  • In this week's session, a powerful group of Muslims comes together to discuss the challenges facing Muslim marriages.
The {VIRTUAL} Salon is a space for Muslim intellectuals, creatives and activists to come together to discuss some of the most important (and controversial!) topics affecting our communities today, amplifying the voices we seldom hear.
Each week, host and creator, Na'ima B. Robert, is joined by a rich and diverse panel to speak and be heard, to learn and explore. The online format allows audiences from around the world to participate in these nourishing conversations and be part of the change they want to see in the world.
Share this video with your circle, get together to discuss the points raised and start seeing the world with new eyes.

Abdul Haqq Baker really understands well the disconnects are for us...Alhamdulilah it was refreshing seeing a man articulate these things so well.

SubhanAllah, the vulnerability factor of a man as strength is apt as seen in Rasulillah SAW going to our mother, Khadija RA, when he received revelation and the fact that she assured him and believed him and comforted him in a time he was at his weakest. Thank you, Abdul Haqq for this example.

also environment and stress has a lot to do with affecting relationships. men throughout lifetime are known not to be good in expressive themselves but he should be able to assess his situation and also assess how his wife is feeling and bring about the right questions to see if he is able to help. i have never ever seen other muslim communities speak against romance. new to me. i have been exposed to many muslim communities in many countries and also revert salafi communities.

Asma’a MI. Enough background information about each other before marriage. Time to accumulate enough information before making a commitment.

Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullah masha allah tabarakallah I have personally enjoyed the session as I am a trained counsellor as well. I am currently based in Singapore and would like more people to have access on such discussions in the near future insha allah. Unfortunately I do not deal with online payment methods and hope to have a chance to meet up offline with any of the panelist it would be great. You may contact me directly if you are in Singapore. I am also helping to raise awareness on Islamic finance and fundraising for At Taqwa Academy www.attaqwa.org for their current location insha allah. May Allah bless all our efforts.
