  • This is the route to the Gulf of Mexico, in this instance from Heavener Oklahoma to Shreveport Louisiana running through Arkansas along the way. This is a collaborative effort re-creating what is soon to be in the history books and a fantastic rendition from the Kansas City Southerns' most scenic subdivision. We'll take a look around the map, what you can do and what you'll need to get started.

    Nice route but one killer requirement that will prevent many from running it - Requires the 3DTrains Tehachapi Pass which is not available.

    Shreveport is my home. My uncle worked for KCS for 25 years as track maintenance. I was blessed to work on a shortline railroad where we moved cars from IP papermill for both KCS and UP

      That’s a [negative] that game has a boring in game experience it would be a waste of content creators potential at the time tsxxxx is where it’s at for now plenty to do operational wise that’s what make a train sim fun and interesting we don’t just drive trains we live this ish i have thousands of hrs invested in this sim I only have like 60 in train sim world 2,3 then shelved it don’t get me wrong it’s beautiful but substance less 😂 in this sim I set up ai yard locomotives to build consist from loose consist while I drive back and fourth between yards to those consist up and drop them off while passing and waiting for traffic now that’s railroading

    At least you didn't say KFC. Is it me or is something not right with 'merica if foreign countries can buy up our trackage. I know it's just Canada, but still. Maybe it's just me. I like the use the ballast heap next to the track to hide perfectly straight lines. I'll be stealing that idea! :) A lot of that scenery looks like down here in SC with the all the pine trees planted in a row. Overall, a pretty damn good looking route.

    • @157RANDOM
      @157RANDOM 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean to be fair, CN and CP already own huge amounts of trackage in the US, but they are private companies with US management divisions, so it isn't like a foreign government owns US trackage. CN has been private since 1995 and a lot of their US acquisitions happened after privatization. Also, couldn't you argue the same thing about Genesee and Wyoming owning trackage in Australia? They are an American company.
      (I should clarify. I don't intend this to come across as rude, just making the point that it is nothing new)

    • @daviddryden8088
      @daviddryden8088 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@157RANDOM US management divisions. Farcical. That's a bit like letting certain companies keep their paint scheme during the great train robberies of 50 years ago. And railroads are only as private as governments allow them to be, let us not forget that. The G&W is not your run of the mill railroads. A peculiar past and stranger acquisitions. But, in all honesty, I did not know CP and CN were private companies in so many words.

    • @157RANDOM
      @157RANDOM 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daviddryden8088 You do make a fair point about the management thing, given that the heads of the company are still mostly Canadian. Then again, when the Canadian railroads had an American CEO (Hunter Harrison) it absolutely destroyed morale and the cuts he made were brutal, so I can understand why there may be some hesitation about that. As for G&W I would tend to agree, they are an oddball. More the point I was making is that CP buying KCS and its trackage in the US is nothing new.

    • @daviddryden8088
      @daviddryden8088 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@157RANDOM Nothing new indeed. The B&LE comes to mind only because I am slightly partial to the old road. I am not quite a student of mergers, acquisitions or hostile takeovers, but why have I not heard of CSX or BNSF buying up shortlines in Canada...maybe it's happened...I don't know.

    • @157RANDOM
      @157RANDOM 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@daviddryden8088 I think the reason is that US roads don't seem interested in the northern market, since the Canadian roads hold so much sway. The US roads seem more interested in competition on the domestic market and into Mexico. Canadian railroads exchange with US roads south of the border quite often but I don't see many US crews changing off north of the border, and to be honest I can't say exactly why that is. I just run the trains. And I am not out of a border terminal so I don't have much experience with cross border crews.

    Quick question, when you use the searchlight AC44 do you use "trail" units for dpus? For some reason mine are always idling no matter what. I read the manual. I also can't use the KCS skin, I copied the geometry file but still no avail. Hm.

    • @schnauzahpowahz

    Unfortunately 9 months is a long time in the simulation world. Link is broken and the efforts of the producer is lost. Maybe forever. Over 25 years of simming I found a mountain of great stuff has been lost due to changes in the computer world. Train simulating is maybe the worst. Every year a new edition which has no backwards compatibility and the company taking away the ability to add modders contributions. The original Train Simulator was kept alive by the contributions of thousands of modders when Microsoft lost interest in the genre. Coals to Newcastle was my favourite scenery package of under done area of the world, Australia.
