If you’re trying to grow knees you’re going to need a much wider pot. I would start by repotting it in the masonry bin you have it sitting in with a generous amount of substrate. The hardest part will be finding an even larger container to soak it in! Knees take years to develop plus there’s no guarantee they will even if given the right conditions. Not trying to discourage you, just a friendly warning so you’re not too disappointed if it never happens. Either way, giving the tree a wider pot will allow the trunk more space to swell while you’re waiting for knees. Fingers crossed! Incredible specimen and great video, btw! Hope to see more of this one!
Thank you very much. Yes i will be up potting into a larger container and jst let it grow crazy. That is the goal 😁. Pretty excited to see what i can get it to develop . But i honestly doubt it will develop knees 😮
Cool tricks I know what you said about flat tops but with all of the foliage concentrated on top you could really see that unique trunk cool tree either way
Nice Balcony,! Which direction does it face? Are you going to pump up the Light with Grow lights? I have a balcony grow and a few Bald Cypress in Alameda California but they will not grow as fast as yours because our weather is not near as hot as they can take. I intend to grow my 3 tree compilation in a formal upright style as I think flat tops dont do much for me and they should in my opinion have more foliage than the flat Tops allow especially when confined to a restricted pot. I made a mistake and planted mine in fine Akadama thinking that was the thing to do since then I learned that at our stage of development, we want big roots to make big wood to give us taper and ramification so a training pot for now, and chunky bigger pieces of sub straight and that near Houston Heat and that thing could be beautiful in four years. The closer to the top your next cut is the more fluted and elegant the tree. Nice Show. I grew up in Orange on the Tx.La border,.but I would not recommend it. Cheers=P
Hello, great question i am not too sure which side it faces , but i lose sunlight after November up until mid February , i have thought about grow lights jst not sure how good they do, but i have only decideous trees dormancy helps with the no light, and yes i feel the same about bald cypress with the traditional style upright , I feel like flat tops always look incomplete for some reason . This texas weather have the trees really growing like crazy
@@lifeofbonsai Wow, cool you are right about the deciduous Trees. You can use your phone as a compass and if you line it up with the outside rail you will then know. I use LED Grow lights they are called F1s and they supply enough light to grow weed so I thought they would be fine and that turned out to be the case I burn them 5 or six hours a day to add punch for sunshine that might be in and out during the day or season. They love it and the electricity isn't much compared to the older HMI lights.. Finally this. I am an older Trans woman who felt like I had to leave my home years ago to seek help that would not try to harm me. It is good to see beautiful young people enjoying Bonsai from near home. So thank you for the reply back and If you have any Bonsai/ Rigging questions that you think I may have answers to please ask. Cheers -P
@@PatriciaOConnorBonsaiBalcony thank you so much for this tips. I will definitely look into investing on this lights. I have one more month and half of sun then my trees won't get any sun at all. I really do appreciate your support 😁 and tips
