more people need to know about Gundam markers and panel liners. such useful tools for miniature painting that a surprising amount of people don't know about.
Lovely to see a bit more Protocol Painting. As for fun ones to paint, Mr Sinister was good with lots of room for effects and jazzy colours. Great video.
OY! don't scare me like that! I come here for a nice relaxing video about spidermans and you call me out on stuff 🙂 I like them spidermans tho, I gotta try a gunpla pen one of these days
Hahahaha sorry for scarin ya like that!!! But honestly your video on priming is so comprehensive I find it way easier to recommend people just go an watch that rather than try and explain it myself ;)
if you were able to perceive that image im gonna ask you to make a DC15 wisdom saving throw...if you succeed you can add an item called "perception of the lost limbic" to your character sheet
Fun fact: I painted this mini a few days ago, and I achieved the 20 mins look in just three hours. I'm really happy to see you painting Marvel Crisis Protocol, can't wait to see more minis!!
I love that you show your mistakes and how to fix them. You tried something with that yellow and taught us not to deal out and mistakes can be fixed. Models can be salvaged. Thank you for your content!
More Marvel Crisis Protocol videos please. Also, I'd love to see more videos from you on traditional acrylic layering. Most of your videos focus on a blending technique but your layering is on point and I'd love to get more insights from you on that. I'm thinking of doing a cel shaded style for my minis and layering seems to be the technique for that.
You probably get a lot of these requests, but an updated paint reference including Speed Paints 2.0 and Vallejo would be amazing. I literally visit your page weekly to just check your reference list.
The Crisis Protocol models have gotten much better over time in terms of the molds, assembly, and detail. The best sculpts are the Spider-Foes. Rhino was a great one for using oil washes.
Thank you for painting the spider on his back red. There have been several videos that I've seen where they paint it black or a different color and it just gets my goat. I'm not a big fan of "random" OSL. This is seen a lot in the artwork for the chibi Marvel United games and it just feels off and out of place. I love your paint job at stage 3. I think it looks great there. Also, Warm White or Pale Sand?! This can't be true!
Great Job on Spiderman! I solved my problem with clogged dropper bottle tips by turning the bottle upright after you get the paint you need and tap it on the table a few times with the lid off. I then put a paper towel on the tip and lightly squeeze the bottle a few times to clear any extra paint trapped in the tip. Then replace the lid. No clogged tips since.
i just started painting some Knight Model Batman minis (even though i learned aftewards about the shitty things knight models does) - this was helpful and fun
From the core box I would like to see Captain Marvel and Black Widow. Otherwise I want to see how you tie one of the transforming models ( Ms marvel, Ant-Man, hood, etc) together between the 2 models.
i believe the extra fine point ones like that (they're all blue handled i think) are essentially the same as Micron markers which are probably easier for most people to find. there's also "pour type" ones that behave like a wash would but have a pen style tip which might also be useful for people trying to do basic techniques to improve tabletop stuff (and they come in more colors than black/grey/brown like the fine point ones). not sure what the chemical makeup is tho so ppl might want to varnish if using the pour bois!
I think doing proxies for models sourced from different Patreon creators could be really cool if you're going down the Marvel Crisis Protocol route. I haven't seen any other youtubers do that.
Thanks for the video. I think Spider-Man is a good choice for a starting painter, the web lines break up the red field enough. I think Venom would be a good addition to this series as Venom could easily hust become an undefined black mass in the hands of a novice. I remember being younger and not knowing what to do with large areas of unbroken color, especially black or white.
Yet another great video Dana! Thanks for helping newbies with entry level techniques- and guiding ways to start improving techniques. You are a great instructor! Here’s hoping you can work with AMG to do some Shatterpoint models!!!!!
I enjoy the MCP models, even though the early ones can be a real PITA to assemble. So far, my favorite to paint has been Deadpool, but I'm really looking forward to Gwenpool and Jeff.
MCP is by far and large the best minis game I've ever played. it quickly turned from something different we can try to owning most of the available models and playing weekly and me even in TTS leagues. If you are planning to go beyond the core set I cannot recommend Lizard enough. Easily the coolest model in the range and helpfully really good on the table too. Also regarding building: AMG has constantly upped their game in that regard. So newer kits tend to be much easier to build.
Great series, love Crisis Protocol! Would love to see Iron Man next... there are some interesting choices how to achieve the metallic armor effect. Using and undercoat of gold/silver and paint over it or using metallic colors like AP gemstone or new speedpaint gold? A comparison might be something to try...
I am trying to get better about just getting base colors down with translucent paints and building from there. I haven't had much luck with it, but I am going to try using a lighter primer and see if that works better. I would love to see you paint a character like venom, who at first glance is boring but can have a lot of artistic license taken do to the alin nature of the character.
Nice! Experimenting with Cel-Shading is a big part of what I'm trying with my MCP pieces. I've been using a fine liner pen in places, but I should give a panel-liner pen I look! In terms of other minis, I'd love to see how you'd do Gambit with his big glowy energy swipe, or how you'd make the two forms of Emma Frost's mini feel tonally distinct but still ultimately the same person.
I admit I’m typically not a huge fan of your edge highlights with Pale White, I mean Warm Sand, I mean! But once you added the yellow source lighting it came out beautifully! Now I’m wondering what the best way to paint a Miles Morales spider-suit would be, since one can’t exactly line the webs in red over a black suit
That hack with colored taps is awesome!!! Any Marvel character would be good but villain would be better! Do you think that Spiderman could put some web over his enemy?
Any chance you could do a video on avoiding splotchiness with Speed/Contrast paints? No matter how much medium I use or how try an move the darker parts around it almost always comes out splotchy
I don't know what characters are in the Core Set but I do love an X-men character. As for the new Warm White... could it be called Broken Sand? Pale Sand-vil?
Why use a contrast/speed paint for the black in the beginning? Seems like you could avoid cleanup by just using an off-black normal acrylic. The panel liner is something I'm going to need to pick up, though.
I'm not a fan of the Gundam markers. Every time I've tried to use them, they bleed too much. They also seem to not have a long shelf life. I'll buy one, use it once, then next time I try to use it it's all dried up.
more people need to know about Gundam markers and panel liners. such useful tools for miniature painting that a surprising amount of people don't know about.
The Sumi-Ire type ones are good too; they are the ones that you apply at a point in the 'groove' and they flow along it by capillary action.
I've used Tamiya panel liner on that very same Spider-Man model, and it works great, especially on the web pattern
Lovely to see a bit more Protocol Painting. As for fun ones to paint, Mr Sinister was good with lots of room for effects and jazzy colours. Great video.
I’ve been getting back into X-men comics lately and Sinister is definitely on my “to-paint” list!!!

