    That's my dad's Marantz!!! He is so very happy with it 😁😁!
    You did a wonderful repair. You are very talented.
    Thank you very much. I enjoyed watching the video, seeing how all was done 👍👍👍

    Love the fact that you kept the mistakes in, best lessons learned. Dial cords are a pain!

    I had all of the lamps on hand except the dial indicator. Rather than wait for a lamp to show up, and pay shipping for a small part I used a single white/yellow LED, a 1N4004 diode and a 470 ohm resistor that I already had. The resistor limits the current and the diode protects the led from excess reverse voltage on each negative half cycle. The length of the body of the LED was compact and about half the length of a standard diode. When assembled it fit perfect inside the black housing.

      I don't have this one but I have 4 models above it like the 2220 and the 2238. I once repaired a 4 channel Marantz receiver from this time period and it sounded better to me than a number of the higher powered 2 channel models.

    Appreciate you showing all the trial n error with that damn string (looked like rope in video, camera magnification). I say this because my Mod 125 had a small fray, but was able to fix with quality glue, light filing after drying. Also using 2 layers of vellum, was not able to get 48 lb vellum, got 57 lb and was a little concerned about clarity but you answered question for me, 57 lb should be perfect. Please tell Dave Thanks for putting up with education on lighting with these Marantz units, Pioneer, Kenwood, Yamaha not even close to how temperamental this Marantz equipment is.

    Peeling off the yellowed parchment from the back of my radio dial/display, I found way more glue was used than in your example. Do you have any hints for removal>? do not want to dissolve the paint or scratch it in any way. For now, I am painstakingly scraping it off little by little with my finger nail. Your guide is a huge help BTW! I never thought I could do this myself, and little by little I am getting ti!

    Great Job. My biggest fear is cutting the string with my solder iron and being up the creek without a paddle I think I could figure it out, but not without a lot of trial and error.

      I've done it and I will never forget the BING sound when the dial cord breaks.

      Always a good idea to wrap the string in aluminum foil in case of an "oopsie"!

    What is the best way to re-spread apart the split type control rods? I am referring to the split aluminum shafts which the knobs then pressure-fit onto. I have one where the two halves are pinched together, and now the knob will not stay on.

    Did I see that correctly, that one does not need to solder anything to get the signal strength lamp going again?

    I have a 2010 and plan on replacing lamps. Is the layout the same as the 2015? Especially the meter lamp?

    Was the diagram incorrect for the stringing? I ran into this with another Marantz tuner so the Service Manual is not always right. 🤣

    Hello Sir, I am paranoid that I turned my tuning wheel too far to the left when it was already all the way over. But I see you kept spinning the wheel even when it was all the way over, is it ok that I did that? Thanks. It keeps spinning to the right, but stops spinning to the left.

  • @MrElectrowhiz
    @MrElectrowhiz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Marantz products sold for a higher price in the 1970s and had a minimum retail price they were allowed to be sold for and if a dealer would sell one lower than that price, they would lose their dealership.

    With highly oxidized contacts on the selector switch, it's best to physically scrub the contacts to dislodge the oxidation. Spraying won't really remove it effectively.

      Kinda like dry cleaning clothes. Where does the funk go? Probably nowhere. Gotta wash and rinse laundry to get it clean. Similarly, one should attempt to remove the funk after deoxy if feasible.

    There’s a Marantz for sale on EBay but doesn’t have the click when powered on? Is that repairable? Thanks

    • @AHFixIt
      @AHFixIt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some models do not have a relay click. If it's a model that's supposed to click, it is very likely repairable.

    • @mph7282
      @mph7282 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed...double sided tape is a wonderful thing. And you really don't need a lot, just a few spots. Once youget the faceplate back on, pressure pretty much keeps everything in place.

    Is there a reason you used incandescents rather than LED's?

    • @AHFixIt
      @AHFixIt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was the owner's preference. I also discuss the LED vs incandescent debate here: th-cam.com/video/E5aA1gia0vo/w-d-xo.html
