- So this is what goes on behind-the-scenes at the bakeries here in Paris, where even a small, family-owned bakery makes at least 800 baguettes a day!! Not to mention the 4am morning shifts... Culinary school might have shown me the ropes, but this BTS tour really showed me the sheer amount of work that goes into the art of bread-making. I am in awe.

I know it’s probably weird to have noticed this but I was impressed by how clean the subway was. Also by how much they try to reduce waste and use scraps and leftovers. Jealous of this experience 😍🤤

I would love to know if you think culinary school is worth it as a “break” from my full time job? Is it expensive? I love cooking but I feel really confined because I live alone and can’t eat that much so have to scale everything down, but I’d love to experiment more and learn with other people.
It is pretty expensive. I'd suggest looking at your local community colleges. A lot of times they offer cooking or baking classes for a more affordable price and teach skills for home cooking. Source: I went to culinary school in France and US.

Its so funny to see the comparison between the school and bakery life. Having been through both, it's so interesting to watch, and they are definitely right, school is fun like a vacation and working in a bakery is different. Are you going to do an internship at a bakery in Paris?

I had dreams of going in pastry/working in a bakery, and all of this just feels so daunting, like there's so much information and I feel so behind and don't even know where to start even if I wanted to..
So nice to see foreigners discovering and enjoying how a French Bakery works for real ! (And please say "Chocolatine" and not "Pain au Chocolat" !!!! jkjkjkjk)
