Such an inspiring woman, she truly deserves to be called the first woman filmmaker. During the last bit of the film, where she goes to America to try to find her films, I was about to cry, it was just so moving to see her not giving up after all those years. May she rest in peace.
Discovering this lady is comparable to the electicity I felt the moment I first heard Sister Rosetta Thorpe play the blues better than Bo before Mr Diddley had ever bothered. Just fabulous! Thank you. The new documentary, Be Natural, owes a great deal to this film.
Rock on, Sister Rosetta! If you don't know Memphis Minnie, check her out, too; she was a rare woman guitarist in the 1920s who helped pioneer the electric guitar.
This is such a lovely little film. I love the historians, who all seem so passionate about the subject but nervous about being filmed :D I am saddened that I did not know more about Alice when I studied film. She's remarkable!
She is the proof that if women are given the chances they deserve, they can do miracles indeed. Alice is the Mother of Cinema, the first of the Mothers of different aspects of filmmaking to come after her.
Cried hard when they talked about how she could never find or see her own films again. Then she has a stroke and forgets ever making films at all. Profoundly sad.
forget this first FEMALE filmmaker bs… this woman is the first filmmaker as we know it. the first film director. give her the due she deserves, and not just as a woman.
Many thanks and congratulations to the Canadian filmmaker MARQUISE LEPAGE who, so to speak, "resurrected" ALICE GUY, who for too long had fallen into oblivion. J P O

I cried too, that was so painful to see, I can't imagine how it was for her...
And on top of that, her work was just auctioned off for pennies
@@christianfabiangonzalezare3427 It was probably painful for her children to watch
Amazing documentary!
Thank you for posting this
Very nice! Never knew much about her life. Very informative. Thank you for posting! :-)
She lived her first childhood in Valparaíso, Chile, my hometown! Here in South America!

Such "forgetfulness" would most likely never have happened if ALICE GUY had been A MAN!
