Writing an actual letter is more effective than going through the website where you will get a canned response based on the topic you have to choose. Calling is good, too, but recommend you write down or use a bullet list of what you want to say. From everyhing I've seen writing is best. A person has to open, read, and then respond. It gets attention. Talk to your circle of like-minded family and friends. Have them write their concerns, too. Ask them to do the same in their own individual circle. Together you can make a difference. Let's let our representatives know we're holding them to their oaths.

It's something lawyers think about a lot. Also, under the way lawyers are trained in law schools, established precednnt is only supposed to be overturned in the case of new compelling info. (For instance, if viabiljty was suddenly at 12 weeks instead of 24.) They aren't supposed to overturn stare decisis, preceddent, and reliance just because they had have the numbers as they did and have done on multiple issues, including Chevrron and Miranda (of all things!) etc, etc, etc.

Liberal independent here as well...As soon as somebody figures out how to overcome the corporate money and influence and the winner-take-all, first-past-the-post voting system that creates the two-party duopoly to create a viable third party, I'm in. Of course, that party would also have to find a way to address the staggering levels of apathy and willful ignorance of how things work (like the government, economy, etc.), but also the problem of media illiteracy that allows propaganda to be so effective. If we can't rehabilitate traditional media to regain trust in it or hold social media to a higher standard, (neither of which is possible until the profit motive is eliminated) then I don't see any way to break the electorate out of their chosen media bubbles to become informed and engaged enough to vote on anything other than "vibes." The Democrats, and especially DNC, certainly bear a lot of the responsibility for what happened in this election, but I don't see anyone addressing the fact that much of the electorate is simply low-information and low-engagement and easily manipulated. There are many reasons for why they didn't vote. But the main one I believe is they did not have the time and/or energy to do their civic due diligence because they are just barely keeping their heads above water to survive.

Exactly. There is movement at the state level, but a national conversation detailing what we can expect and how to prepare to face it is long overdue. It was really hard seeing Trump and Pres. Biden sitting together in the oval office, chatting like this was any other election year.

We should have learned that the first time. When we ran Hillary. Then we decided to run not just a woman but a black woman for president. A double whammy. Harris never had a chance between the racism and misogyny.
Liberal independent here as well...As soon as somebody figures out how to overcome the corporate money and influence and the winner-take-all, first-past-the-post voting system that creates the two-party duopoly to create a viable third party, I'm in. Of course, that party would also have to find a way to address the staggering levels of apathy and willful ignorance of how things work (like the government, economy, etc.), but also the problem of media illiteracy that allows propaganda to be so effective.
If we can't rehabilitate traditional media to regain trust in it or hold social media to a higher standard, (neither of which is possible until the profit motive is eliminated) then I don't see any way to break the electorate out of their chosen media bubbles to become informed and engaged enough to vote on anything other than "vibes."
The Democrats, and especially DNC, certainly bear a lot of the responsibility for what happened in this election, but I don't see anyone addressing the fact that much of the electorate is simply low-information and low-engagement and easily manipulated. It's incredibly frustrating.

There are many reasons for why they didn't vote. But the main one I believe is they did not have the time and/or energy to do their civic due diligence because they are just barely keeping their heads above water to survive.

To many politicians, it is just a game they lost this time. They are still financially solvent, can take trips away from all of this or luxuriate in their mansion. To us it is excruciating and life-altering. We are stuck with what we get.

I’m very supportive of Democrats. I was behind them throughout the election and remain proud of Harris/Walz now. I simply think this loss, and our impending move to American authoritarianism is being managed poorly, and I’d like to see leadership adjust. One of the best things about not being republican/far-right/MAGA is that we don’t have to just have to pretend everything is good. Self reflection isn’t self-destruction. Lessons can be learned.
