I just came back from nyc flagship milk bar and I have to say how surprised I was at how much I hated it. Everything was SUPER sweet like nauseating so. It was worse than e eating a spoonful of sugar. And everything was so heavy. Like thick and tense like there was too much butter. To be clear, I tried 2 Cookies, the strawberry short cake, 4 different cake balls, and the ice cream. I thought I had to like one thing. But no. I was so disgusted and nauseated after the experience. My bf and I shared a small ice cream cup and over half went to the trash. He felt so sick after eating it. It was just an over all disappointing experience. I was so excited too. This is sadly just overhyped and over sweetened . Not worth it at all. 😢

i always thought the texture of cake balls was as if someone chewed up leftover cake, spit it out, and rolled it in a ball

I have made these a few times but my white chocolate is a nightmare to work with. How do you get it so fluid? I have tried microwave and double broiler. Is it the brand of white chocolate I'm working with? What brand do you recommend? And do I need to add some liquid or something to it to get it so thin? thank you for any advice!

She said white chocolate chips and canola oil. Other than that, I don't know.

@@Mairiain It doesn't mention that in her book and admittedly, I was multi tasking when I watched the video so I missed that!! I just went back and rewatched the video, so THANK YOU for pointing that out. Super helpful.

    Cake pops, no?

I think the difference between these truffles and your traditional cake pop is the ingredients. Cake pops usually call for mixing cake with frosting, resulting in an overly sweet dessert because frosting is just all sugar and butter. Tosi's truffle recipe just calls for some kind liquid that will complement with the cake flavor, i.e. vanilla milk for birthday cake truffle, lemonade for strawberry lemon truffle, etc. plus applying only a thin coat of chocolate and rolling in a dry ingredient for crunch and texture.

Please don’t use canola oil unless it’s nonGMO.

I hate her videos so much. She's all smiles and then tells you to make these five different recipes, without giving out any ingredients or measurements most of the time, and then acts like it's the easiest thing in the world! When really, they are all just ads to go buy her stuff.

sebeckley what do you need measurements for ? It’s just crumbled cake..

sebeckley this video is very easy to follow. I do agree that baking is not an easy subject matter to learn quickly. But Tosi is everything but a traditional baker. She is using ingredients that are easily found everywhere. Lighten up and pull your sleeves up. Follow her video and enjoy a sweet that you won’t find anywhere but in her shop.
