ASUS has just dropped an updated ROG Ally, the Ally X, so I’m here to share a few thoughts with you after using it for 2 weeks! ◡̈ my original Ally has held up well, but tbh the X is probably the top pick now for a windows-based handheld imo (well, as long as the price doesn’t put you off)
I don’t know how to express my love for your channel… I’ve watched almost every video even your long LONG nighttime gameplays and it makes me feel more comfortable and at peace, I don’t play genshin but watching you play and feeling your peace through the screen I will definitely start playing if/when my parents let me have a good day/night 🩷🩵

I do love that they've fixed some of the blaring issues, but I hate that they got rid of the white colour way - that was one of my biggest attractions to my ally for now I think I'll stick to the old one lol
1hr of gaming and it uses up only 36% at 25W turbo mode is so good to see while the current Ally goes down the same percentage but only 15mins of gameplay. Those who are planning to get one, Ally X is the best choice. Felt so betrayed because I bought my Ally 2 months at local store before the Ally X was announced and the retail price difference when I bought it was about $190. When you think about the upgrade that Ally X have, its quite worth it. Extra storage, extra battery life, extra RAM, extra USB C port and adjusment design for just $190 difference? Man... its so upsetting when I think about it. For most current Ally users, especially myself, its gonna be so hard to let go especially after having so much customization done on it. Its sad that the current Ally's 2230 SSD will not work on Ally X as they use 2280 which are cheaper in the market. Asus seems to listen to the Ally user's problems but they didn't solve it for them, rather telling them to buy their new version with a higher price is so shitty ngl.

I’ve been debating between ROG and the Steamdeck for what feels like forever. I wanted something that would play my Steam games but the ROG would also play my Gamepass games without additional steps.
Keep in mind steamdeck may have a better battery and lower tdp, but rog ally is more future proof. You can always hook your rog ally to a portable battery, but you will never make your steamdeck have more power. This is already noticeable with newer releases, like Black Myth Wukong. The steamdeck barely struggles with around 25fps in that game (which I'd say its unplayable), and rog ally has around 40-45fps.
Been following the Ally X since they annouced it. I had a Legion Go, but sold it because, despite liking the hardware (God that screen is still amazing, even though its not an OLED panel) the software was really lacking and there were a few other things i didn't like about it. I ended up playing my Steam Deck OLED more. The Ally X seems like its set up to be a better device, especially with having more ram and a bigger battery. I'm probably going to wait until November or December though. Because its not that far away, and no doubt we'll see this thing go on sale for the holiday season. Until then I'm satisfied with playing on my Steam Deck OLED.
I'm honestly so disappointed in my Rog Ally. The battery life is horrible, it overheats constantly and it's glitchy, and I don't game often or for long hours. I hope this one is an improvement for those that want it but I've definitely moved onto the Steam Deck.
I have the rog ally. Battery life is indeed horrible! The latest Bios "fixes" the overheat issue with increase fan speed... this can be manually adjusted too. Glitchy... you can blame Windows 11 for that. Steam deck does have stability though.
My ally never overheat at all but you have to manually adjust fan curve. Windows handheld do need some effort to tinker but its more flexible and you can use it for work too

What would you say is your favourite portable console that you use the most? I currently have the Switch OLED but seeing how good these games run on the Ally that are nonexistent on the Switch makes me feel regret
i like handheld consoles since my childhood with nintendo now being a adult i got a gaming pc that i use the most when i saw those pc handhelds i was in love with it i wanted one too maybe i'm gonna ask my parents to buy me a msi claw i don't care about less performance than a rog ally i just want to play casual cozy and retro games on it

hsr should perform pretty similarly to genshin impact and zzz so long as you're on med settings at 17W. battery life will be closer to 2+ hours on the Ally X with those settings

Damn, I'm so jealous of what you were able to buy, and this. I just live in Russia. and 120 thousand rubles is expensive for me for such a console. There are far from poor people living in Russia. which has under 2 Lamborghini under 2 Ferraris. just because I'm a schoolboy and I'll have to work for 4 or 6 months to buy, I'd rather wait until it gets a little cheaper.

I'm curious what quality you're talking about. From everything I've read and watched, the Ally X is much more powerful and many more things than the SD. The only things the SD does better is the OLED screen, customer support and the touch pads that the Ally X doesn't have. But.... the SD uses Linux 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
@@bwowzah Linux is the biggest advantage in the Steam Deck for me. If I would be getting a ROG Ally X I'd be putting Bazzite on it (a SteamOS-like distro). I don't really play any games that don't work on Linux (or I know some ways around their AntiCheats to get them running 😉). It depends what the user needs when it comes to the OS, and I guess Windows is the best one for you if you don't like SteamOS.

I often watch the video well. I'm worried about my nails from which video. Fake nails are so obvious that whenever there's a scene like that, my eyes are on them.. The video will last forever. I think the basic hands are pretty too..
the Ally X runs windows, so you can run Steam games normally! a Steam Deck might be a better fit though, because it's meant for Steam games and honestly a lot more affordable

You could get a rog ally z1 extreme for way cheaper. And it’ll give you way more performance. If you get the msi claw you’re paying more for less.

Ally x provides far more power for a longer time than the steam deck. You can play alot more games too.

Most of the new multiplayer games are trash imo. There are definetly some multiplayer shooters that I like though.
