Sending heartfelt condolences. You have been a shining light to youtube and to us tinkerers with your amazing content, ideas and insight. Wishing you the best to find your spark and stride in life again
That’s really nice of you to donate such a sum. Should be able to buy Rob a few beers and nice steaks on his trip! I wish I had the means to do likewise but unfortunately I’m penniless.
Dear Robert I missed you, your videos were always a great inspiration for me. I hope you will be able to continue and maybe heal doing it. Thank you Robert
He is not only a national treasure! I believe he is a international treasure, or at least a European treasure. I live in Sweden and have followed Robert for many years now.
It is fantastic to see you on here again Rob. Your channel was the first and only channel that I joined as a member on. Your enthusiasm for your work and the sheer joy we see in your inventiveness is so contagious. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you share with us in life and science.
So glad to see you have such a good support system. You a brilliant individual and team. Despite the tragedy the world still needs you and your team. GOD bless you.
@ThinkingandTinkering thank you and I pray GOD will still allow us time to collaborate in the next year. We are still trying to wrap up funding so we can get that project off the ground but all in his time.
She gave you the confidence to change the world. Future generations will surely benefit from that spark the two of you had, in which we have been lucky enough to receive through your enthusiastic demonstrations and teachings. She will be greatly missed. The world still needs you though, to inspire minds, on our path to evolve the way we power it. Both of you have been gifts to our existance, through the seeds planted in the imaginations and ideas that will one day energize a cleaner planet. Thank you for all you have shared.
Brilliant challenge and sorry for your loss. I lost mum 4 years ago and I still think of her every day. Thank YOU for everything you have done for this community and I am delighted to hear of the support, it is well deserved.
Robert I'm delighted that you've identified a target to work towards and especially lands end to John O'Groats. I did it several years ago and truly believe there is no better way of seeing this fine country. I hope you enjoy the process of building towards it and can't wait for your video of the trip when you're back!
It is uplifting to see you once again sir, thanks for all you have done for the science curious, looking forward to more, as we shall all of us press onward. Thanks again.
Thank you for being there, not giving up and finding strength to go on. These are true words that touched me - people we're close to never really leave us. Grief is the way to accept the new way this relationship works. But it never goes away, as you said.
Robert. You are a great man with a great spirit. We are a community that will support you. Watching your video is like talking to a part of our own family.
Much love to you Robert. I have enjoyed you lessons, explorations, and laugher since I discovered your videos about 2 years ago. You have retained a good portion of your childlike character through the years and it shines through in your laughter. Keep laughing my friend. Each time you do I laugh with you. Life isn’t so much a journey as it is a song. Verses of the song of our lives have beginning, middles, and end….but then comes the next verse. What will the next verse of your song sing about? I’m listening and waiting…. Hugs
So many people get stuck with drastic life changes, like disability, retirement or loss, and without something else in your life, like a hobby, hopefully in which other people are involved in some ways that you can react with helps. Good to know you have found something. Keep doing what makes you happy.
It is SO good to see you again. Very emotional but also uplifting to hear what you're going through. Great to hear about the bike plan.. that saddle looks like mine and has me wincing on your behalf. Good luck with it, Patti will be proud of how you are coping. We're all proud of you in fact.
Thank you for all you have done for the community Robert, you're a unique and wonderful positive light in the maker community and you're very appreciated. Our thoughts are with you.
Rob, there's only one thing that you should be doing... And that's whatever it is, that you want to do! It's good to see you back though, and hopefully we'll be seeing more of you.
Yes, we have missed you. The enthusiasm and positive vibes. Very sorry to hear about this. Coping with the loss of people you care about is one of the hardest things of all. Life must go on. You have inspired so many people, all across the world.. Best wishes to you for the future.
I wish you strength to recover from this terrible loss. You were clearly blessed to have a good and strong relationship. That makes it hurt all the more now but hopefully it will support you going forward.
Missed you Robert. Fully understand the need to heal as went through basically the same thing over 30 years ago. Good to see you back on your channel and looking forward to your new videos.
You’re so right, the folks who are loved, when they pass they are still with us, sometimes you can feel them, really feel their presence, the journey continues differently, but you’re never alone
That was heartbreaking. I hope that the fact that she is still with you in the sense that your time together with her has molded you and has actually made real physical changes to your brain. So people whom we have traveled with will be with us, even after our paths take us to different directions. All the best to you! And I hope you get support and love from people close to you!
If you are on the A83 above Arrochar, give me a shout. Happy to meet up and buy you and your brothers a meal and perhaps an overlooked part of the country which is ripe for renewables. As you say, those that have passed before us will always be with us, having helped shape who we are. ❤ from North of the border.