The painted caps are genius!
Thanks!!! It seems so obvious in retrospect I wish I’d thought of it earlier!!!
I'm all about new pack with Squirrel Girl and Gwenpool. If you have those - I'd love to see you paint them!
Im definitely gettin those!!!
The cube/ladder/unicorn/thunderstorm image brings back memories

Genius to prime and paint the cap! Why did I never think of this!
4:06 oh my god. So simple, but ingenious. Thank you for this tip!!!!
the marker is a great idea!
I really appreciate your tiered system and how each tier is clearly building off of the previous one(s), so thank you!
I like these videos, I feel like they apply to a wide range of audiences from beginner to the more skilled hobbyist.
Great idea on colored caps!
Thanks!!!!
Exceedingly happy to see more MCP content -- Thank you!!

Inspiring to see other kinds of minis getting painted, especially one of my favorite characters Spiderman. More Crisis Protocol please

When I was in Japan I almost picked up some Gundam pens but wasn't sure how they worked. Turns out I should have bought them!
Best Spiderman content of the week.
Excited to see more about the BAM paints!
well this aged poorly
i just started painting some Knight Model Batman minis

Coloured caps are a great idea! Consider it stolen! Thank you for sharing 😊
I love how you committed to the VHS aspect ratio for this video.
Also, I'd love to see more Marvel Crisis Protocol videos in the future.
love to see you getting into this one! excited to see the rest of the series!
From the core box I would like to see Captain Marvel and Black Widow. Otherwise I want to see how you tie one of the transforming models ( Ms marvel, Ant-Man, hood, etc) together between the 2 models.
Video was completely unrelated to my OG search but i like your videos so much here we are 😂

it's that menace, spiderman!!
Thank you Dana. What size Gundam Marker was used? I think a thinner nib may tone down the look...
Thanks for the video.

Dana Howl replacing Pale Sand?! That's the first sign of the Apocolypse!
Hulk please Dana. I love your points about getting models done to play and being able to do more to spruce up later if you want or not.
My favorite game for every Dana Howl video is to try to guess at what angle her septum piercing will be.
Lmao I literally forget it’s even there
@@DanaHowl That makes it even better!
@@DanaHowl the piercing makes her even more sexy...i dont even paint but like the channel 😆😅

MCP is a fantastic game - get on that X-Men train next, I wanna see that dana howl goodness brought to Rogue
Awesome work!

Wait…hold on…you primed and painted the lids…that seems so obvious but brilliant
this is perfect for me. thanks!

Mike Mignola is the goat, great artist to pull from

Laughed at the horse cube desert and ladder "psychology" test
When you can't say their name (Pale Sand), you know you are crossing a line. 🤣
awesome! I’d love to see more of the marvel minis
13:14 back to the drawing board, Army Painter 😅

I don't think I got this notification in my subscriptions? Why have I only seen this video 5 days after?!
That hack with colored taps is awesome!!!
Any Marvel character would be good but villain would be better!

I thought you would have done more underpainting, you do that so well
Colossus!

Iron Man I’d like to see. My second favourite marvel hero after spidey
Am I mistaking or is the body of the spider missing some black paint at the chest?
Ooooops you are right!!! I’ll fix it!!!
