For me I never grew up watching GIJoe cartoon on tv here in Australia however I did rent the vhs tapes from my local video store. So my joe stories came from the comics.
Destro version 2 is my favourite version of him and I absolutely love the Iron Grenadiers and I loved the Despoiler. Thanks for sharing your childhood memories as I enjoy video like this keep up the great work thanks for sharing

I think going from silver head to golden really told you that something changed, just looking at the toy lets you know, and the golden color almost gives a premium feeling to the kids buying it

The best version of Destro, if we can call it that, is in the early animated commercials for the Marvel Comics GI Joe. His nasally voice is hilarious 😂

I was born in late 81 so I am more of an 82 kid. And as a little kid I was into larger af like MOTU and Thundercats. One day in 86 I was supposed to get a vaccine and I hated needles. And so my mom bribed me with a toy afterwards if I would take it. There was this specialty shop in the UWS of NYC which is where I'm from that have walls full of action figures of all kinds. And I loved going there. Anyway when we get there they had no MOTU or Thundercats but they had an army of Joes. As a little kid I loved bright colors so I got lifeline and scifi. Little did I know I was about to fall into a rabbits hole. In 86 and 87 I got a few more joes here and there but I still wasn't totally into it. But one day in the summer of 88 I moved back to NY to live with my mom and I when I got there I had an army of Joes waiting for me and my favorite right off the bat was Destro and his Despoiler. I remember getting the Mobile Command Center for my birthday later that year and the D.E.M.O.N. too along with most of the 88s. And then I kept collecting until 1994. When they came back when I was an adult I got a few more here and there. But I didn't touch an AF for 20 years after that and now am fully immersed in Classified. I will always have a soft spot for the 88 Joes and they fill me with endless nostalgia. I hope they make Repeater in classified soon. And Spearhead and Maxx.

I wouldn't be surprised if the GI Joe Classified team is working on a deluxe Destro with Despoiler set like they did with Serpentor.

For cobra convergence 9 we should do Cobra army building. What do you Cobra army build the most. Or would be very interesting to see what everyone loves to army build for Cobra. So ask everyone if they want to do that for Cobra convergence 9.

I had a squad of Iron Grenadiers since I needed four mail-in vouchers to get that stupid Super Soldier figure from 1988, the one with the chrome-plated body armor and that shield.

@@Pegwarmers If you plan to conduct war games with your G.I. Joes, you need troops, weapons, battle maps, an objective....I've used multiples of the 1988 Hit & Run figure as a light infantry division dubbed Groucho Squad, repainted some accessories to do away with the gawdy bright plastic colors, etc.
I vote ascot.
We will go with that!