Robert, given your contributions to the world and the knowledge you've imparted, she must have been an equally impressive person. I commend you for finding the strength to get back in the driver's seat (or bicycle seat) and it's really good to have you back.
So great to see you Rob. Will pop down sometime with cakes & a shepherd’s pie if you’re back in the lab. So many people are rooting for you Rob - keep pedalling 💜

So sorry for your loss Rob. I lost my soul mate in 2013 and we used to visit the Orkneys almost every year. can't bring myself to go on my own now but you will absolutely love it on a bike. It's where NCN route 1 starts! If you are not happy with the weather just wait ten minutes, literally (ha ha). Life, albeit changed, goes on so grab it by the gonads! All the best mate.
Bless your heart! I've learned a lot from you... I won't give advice about loses.... I did lost my father recently and I wasn't the same after that weirdly enough.... Do whatever you feel like doing for your own sanity. Time will cure things, they say so it will be a journey.

❤ So wonderful to see you and hear your words Robert. You are taking the path of Truth and following your heart. You have been the most inspirational person I know. You have shared and thought me so much over the years with Graphene and other projects. You have inspired so many others to look at the world in a different and fun way. Your a man of Strength, Enlightenment and giving service for others. Blessing. Enjoy your bike trip and looking forward to seeing the video. Waiting also for the next Graphene video. Just last week I made some with the whey and sharing method. Then made about 20 different samples to test the strength of the different formulas I created. I left Panama, and now back in NL, Canada. Had to leave all the 3D project behind I printed off about 50lbs of parts and components lol. None I need a new printer and start over again. Yes, it's Great to see you again And best going forward. ❤🙏
Its a great challenge Rob. We will set off from Land's End on the 31st August, my 54th birthday. I'm over-weight and under fit, keep us updated on your progress.
So sorry to hear this news Robert. I have been following you and your projects for years. TH-cam has a funny way of hiding people. I wish you all the BESTEST, and hope you continue to teach us folks, all around the world. From, FIVE ISLANDS NOVA SCOTIA CANADA.
Hi Robert, I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share some thoughts with you. The chemistry you teach, with copper nanoparticles and all, has always fascinated me. It reminds me that we, in essence, are also like those atoms, creating meaningful bonds and connections. As Saint Exupéry said, these bonds transform us and help us grow. When we lose one of those connections, the sadness can be overwhelming. But it also opens the door to new adventures and possibilities of connecting in new ways. The heart's memory holds all those beautiful experiences we've lived through, and those memories become part of us, ready to share with the new bonds we form. I see you're making changes in your life. I'd like to suggest something: baking homemade bread. In one of my videos, I explain how to do it, and although it's not complex and is based on the work of others, it’s my version. Baking sourdough bread can be a very rewarding experience and, in a way, it’s connected to your love of science. I know you'll do it perfectly and creatively. Plus, you can't eat it all by yourself, so you'll have to share it, and that's the key. Robert, besides being an excellent chemist, you are a very noble person. I'm sure everything will go very well for you. Greetings from Spain, Dennis @ SOULROBOTICS
We understand Robert. I've been subscribed from the early days, even proudly getting a mention some many years back. If you need us (subscribers) just say, I am sure there will be plenty of us that would rock up with any support you need.
Out of all the DIY'rs and explorers and don't think I have ever heard you use the term "Hack." ...and that, to me, is what puts you above most. I get it. Having your commentator/s (on each shoulder?) in your head never shutting up and reminding you...suggesting that you...begging you...telling you...and irritating you when you want solace and peace. It does "slowly" get better...helps if you keep busy...🚴♀🚴♂🚴 Think about a more comfortable riding bike...Heck make it an e-bike...or...a swytchbike. But really, those 10 speeds design are not the most comfortable design for leisure riding/touring/exploring. Look at some other designs...FATTER seat (Your butt will thank you.)...maybe suspension but not a mono-shock...they tend to drain your peddling force. A comfortable ride makes the trip more therapeutic and enjoyable. Unless it's a race. Then a motor for those uphill assists are nice if needed. An adventure is awaiting you in your next chapter... ...but really...if you were that big of a smoker then get a bike with a motor. You don't want your brothers having to...
Thinking of you, mate. Sending loads of love and wishing you luck with your new adventures. As always, you are an inspiration, sir. She'll always be with you, mate. xxx
Very Glad to hear from You Rob 😁 Always enjoyed your Enthusiasm and Delight in helping us do get Great Tips, Tutoring, and Techniques of Practical Projects and Experiments !! -Z-
