My 2005 E46 M3 is a daily driver. I get 11to 15MPG in mixed highway and urban driving. I HAVE to run 93 octane in South Florida's scorching hot months. We have nine of those months. Mid April to November 1...approximately. Starting in November, I can safely run mid grade without any detonation. So, I can run Mid grade when I am feelig POOR and 93 when I am able. In April It gets hot again and its 93 all the time. They JACK up the price for 93. It can be crippling to fill up.
About "worst": What a load of nonsense! I am a proud owner of e46 m3 for last 5 years. 1) i get 18 mpg in the city while driving it quit aggressively. On the highway you can easily milk it into high 20s. That's not that thirsty for such a car 2) rod bearings: yes, it was an issue on limited run 3) vanos etc - minor issues How is that a "worst" engine???
We agree that the s54 is a great engine for its time. We have owned 4 s54 cars. By far the least reliable was in the z3m. By the time bmw got to the z4m the engine was way more reliable. However perception of the rod bearing and vanos issues really haunt the engine reputation
I hope you know that’s an S65 the first minute of the video….
Yes we did notice lol we were wondering how long it would be before anyone noticed 😂
@@StanceBros_ that's like the teacher that tells you "haha i was making sure you guys were paying attention" when you point out an error on the board
As a Z4 M owner.... I felt this 😂
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for the support
I would love to do a s54 rebuild and swap someday…
Someday😂
Thanks for watching!

I hear you! But thats the price you pay for getting that grin when you get inside a bmw legend
Wrong for the Z3M, it was equipped with the S50B32.
2001 onwards z3m was equipped with the s54
@@StanceBros_ you are right and I was wrong. Sorry for that bro!
I suspect the N54 is now BMWs best worst engine.
N54 is a great engine for tunners , but those turbos 😬
Why half the images in the video show a V8 engine???
Come on , there are only a couple clips. Our editor at the time was obviously not a car guy 😂

just the best
We agree 😁
Wouldn't a new fuel pump fix that drinking issue?
Not sure but a new liver would 😂
