I always found the Mega Play and Mega Tech systems incredibly interesting because of how the Mega Drive was initially heavily marketed as "bringing the arcade to your home" and now they were bringing the home console games to the arcade, great to see one in beautiful nick.
Quality work by the entire team. Special mention to Holly for resurrecting the monitors.
If I ever get to visit you and the cave, the first thing I'm going to say is "oooo! What a lovely bit of black rubber there!"
Not many people will notice the new kick plate and rubber but I bet a lot more would notice the scuffed and tired ones. Nice job all!
Well said.
Unfortunately, that's how it usually goes.
Congratulations to the entire team on this genuinely EPIC restoration. A tribute to you all.
Amen
Having done a bit of arcade restoration myself I can genuinely say that this is a superb job. Congratulations and well done to everyone involved. Fabulous!
Thank you that's really kind
Fantastic work. I'm from Montreal, except for a layover at Heathrow, I've never been to the UK. I've caught myself looking at where is Stroud on Google Maps. I might have to try to sell this trip to my wife, tell her about the beautiful castles and manors.😆
Stroud's a lovely place to visit, it's got plenty to offer
You should get a copy of the restoration on a memory stick, along with stills of the process, get the team together to sign a photo, and fix it in the back of the machine for future generations to see.
I love that idea thank you
flash memory has a pretty limited data retention, especially when never getting powered on to let it error correct flipped bits. Unlike other forms of storing data like burned rom chips or fram. It can get enough bits flipped to not read in a matter of ten years.
Optical media is the best for longevity if it's a high quality sandwiched design (foil layer encapsulated by the plastic).
VHS would probably be most helpful for anyone trying to restore this thing a second time. ;)
@@RMCRetro I vote for DVD-ROM
They still use VHS in mass storage
Many thanks for the detail you and your friends/team puts into these videos, especially for us here in the states. Wish I could visit the cave, but these are the next best thing.
This is a great preservation video! You really care about these classic arcades and computers and it makes me happy :)
Amazing ...really liked the system and how it was handled...congratulations !
I cannot believe it looks so beautiful.. really excellent job on everyone involved in this project.
When the world gets me down it's nice to think of people like Neil and his team following their passions and spreading happiness.
Great Work Team. Thanks for the video Neil! Really love the channel, so happy I found you! :)
I followed this, and I am truly stunned and proud of ALL of you. This is a wonderful addition to the museum.
Now, to my other point. You guys need a museum cat. Imagine a cat walking across your Gauntlet cabinet. 🐈
Thanks! My old cat Gizmo did come the to museum a couple of times, sadly no longer with us. Maybe one day we’ll get another!
Awwww! Little Gizmo must have been a sweetheart. Well, you can come take my Puddin, he's a pain in the as, I'Im fed up with him 😂@@RMCRetro
Absolutely fantastic. Your combined skills are brilliant. Love your videos...
What an incredible achievement! Considering where it came from, this is truly amazing. Well done team!
If i ever make holiday in england, i think my first visit would be your site. Nice video!
Thank you so much for giving this arcade a second life!
You’re welcome and thank you for taking the time to watch
I think anyone who comes out should make a point to comment on the kickplate and rubber lol. Those vents are great for sure. A nice job all around.
Neil, please use a respirator mask next time you cut MDF! The dust is pretty toxic.
Thank you! I absolutely will
An absolutely amazing refurbishment of a piece of history maybe a lot of people didn't even knew existed before seeing your videos (One of them people being me!). Well done to all involved.
In 1000 years when historians are trying to pinpoint exactly when peak TH-cam was, I think this video could be a contender
Congratulations to the entire team
Absolutely stunning, great job guys!
Put a pic or small collage framed on the wall next to the arcade as it arrived, to show it's previous life. Well done to all, what an amazing transformation!
Beautiful! And highly rewarding to follow you on this journey.
fantastic work team, love the finished cabinet. You can tell how much passion for everything you do at the cave.
Great job all!! The vinyl looked great in person, shame it came away at the edges.
You guys really brought this back from the dead, nicely done.
