Hey DJ - I’m a qualified Data Protection Officer, and I’m intimately familiar with the rules... you’ll be pleased to know, there are no fees to pay for a Subject Access Request any more. That used to be true, but since the new rules came in during May 2018, you can’t be charged for making a request, no matter how long it takes them. The rules for a Freedom of Information request say you can be charged a fee if it takes them a while, maybe that’s the confusion? Thanks for the content, love your work!
Thank you for the clarification. Also just to add for those who aren't aware GDPR only applies to companies Not to individuals. So a small self employed (sole trader) photographer doesn't have to comply but if he/she operates via a Ltd company then it does apply.
First and foremost, DJ I applaud you 👏for always keeping your composure and conducting your self in the correct and knowledgable manner that people actually listen to you and don’t interrupt. The guy in the red trousers is testament to the firm and a calm and logical chap. The ‘Boss’ sadly is an absolute disgrace and seems like a disconnected old skool individual whom if he possibly has grown up kids would watch this and cringe! It wouldn’t hurt to reciprocate with the same demeanour in mannerism but instead probably exaggerated the matter to get the police out there so quick! Both tyrants Boss and Police need to arm themselves with knowledge. However, just to add the Officer whom attended was a nice enough chap and that’s probably the way they should try to conduct themselves for the public to respect them as opposed to a licence to act like disgruntled bully boy tyrants.
What a score. Love these unsigned buildings and your conduct, which was great already, continues to get better and better. Polite, respectful, but firmly within the law and your human rights and stands up for that in the correct way. Keep it up DJ 🙏

