  • Driving our old Motorhome called Herb up and over the Black Mountain. Taking things easy at no more than 25mph in 3rd or 2nd gear. 1st gear in places. Coffee break with stones and small rocks behind rear wheels.

Well done for braving that drive. Many would not have tried. Some of these mountain roads frighten me when I'm driving a car.

Why did you sell the Talbot ? Mechanical issues or just wanted a new one ?

Basically cost of running several vehicles. Paying for storage costs. So sold car and the Talbot. Purchased Mazda Bongo as everyday vehicle and can park it in front of bungalow on drive. Etc. Saving around £1500 a year. George plus we are pensioners and Mazda is automatic .

Did you have many issues with the Talbot? I watched your videos and noticed just some maintenance been done, nothing major. I am struggling with a blocked clutch, the campervan wasn't started for over 3 years. It started with a new battery at the first key but can't select any gear whilst the engine is running.

Clutch can rust onto flywheel when stored. Common problem on many vehicles. Watch out though. On the Talbot there is a rain drain pipe from air vent under bonnet if in wrong place it drains rain water on bell housing and into clutch. My fiat car used to clutch rusting onto flywheel. I drilled a hole into bell housing big enough to insert a kitchen knife. With engine not running and someone pressing the clutch pedal down I could put knife in hole and prize clutch plate from flywheel. That sorted it. George

Wow amazing views! Herb seems to be doing well!
How have gearbox temps been now days on these long uphill runs?

Still loose reverse now and again. I reckon it's linkage problems due to saggy engine mounts. Engine moves under heavy load etc in its mounts. Into neutral turn engine off wait a minute. Turn engine on and reverse works. On flat ground.
