I Don’t know if I remember correctly but it is an intentional lie in Mass fusion story, It is used to show corporate corruption. Not a writer mistake because the same writers wrote that it’s a lie to show corporate fraud
If I recall correctly, it is quite clearly stated in game that they couldn't actually make fusion work except for the one Fusion reactor you see in their building.
It also may be a callback to something that happened back in the 1980s/1990s in the real world. The nutshell: A pair of scientists insisted they had managed to get cold fusion to work in their lab tests. After tons of hype and hoopla, they couldn't replicate the results, so they got lambasted for *ages* over it. I think they may even have gotten ostracized to the point of having to find new careers in completely different fields, but that may be just conjecture. It is up for debate whether they were outright lying the whole time, or if they were just simultaneously the luckiest and unluckiest sods to ever enter the STEM field, but. . .yeah. Real world history is WILD sometimes.
Given the fact that they didn't understand the way the fusion generated electricity does not give you radiation poisoning, I think it's certain that they were clueless.
I'm a little surprised that homesteading and urban farming didn't become much more prevalent in Fallout, in response to food shortage, it's happening in real life because of shrink/inflation.
@kevalyarathore223 1. The government would not divert armoured/mechanised infantry _-what would power armour troops count as?-_ from vital tasks to destroy people's vegetable patches and chicken coops. 2. The soldiers themselves would not follow orders to fire on civilians because they are growing food. 3. The alternative is riots and armed anti-government organisations. There is simply no amount of corpo money that would convince a person to act that badly against their own self interest, it would be like asking you how much it would take for you to cut your own hands off.
Doing a little farming in your own yard? What are you doing with all that food? Feeding COMMUNISTS! More or less. The problem we have today is that the technology hasn't matured yet, so many of the critical failings haven't been addressed yet. The companies making the infrastructure are well aware of these and don't really bother to hide them, because governments will give them obscene amounts of money no matter what. In the case of solar panels, I think it's the worst, because the technology is moving so quickly that they have to constantly rip up the old panels and replace them with brand new ones in order to maintain efficiency. Did FO Earth overuse nuclear energy resourses? The thing about nuclear power is that it can last a couple of centuries when used properly. Just look at the fusion cores that can be found in 200 year old buildings at full charge. Even the 50% core at Freedom Museum is impressive after two centuries. Vehicles that explode like mini nukes because they leave low level rads behind. The batteries in those also have to be at full charge. Another thing to consider is that it's FO and what is commonly agreed upon may not be the truth. The shortage may not have been the result of human overconsumption. It could also be the result of someone(s) purposely messing up the availability and/or progress of better energy technology. Humamity's enemies weren't just each other. There were aliens wanting to invade and Lovecraftian horrors trying to enter Earth. Then there are the Precursor race. Who is to say Old Man Cabot is the only one to find a device and tried to use it before the war. Who is to say the Precursor race is truly gone. Remember they looked like any other regular human. The Institute proved that any human may not be a human as we know it. If the Precursor race did not die out like the Cabot's believed then that race is the greatest threat ever known.
Oil has other uses beyond energy and fusion was still new tech before the war that the US was keeping to themselves. That's why they were fighting China for Alaska.
They are not fully charged. They have decayed. If you were to use them at the time, the power source of the armor would have last for a century. These fusion cores are like RTG the power output lessen every day. That's why voyager have almost no instrument power on today.
@@guy_autordie That's always been my logical explanation for why FO1-NV Power Armor didn't need fusion cores, the cores were still good. By the time of 4 the cores are running down, and virtually no one is making new ones. It's not "roasting", grow up. These problems have been well publicized for decades. The reason why nuclear power isn't everywhere despite it's many, many advantages, is because of these inherent drawbacks. Absolutely hilarious that the authors thought that fusion energy somehow generated radiation at the user's home. That's as silly as saying that solar energy gives people sunburn!
The problem with the Fallout TV Show I have with this is SPOILERS AHEAD: Like there was this big working towards fusion power in the game, and the big important bit for the institute was getting normal fusion power but now in the show it turns out cold fusion existed all along? It kinda nullifies the stakes with the energy crisis and the problems the BoS and Institute were having in the end of FO4 imo.