Hi Yorkshie wanderer may I just kindly point out that you obviously have not properly thought out your original answer otherwise you would realise that your answer is weak in terms of facts regarding the police / solicitors so let me kindly explain a few things to you and if you disagree with me then that's fine as your entitled to your opinion regardless of whether it is right or wrong This company pays Taxes and pays far more £s in taxes than DJ Audits does and so is entitled to use public services such as the Police ( ( just as DJ AUDITS is entitled to use the same public services such as the police ) because they have ALREADY PAID for such services and so don't need to resort to contacting a solicitor because a solicitor has NO legal powers to make an arrest in the event of a breach of the law So if that individual company member feels it necessary to contact the police regarding legitimate concerns that they may have then they are NOT abusing the police service in any way since that company has FAR MORE TO LOSE than DJ Audit's has in the event of an incident that could cost the company thousands of pounds, you have to remember DJ Audits has gear costing less than £4000 on him at any one time while he is out and about ( Please feel free to correct me DJ if you disagree on this point ) and therefore anyone who owns and runs a business will always do whatever they can to PROTECT their company's interests (wouldn't you ? I know I would ) FOR THE RECORD...... the first guy who came out to speak to DJ AUDITS ( he was wearing a Blue shirt ) acted 100% professionally and was very cordial with DJ and if there was anyone that was acting guardedly with regard to the unfolding conversation between the two of them then it would actually be DJ Audits As for the second guy with the Brown t shirt ( owner ??? ) in general he was not very friendly towards DJ and created a very defensive personal stance and engaged in minimal dialogue with DJ and probably didn't have much respect for DJ at all and that's why he was more interested in talking to the police than talking to a complete stranger who in his mind was a nobody. I do find DJ's videos semi interesting from the point of view that he DEFENDS ordinary citizen's rights when faced with authorities such as the police but DJ AUDITS does have flaws including being cocky and self righteous and talking down to people as if they are 3 years old also when it comes to dealing with the police in some of his videos DJ needs to ACCEPT that if he acts in a childish way such as refusing to name his TH-cam channel when asked for on legitimate grounds then that only further creates a problem regarding the issue of trust and so raises more questions than it answers after all what's the big deal about giving the name of his channel its not like he is special in what he does and so why hide your YT channels identity ? the police could find out if they REALLY wanted too and DJ knows that but for some reason DJ does not seem willing to want to make such information known when politely and innocently asked for I fully agree with DJ AUDITS 100% when he politely informs the Police that he does NOT wish to give his name and address details unless of course he is being charged with a breach of the law in which case DJ Audits would do the right thing and comply with the request Thankfully in this country you are NOT GUILTY until proven otherwise, but ordinary people should always stand and defend their rights when faced with possible ABUSE of legal powers given to police officers because it DOES indeed happen Keep up the public awareness of people's rights DJ AUDITS and thankyou for pointing out such things in your videos
@@martinK7038 so you advocate for *unequal* application of the law based on your ability to pay? Given they were so sensitive regarding drones it's a fair assumption both gents from the company knew exactly what the law said and that they had no legitimate right to try to stop you DJ. By calling the girls and boys in blue, they likely thought you would be intimidated and leave. Alternatively they possibly hoped you might react poorly and irrationally in front of the police, giving grounds for arrest. Well done for remaining polite, calm and open at all times.
“You are doing things people aren’t happy with”, says the grumpy old Bloke. He clearly doesn’t understand that the law in the UK doesn’t make being unhappy about something a crime😁.
Businesses that use the police when unsure about the law should be charged for abusing the public service. It's what the company solicitor is for.
The police are there to serve business and elite, not the small people.
Hi Yorkshie wanderer may I just kindly point out that you obviously have not properly thought out your original answer otherwise you would realise that your answer is weak in terms of facts regarding the police / solicitors so let me kindly explain a few things to you and if you disagree with me then that's fine as your entitled to your opinion regardless of whether it is right or wrong
This company pays Taxes and pays far more £s in taxes than DJ Audits does and so is entitled to use public services such as the Police ( ( just as DJ AUDITS is entitled to use the same public services such as the police ) because they have ALREADY PAID for such services and so don't need to resort to contacting a solicitor because a solicitor has NO legal powers to make an arrest in the event of a breach of the law
So if that individual company member feels it necessary to contact the police regarding legitimate concerns that they may have then they are NOT abusing the police service in any way since that company has FAR MORE TO LOSE than DJ Audit's has in the event of an incident that could cost the company thousands of pounds, you have to remember DJ Audits has gear costing less than £4000 on him at any one time while he is out and about ( Please feel free to correct me DJ if you disagree on this point )
and therefore anyone who owns and runs a business will always do whatever they can to PROTECT their company's interests (wouldn't you ? I know I would )
FOR THE RECORD...... the first guy who came out to speak to DJ AUDITS ( he was wearing a Blue shirt ) acted 100% professionally and was very cordial with DJ and if there was anyone that was acting guardedly with regard to the unfolding conversation between the two of them then it would actually be DJ Audits
As for the second guy with the Brown t shirt ( owner ??? ) in general he was not very friendly towards DJ and created a very defensive personal stance and engaged in minimal dialogue with DJ and probably didn't have much respect for DJ at all and that's why he was more interested in talking to the police than talking to a complete stranger who in his mind was a nobody.
I do find DJ's videos semi interesting from the point of view that he DEFENDS ordinary citizen's rights when faced with authorities such as the police
but DJ AUDITS does have flaws including being cocky and self righteous and talking down to people as if they are 3 years old also when it comes to dealing with the police in some of his videos DJ needs to ACCEPT that if he acts in a childish way such as refusing to name his TH-cam channel when asked for on legitimate grounds then that only further creates a problem regarding the issue of trust and so raises more questions than it answers after all what's the big deal about giving the name of his channel its not like he is special in what he does and so why hide your YT channels identity ? the police could find out if they REALLY wanted too and DJ knows that but for some reason DJ does not seem willing to want to make such information known when politely and innocently asked for
I fully agree with DJ AUDITS 100% when he politely informs the Police that he does NOT wish to give his name and address details unless of course he is being charged with a breach of the law in which case DJ Audits would do the right thing and comply with the request
Thankfully in this country you are NOT GUILTY until proven otherwise, but ordinary people should always stand and defend their rights when faced with possible ABUSE of legal powers given to police officers because it DOES indeed happen
Keep up the public awareness of people's rights DJ AUDITS and thankyou for pointing out such things in your videos
@@martinK7038 so you advocate for *unequal* application of the law based on your ability to pay?
You might want to check Victoriam history on that one, read the peelian principles and understand that a basic principle of the British evolved uncodified constitution is "equal application of the law to ALL citizens".
If that's the case why is there a charge when the fire service is called out to a false alarm?
@@Rachel_M_ Hi Rachel no I am not advocating for unequal application of the law based on your ability to pay, the reason why you have taken my comment out of context is because I forgot to put in brackets the following words........ ( just as DJ AUDITS is entitled to use the same public services such as the police ) ITS MY FAULT FOR NOT ADDING THIS and therefore I can very well see why you may think what you did because it reads as though because that company pays MORE TAXES than DJ Audits then they are somehow entitled to a level of police service that DJ Audits is not............ WHICH IS CLEARLY NOT THE CASE as all UK citizens are entitled to equal application of the law being applied and the provision to use that public service
GENUINE MISTAKE on my part and I am happy to set the record straight Rachel and thankyou for the interesting history lesson regarding the Peelian principles as laid down by the Metropolitan Police founder Sir Robert Peel in 1829
I have now added the following additional words to my original reply which I forgot to add when I was writing my reply the first time