sweet bicycle! keep using it often...for ALL our good!! :-))) having YOU on that 200-yr old get-around will likely mean some interesting Improvements are sure to appear, as only YOU can devise them. what a wonderful way to spend part of your day, Maestro! buona fortuna~
Thank you so much for returning, dear Robert. Your videos are such a solace. Separation is so painful; having lost my mother in 2020 and the separation with my girlfriend, I can imagine what you are going through. Really looking forward to your videos. Thank you.
(Some important advice at the bottom of this btw) Glad to see you back ole pops. You really make a huge difference in the world with your videos. I hope you perceive that fact with full spectrum. Anyhow i wanted to let you know that while biking, it is MUCH SAFER AND HEALTHIER for men specifically, to stand while biking. Consistent bicycling has been "linked" to potentially serious problems with certain lower region organs of the male body. And as an avid bike rider, i can certainly attest to the difference i feel personally, after biking while standing, as opposed to biking while sitting, which noticeably pains the grain area. God Bless You Sir ⛈❤️🔥☀️
Glad to see you back. You are right about grief... It is similar to enlightenment. "Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. AFTER enlightenment... chop wood, carry water. Make space for your grief, sit with it when you need to, because it's part of you, now. But it does not DEFINE you. Thank you for everything you share with us.
Sorry for your loss, Rob. I wasn't aware, as I've been cycling rather ferociously myself. I'm in the US near Chicago and I hope to work up to the Lake Michigan Circle Tour, which is 1,100 miles. I look forward to more videos from you. Perhaps you'll attempt to build the world's fastest bicycle?!
G’day Rob. The last thing you need to do is to thank US, your online family. We all care for you mate, even big tough blokes from Australia. 😢 You and I have spent a lot of time together here in my lounge-room and workshop. Consider this a firm handshake, a warm pat on the back, a cup of Joe and a few hours of stories. AND, consider yourself a MATE of mine. (I’m glad you’re getting back on your bike, even if it is a pain in the arse 😉) Michael 57 🇦🇺
Thank you for sharing this Robert. Sitting here in my house watching your videos, I was pondering the shock, suddenness, and sheer devastation that you must be feeling. My heart definitely goes out to you and I am so glad to see you again. I hope that you will continue to make videos at whatever speed and of whatever topic you choose because they are always interesting.
So sorry for your loss, couldn't imagine losing my better half. This idea might help get you back on the saddle and continue your engineering journey, it's a potential build idea I've been considering for a long bike journey for us out of shapers. A dual changeover/combination battery ebike, charge one set while using the other and switch over once full or for off-road use and steep hills combine for extra boost. 2 x 36v battery packs should be enough I reckon, Four position switch, eventually autochanger with boost combo button, Coils down all forks with magnetic reflectors on the spokes and maybe a small wind turbine mounted under the seat at the back to charge.. The journey I have in mind is from Wye valley (Buckinghamshire) to Wye valley (South Wales), it's about 100 miles following either the Thames and then the Kennett and Avon canal or pick up King Alfred's Way at Reading and then the Ridgeway which passes loads of ancient sites. Either route is about 100 miles and was hoping to cover 30-40 miles per day and take in all the sights. Do you know of a UK battery company that might already have such a system to save me reinventing the wheel? Any help with this endeavour would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
Robert. From America I thank you for giving purpose to my tinkering. I understand loss. But we always remember what they gave us it's always gain. Thank you.
Lovely to see you back and to hear about the great support and your challenge - look forward to hearing more. If you ever feel up to cycling over to Latvia you’d be most welcome here :)

Bless you, sending you supportive thoughts. Cycling is wonderful. Nature is healing.
Out of all the DIY'rs and explorers and don't think I have ever heard you use the term "Hack."
...and that, to me, is what puts you above most.
I get it. Having your commentator/s (on each shoulder?) in your head never shutting up and reminding you...suggesting that you...begging you...telling you...and irritating you when you want solace and peace.
It does "slowly" get better...helps if you keep busy...🚴♀🚴♂🚴
Think about a more comfortable riding bike...Heck make it an e-bike...or...a swytchbike.
You and I have spent a lot of time together here in my lounge-room and workshop. Consider this a firm handshake, a warm pat on the back, a cup of Joe and a few hours of stories. AND, consider yourself a MATE of mine. (I’m glad you’re getting back on your bike, even if it is a pain in the arse 😉)

2 x 36v battery packs should be enough I reckon,
Four position switch, eventually autochanger with boost combo button,
Coils down all forks with magnetic reflectors on the spokes and maybe a small wind turbine mounted under the seat at the back to charge..
Robert can ride up to visit you on his way back from hanging out here with me in Australia 🇦🇺 for a while.
