A good friend of mine served in a reconnaissance role in Vietnam. He told me, "I killed most people with a radio". He would find them and the US Navy and US Air Force would finish them. He would sit in the jungle waiting for the bombings to stop. He counted bodies. He would sneak off to an extraction point.
My friend was a soldier. He paid dearly for what he did, he doesn't have a restful night's sleep.

If you look deeper into this, they didn't just randomly kill people who were drunk in the bar. They would target rich people with a nice car in the parking lot that Roy could then send to Kuwait for cash while the other guys took whatever was in their pockets. People with nice cars or flashing lots of money were targeted.

Maybe you're already aware but the movie 'The Iceman' is based on Richard Kuklinski, basically DeMao's go to hitman. Ray Liotta plays DeMeo. Not exactly a movie about DeMeo but the Gemini Lounge is part of the movie.

They need to do a real movie on DeMeo with the same kind of detail and quality that was put into Goodfellows, Casino, The Irishman, etc. Scorsese style would be great, maybe do it from Montiglio's narration ala Henry Hill. Pull out all the stops, full detail of all the hits, Gemini Lounge dismemberments, Empire Blvd car theft ring, brokering the Westies alliance, the Ragucci murder, etc. Something like that would be so epic. DeMeo's story is more than worthy of such treatment

Actually "Murder Machine" book about Roys crew suggests that Borelli did most of the shootings. Hence the nickname "Dirty Henry", homage to Dirty Harry movie due to Henrys efficiency as marksman. Still Henry sometimes felt belittled by the crew because he didnt have stomach for dismembering the bodies, he would allways threw up & trembling and the other crew members, especially Chris, whom Henry loathed btw (it was Henry who shot Chris body full of holes with machine gun, allthough he was allready dead at this point. Roy shot him in the head but he was still alive and Roy froze up, prompting Anthony to take the pistol of Roys hand and then he finished Chris). Henry was the guy who went on to fetch the infamous pizzas, calzones, hot dogs etc. while the others dismembered the victim(s) and when Henry came back the crew ate the food with bloody hands. Anthony was used many times when the victim was accompanied by a woman, he didnt mind shooting broads. But Gemini Twins were killers also, your right about that. They were all killers and at some point they switched triggermen on every murder because they all wanted to be the one who pulls the trigger. But Henry was Roys chief enforcer. After Chris died, Joey became 2nd in command, much to Henrys dismay because he had most bodies after Roy. I mean direct bodies where he himself pulled the trigger. They had like 35 single murders, 10-15 double murders, maybe 4-6 triple murders and like dozen or so murders that they (unchacteristically) delegated to other hitmen. There was like 80-125 victims named in that book, citations from police report etc. It wasnt like: "21st of may 79' Roy & his crew killed a guy named 'Twitchy' and dismembered him." No. They went to great lenghts of showing that this huge number of victims really existed, they told about their life situations, their family & jobs & how they got in that spot with Roy. They killed +100 guys easily. But not more than 135 i would say. Each of the regular crew members (leaving Guglielmo out, he wasnt really at their level, Roy carried him around) had atleast 12 or 15 bodies. Henry propably had sumthin like close to 30 and Roy propably over 50 himself. Anthony had atleast two women, the other one being 18 or 19y old girl....

He was definitely a killer, but he didn't kill 200 people or do anything like what he said he did. I mean think about it he was going to jail for 3-4 murders why not say you killed 200-300 make some money to give to your family off the book. Never provided any names but people bought in to it cause he did know Roy DeMeo through the porn racket. Probably even killed a few guys for him but he wasn't respected among actual Mafia members nor did he do hits for them. Same with the Irishman, yeah he knew Hoffa but he never killed guys for the Mafia he was dying and seen a way to make money for his family before he died.

Roy De Meo owned the The Gemini Lounge and it had a apartment above it. He used the shower in the apartment to hang and bleed the bodies the way you would hang and bleed an animal or deer. Roy apprenticed as a butcher in his younger days and these skills came in handy when he disassembled the bodies. The style of execution was dubbed the "Gemini Method" by the DeMeo crew. Roy did contract killings not only for his family but the other families as well. He would do work for just about anyone I’m told. Not many contact killers have killed more than De Meo.

DeMeo was a fascinating character, according to the info I've been given. He didn't start out as a hit man, but instead was a really good earner going back to high school, where he began loansharking. Apparently he didn't commit any murders until after age 30, when he may have been required to carry one out in order to become a made guy. After that, he seemed to have developed a real thirst for it, which Sammy made perfectly clear. I can't wait for his next podcast.
