few wires broken as in the video for the plate lamps and trunk lock The right blinker would be a separate issue.
Thank you.
What if the ski hatch is closed?
HI Great video i have the same problem and noticed some of my fuses are upside down could that be the problem also
lol yes make sure they’re all up the right way
@@OneAuto Actually turned them around and noticed a 30 amp fuse was missing have no idea why. good news TRUNK started WORKING immedaitely
Thanks. Дякую.
Hi Sir

Wait this one doesn’t have the emergency trunk release the glow in the dark plastic handle ?
Correct. The Euro models did not come with one
Will this work for 2007 Saab 9-3?
Quite possibly
can you tell me the fuse holder number?

😂 love it.. extreme mechanics! 💪
My 2007 9-5 2.3 t wagon developed a problem today when i tried close trunk, its not locking it. Could this be a wire issue as well?
If it’s not locking it could be a wire problem. If it’s not latching it could be a latch problem

thank you sir
asaari muda You're welcome sir
Oke..
How do you realy move the Seats forward.
Couse Its a trick it self
I would have ? Hooked the wires together do more strength before soldering, that could go again
