So why did don vs Rick didn't happen

      I'm not sure.
Don and Rick verbally agreed to a match during the IKF Mass Destruction show, but even though the IKF ran plenty of subsequent events, the financial problems associated with the MD show may have turned the fighters off to working with the IKF in the future. At any rate, IKF Mass Destruction 2 was actually scheduled for October 1999 but was canceled.
I've also heard a rumor that Wilson's manager refused to let the match happen. Apparently Duke Roufus contacted Don's team to set up the contest but was told that Wilson would never be allowed to fight Rick.

Hi Michael ! Could you please help ? I am gathering footage for a future video, which will be called "The Best of Kickboxing", and I am looking for the best fights from the 1980s. I plan to divide the video into segments, each per decade. I am looking for the best slugfests, knockouts, and defense moments, but I am biased towards slugfests and combinations. I ask you because I think you are the perfect person to ask this. I would be very grateful for a response.

Whoa! Okay, definitely got the message.
I can help you out, sure, but is there any specific kind of 80s kickboxing you're looking for? Does it matter if it's above-the-waist rules or not? Does it matter if its North American, European or Japanese?

@@houseofmouseboxer490 Thank you for noticing me ! Sorry if I posted this too many times, I did so because I saw this comment getting deleted again and again. And it doesn't matter to me whether european or american or japanese. I am talking mostly about world championship level kickboxing. Slugfests, combinations, knockouts and defense skills. Thank you again for your time !

No problem! I'm happy to help.
I'm going to work on a list for you, but in the meantime, would you mind if I let other people in on the discussion? I'd make a community post about this with all your info and link to your channel.

@@houseofmouseboxer490 Thank you very much, the community post is a good idea, I see no problem with letting other people in. Just keep in mind that for the video to come out will take me a while, because there will be dozens of fights for me to edit. And by the way, you can make it more open, and by that I mean you can include fights from other decades also, the only difference is that about 80s kickboxing I know very little, whereas the other decades I know some good fights. Also, all reccomendations of lower weight fighters are welcome, because I'm a bit heavyweight-biased.

You're welcome. In case you haven't seen it yet, the post is up on my community page. People will either respond to it or they won't, or they'll contact you directly. Either way, I hope this helps.
As for the other stuff, here's what I have so far.
In general terms, you really can't go wrong with any fight featuring Don Wilson, Dennis Alexio, Jean-Yves Theriault or Benny Urquidez. I advise you to check out the fight records on their Wikipedia articles (they're largely complete and accurate) and search out the ones from the time period(s) you want. There's no shortage of footage available on TH-cam, and all of these guys are exemplary in the areas you're highlighting. They all competed at the world champion level for most of their careers.
I also recommend you seek out any matches featuring Steve Shepherd, Bill Wallace and Alvin Prouder. Any fights of theirs is going to feature superior defense techniques, at the very least.
As for individual matches, here's a small list to get you started. I've initialed what I think their strong points are, but all are generally bombastic encounters with standout moments. All are from the 80s and feature fighters who had at least already been world champions by this time.
