    The UK custom fit market is a sham ie you get fitted to a specific specification and then the clubs are made up and sent to you.
    Problem is that they have so much tolerances that when you receive your clubs they do not have the same specifications as those tested.
    Off the shelf is even worse. 2 yrs ago I purchased a 64 deg wedge and had it checked for loft and lie - the loft was 68.5

    I'm curious about your comment ... "This one doesn't cross the line"(Raijan Black) From what I saw in the video Matt closely centered almost every shot with the (Vylyn Shaft) and produced a very controlled 5-10yd draw. However the Raijan Balck was 10-15mm toed almost every shot producing a Push Draw. What happens when that strike moves more to the center and doesn't benefit from the toe Push effect ? Does it then start on a much straighter line and cross center ?

    Ian, Matt update on the VA Vylyn shaft I purchased after watching your review. I absolutely love the feel and stability, it just feels like it was made for me and what I want a shaft to feel like. I purchased the 55 Gram Stiff and have it in my Cobra f9 head, and it's just as great feeling with my Cobra Fly Z head on it, the ball flight seems higher and rolls out farther for me, and extra seven to ten yards. It's a great great feeling golf shaft , once again, good video on golf tech, thanks.

    On the topic of feeling a shaft move, don't know if you guys watched The Tiger Woods Project on Golf Channel last week, but he mentioned that his Dad used to cut down the shafts on his clubs when he was growing up so it wasn't until he was tall enough to hit standard length clubs that he even felt a shaft move. He used to just grip it and rip it and the shaft was so stiff he didn't have to worry about timing, but as soon as he got to playing standard length, he had to learn timing.

    A question would be whether a player, skilled enough, could simple manipulate the clubhead/face to be the same place at impact, regardless of shaft characteristic/flex? Like a dead stiff vs a whippy soft, might simple mean that the player reacts and therefore delivers the same numbers? Could this be a thing? Thoughts?
    Cheers!

    • @ianfrasergolf
      @ianfrasergolf 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Max Caysey A highly skilled player would indeed manipulate the club to create something closely resembling the desired result.

    • @maxcaysey2844
      @maxcaysey2844 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ianfrasergolf That was my thought too... I basically assume that's why someone like Mark Crossfield has the same result regardless of shaft. Sure, he was measured in Ping studio where they could measure his lead deflection/ droop etc. and they found that the way he loaded the shaft, shaft made little to no difference for him... I assume his stance on shafts is a mix of both :)

    You guys were just starting to hint at the idea of feels and how they can affect your attitude toward a swing during a round, etc. This year I'm noticing that when I stick with my basic "smoothie draw" I tend to give myself a ton of looks at birdie (and "smoothie" in more putts as well!). I'll end up -4 versus when I'm being aggressive and end up +6! My coach thinks I might need to move up from stiff shafts but I'm hesitant to because I don't want to lose that ability to just smooth it around the course and stay cool as a cucumber.

    i agree with matt that you can feel like you get more for less. i have a kuro kage silver, soft butt, in one driver and when i feel like i hold back a hair its pretty rewarding vs. my other driver which has a BiMatrix Proto in it. i feel like i have to put a real amount of swing effort to get a similar feeling.

    Dang when you said it has a good price point then said $250 my jaw dropped. I play a shaft designed by Tom wishon (designer of the sterling single length irons you tested the other week) cost $29 brand new. Best driver shaft I’ve ever played. Swing speed around 123-125 with my 43.5” driver feels just like those old proforce v2 shafts. Haven’t hit a tee shot OB in like 3 years since playing it. Can’t imagine paying $250 for a driver let alone just a shaft. To each his own I guess.

    Do you think that the performance of that Lst head makes shaft not as important in the fitting process. Matt is at exceptional speed. Ping tends to fit most average players into one of thier 2 proprietary shafts. It seems easier for average fitters, if they can get the static loft correct the low spin nature of the head makes it easier to get a not perfect but close fit. I personally can count on one hand how many great fitters I've experienced. One of these days I'm getting on a plane to come see you guys! Cheers