Great teamwork! You're champions of conservation.
Wonderful job and attention for details, great team work. 🎉🎉🎉
This has been a great video series, I've really enjoyed seeing all of the skills and hard work that have gone into the restoration.

@9:30 congrats on not also cutting a cave table in half making doors, I would've totally done that
You all did a wonderful job ! Nice group effort! Another piece of history saved 😊
Amazing

Great restoration, guys! So much fun to see this cab come back to its former glory!
truly a thing of beauty : )
That cabinet looks immaculate. Great job!
Loved to play on this arcade cab back in the day at my swimming baths, you have done a super amazing job on this, looks fresh from the factory 👍👍
Amazing work everyone! It looks fantastic!
Great work from all the team. Cheers.
Finally got around to watching this! Excellent stuff. Looking forward to visiting the cave again so I can have a go!
Fantastic work. Would love to jump over the pond and pay a visit.
Great work, the whole team has done a marvellous job on restoration, long may it be enjoyed.
Very good all involved, yes vinyls can be temperamental with weather and type of it. MD5 is very good quality vinyl. Good to see it finished
Beautiful work team! amazing job
Fantastic restoration!
Looks amazing
That looks magnificent, congrats!!
Fantastic video! thanks for that!
Fantastic restoration job on this system! Amazing! Keep it up!❤
Amazing job! That machine is awesome
Everyone's done a great job at getting this cab look immaculate, especially considering how it originally looked. I'm particularly impressed at how Holly repaired that driver board for the CRT in last episode. Repairing those traces and she made it look perfect. Small thing I know, but I'm easily pleased.
Congrats to your and your team on a fantastic restoration, Neil! Another Mega-Tech lives on!
To a Mega Drive kid like myself growing up, owning one of these (or one of the rare Mega Drive PC', either one) would have been like the holy grail to me in the 90's!
Beautiful work.
Fantastic restoration. Also great to be amongst the first to try it. If anyone is on the fence about visiting the cave. I'd highly recommend it. We all had a fantastic day.
Great video again :)
Thanks for taking the time to make it and share the adventure
great restoration! loved watching the progress!
Cool! Ultimate Restoration!
That vinyl application really brought back some memories for me. I'd love for you to hunt down and do a restoration of a Sega Traveller. It's in no way a good game but I promise you will have never played a game quite like it.
incredible work!
A great restoration. You clearly enjoy the process and it was great to watch
Great Restoration, enjoyed all the episodes.
The amount of work went into this is crazy. I just stay with my retropi with half million games 13 different consoles
Cool story bro, your pi will never be this cool.
Amazing work!
This was a great series to follow, keep up the great work!
Absolutely a thing of beauty! Well done!!
Amazing work has been done. :)
Wonderful work everyone! I wish I could visit The Cave and have some time playing it and the other games that are available!
So much love fot this system, great work!
So good!
well done to everyone involved in the restoration, this was a great watch.
Beautifully done. Truly something to be proud of.
Looks amazing and well done to the team! I remember playing on one of these back in the day, along with the Nintendo variant.
Could watch these trash to treasures all day..looking forward to the next project, mega tech looks great.
what a sight to behold... one of the most goreous cabinettes i,ve seen... looks so cool with those dual screens
Truly a well love machine now, great work everyone!
Great restoration, amazing!
Awesome!
Amazing result
Great work! 👍
The lack of *Genuine Sanwa Arcade Parts* disturbs me greatly
Great restoration journey this incredible machine has had - I remember getting my own Sega Mega Tech cabinet from a charity shop about 20 years ago for £100 in all working and it very good condition plus all with a full board of games. Sadly the top screen stopped working and couldn't source anyone to repair it at the time so had to sell it along with a Nokia N-Gage Kiosk for £110 for the pair (and all games on the board) Would love to get one of this back again. The things you find in charity shops :)
This was a really fun project to follow, I hope to see more content like this! :)
Such a fantastic restoration and a great series of videos. I agree with keeping some of the patina, its like the Japanese style Wabi-sabi, perfect in its imperfection. The whole team provided great work on this one.