How ridiculous is that.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about auditing, there must be no doubt about DJ being fantastic at it.
That police officer knew he could be doing much better things than attending this call like having a nice ice-cream in the park. I did when I was a police officer happy days.
Or getting up to some law-breaking behaviour of his own...
To be fair, going to sleep would be a better use of his time

Squaddie giving 0 F’s apart from being curious. Love it.

Bosses are living on an echo chamber. Sometimes it's nice to see them taken down a peg or two!
"Well, who's going to watch your video" That quote in the opening clip aged like fine wine.

He designs products to spy on others, but doesn’t like it when you lawfully observe his operation.
Oh, the irony.
So delighted you delivered that with the most friendly, approachable, informative, engaging style. Gave him no way to do anything without looking petty & grumpy. A feat he achieved with considerable aplomb!
Nice, polished audit. Your professionalism only grows by the day.
The initial interaction with police was absolutely beautifully done
Yes so exciting I nearly cummed my pants

A highlight of the video was the polite cop not spouting obnoxious directives. It seemed as though your short and succinct explanation was appreciated and sufficed.
These people want to keep secrets but can't go back inside so they won't be questioned. A perplexing situation indeed 😅
I once had a walkie talkie and I was in my moms bedroom pointing it out the window and I picked up a landline conversation between two old blokes. It was such a dry convo. But they’d have been absolutely astounded in the 90s if they’d have known some kid was listening in 😂😂😂

Expertly done, nobody does it better. The piece about the Access Request and them now legally not being able to delete the footage was fantastic, you proper bamboozled him 😂😂😂
Apart from being a bit petty and unnecessary.
When DJ mentioned that they can legally charge him a reasonable fee for the footage (like an hourly rate or so), he probably thought he would charge DJ some exorbitant fee. I hope he did just that, as I know DJ would just say that he's changed his mind and remind them to shut the gate.
It's always fascinating to me how the higher the management the more ignorant they are.
It would be good if, whatever the 'industry body' for the various company sizes would publish the appropriate drone laws, but that might spoil auditing I suppose

Counter drone technology has come on in leaps and bounds since Ukraine kicked off. I was reading the other day how both sides are having their drone capability severely reduced. In some cases down to minutes in the air, before the drone is compromised in the air.
The officer asked a question , listened to the answer, and thanked dj for talking to him. 100% . 1 min and 10 seconds conversation. Quiet, polite and short. That should be shown at every police station. every day. Until they learn.
He was just annoyed he didn't get his own way, blue shirt was OK, the officer was excellent and DJ you did try and explain but t shirt man didn't want to hear it, guess he gets his own way inside the building 😊

Heard rumours that the ''Gatwick drone incident '' was done intentionally by a company that wanted to promote their anti-drone technology. if you look into that case you'll soon find none of it adds up. VERY interesting that he told you to google that and didn't just give you the info. Reg plate was also interesting.
I'm always taken aback how in a commercial area they frequently try to flip the script by referencing "how would you like it if we flew a drone over YOUR HOUSE"

I'm also fairly certain knowing the nature of their work, they are fully aware of the laws around GDPR. Perhaps in future interactions you might wish to ask for the contact details of an organisation's Data Controller- the designated person who is legally responsible to the Information Commissioner's Office..?

Correct name is Subject Access Request. Also no fee should be charged by the data controller
@@aodhan2023 Not so. Prior to my retirement I dealt with DSARs on a daily basis. You are simply wrong. Also, what fee should be charged is just your opinion; companies are allowed to charge a reasonable administrative fee to provide these DSARs (for the company I worked for it was £15). Part of the reason for this was to help stop mass spamming of requests, which is what could happen if they were free.
