Her voice actor plays Lucy in the sequels.
She's like Umbridge's squib cousin from the Deep South, who somehow ended up becoming more overtly evil.
Umbridge just happened to get paid to abuse children after a career in politics. Miss Hattie made it her sole business to abuse and exploit children day and night.

The minions actually have their own language and it's a mix of many languages according to the creator
as a spanish speaker, quite a bit of it is fully intelligible as spanish lol. “para ti” is one example

Such a great film. The first two Despicable Me was a breath of fresh air, absolutely hilarious, fun and fresh, and the film that shot Illumination to the animated studios upper rank. Sure, most of their films after would be mediocre at best, but their first try, is an absolute gem.

While the first Despicable Me is not as good as 2010’s other animated offerings like Toy Story 3, How to Train Your Dragon, and Tangled, it still has a lot of fun and heart, and it was a good first outing for newcomer studio, Illumination. It's no accident that the franchise rose to success immediately after the Shrek franchise ended its run two months prior.
Don't forget Megamind. Some critics at the time liked this film more than that one 🤔.
When I was in Afghanistan, one of my soldiers got a copy of this film from his daughter. We sat down and watched. Then I told my men that as soon as I figured out how to order minions through the supply system, I was replacing all of them.

These films shouldn't be compared to other films. They're so unique unto themselves that they do stand apart. I love this series & these characters. Enjoy the family aspect and the best unusual humor

Yep, there are actually puppet books.
My local library uses them to teach baby's and kids 4 - 8 daily thinks like "how to use kitchen utensils" "ways to effectively use cans" or even "how to properly was your hands, dishes or fruits".

There a puppet book that teaches that it's ok to eat what's what's on the fridge on your house 🏠
There is a puppet book version for very young kids of "The very hungry Caterpillar". Two kids I babysitt have a book with a dragon head puppet.
Ngl, I didn’t watch Despicable Me until a later time. But then, I got curious and when I finally sat down and watched it, I actually had a good time. I enjoyed the dynamic of Gru and the girls. The moments they share with each other are charming and wholesome. Makes me glad to have checked this film out after putting it off for a while.🙂

In this movie, there is a whiteboard with a description of what the Minions are. They're made from genetically modified kernels of corn. You see it in the background at 30:30.
This has, however, been retconned in the Minions movie, where they're shown to basically be the first sentient species on Earth. 🙂
I *loathed* that retcon. They will always be cute lil' corn kernel guys for me. I choose to interpret the "minions" spinoff movies as non-canon bedtime stories made up by Gru for the girls.
Fun fact: Both this franchise and Kung Fu Panda are releasing their fourth films next year. It's also been similar gaps since the third movies too (if you don't count Minions 2, that is)
It's funny that at the time, only Ice Age and Shrek were the only animated franchises to make it to four films. Now we have Toy Story, Hotel Transylvania, Despicable Me, and Kung Fu Panda.

Oh yes!!! I know people love the minions and they are funny, but Gru and the girls were always the heart of these movies for me. I love their relationship so much! I’m also one of 3 sisters so I relate to their sister dynamic too.

I really enjoyed watching “Despicable Me 1” with you guys again as I enjoyed it as a kid🔥. I loved the animation, the music, the weapons, the characters and the voices. One of Steve Carrell’s most iconic characters as I adore his Gru voice👍. Julie Andrews was great as Gru’s mother and brought so much grace to this film. The minions are and always will be amazing😂👏👏. It brought back my childhood memories. I loved how Gru is a spy/villain but then three girls Margo, Edith and Agnes change his life as he gets into parenthood. I’ll be looking forward to your reaction to Despicable Me 2. Loved your reaction/analysis, take care and have a good one❤️

I actually won a seal 🦭 plush on a Carnival 🎠 game on my first try (it was my first carnival since I use to live in the country side).
But I was playing with it and it got stuck on a rooftop 🏠 and it all happened in the same day🥲
It's not weird to have a leash on a kid if its prone to run off, like when its hyperactive or having mental disability (which probably Justin haves), you gotta keep an eye on the kid so it doesn't get hurt or getting in trouble.
It was great watching you all react to this, it's downright hilarious and heartwarming! XD Gru was definitely an unexpected treat. I have a fond memory of seeing it in theaters, people were laughing so hard...Looking forward to the sequel!

My dad always used to hustle tf out of carnival games lol. I've never seen him lose one. One time he even got banned from playing them at that theme park for life bc he won me a few dozen prizes within like an hour😂 idk how he does it, I've only ever won pet goldfish and a rabbit 😅

They made the Three Little Kittens book for real after the movie. I read it many times to my daughter.
The original Three Little Kittens was first published in 1942. The first puppet one I remember from my childhood late 70s early 80s. 😊
The first 2 movies are, to this day, such a fun treat. The other movies are inoffensive enough, but they just don't hold a candle to these two.

The illumination world is so different than Disney because everyone is made of rubber and no one can die. It's a fun change. Also this movie is almost exactly 13 years old which is pretty wild. It feels more recent to me too

You missed the fact that at the front door as he’s walking in, they show the dog skin rug. It is a blink and you miss it, but the movie is darker than you think simply because of that moment and probably others did. It are meant to playoff a joke and yet.
I’ve actually won the ring toss one time and it took like an hour before they gave my gift because they clearly haven’t gotten too many winners💀

Let's be real: Despicable Me was a more surprisingly solid film that was better than it had any right to be. Yeah, it's not How to Train Your Dragon or Toy Story but Illuminations decided that it didn't have to be while still deciding to make something worth while. It was a solid first step for Illuminations and I'm glad they're getting some decent stuff out into the world of animation.

Something this movie never considers (and neither did I the first time I saw it) is that shrinking the moon does not change it's mass, it just makes it more compact. Ergo, it would still WEIGH the same as it did before. Carrying it around should not work in the slightest lol.

Yep, it was 3D. The whole series was on 3D Blu-Ray, too.
Since you guys just entered illumination films territory I highly recommend you guys do the sing films in the future! There are mixed opinions on this film, but if anything they are a fun time!
