There are postal ballots for the people who work as election staff. No one else has them everyone has to come to vote their Member of Parliaments in one day starts at 6-7 Am and ends at 5 pm in the evening, but in places the boot officer will allow the people who have come to stand in line at 5pm till the line ends

One of this election booths was set up 70 kilometers inside the dense forest of Gir sanctuary. Interestingly, the Election Commission of India (ECI) set up this booth just for one person because even that one vote counts...

The greatest achievement of the election process in India is that over a billion people believe in it. Whether a party wins or loses, all parties have faith in the system. There have been allegations here and there, but still the system remains impartial and fair. The preservation of this faith and trust in such a vast nation with millions of voters, that is, imho, a greater achievement even than the huge logistical exercise the Indian elections are. Soooooooo proud.

A single voting booth is for approx 1000 voter. So for 900,000,000 people there are approx 900,000 voting booths, so 900,000*6 govt officials and 900,000*3 armed security personnel. So it is impossible to conduct in a single day.

My father who retired as a DM this year said he saw a booth capture in his own eyes. It was terrifying. And you have to submit or else you'll get shot. But he actually stood up to them in a very diplomatic way. He was like why are you wasting energy the left is gonna win here anyway here here help that old woman please. And for some reason they got really stumped🤣.

What you must understand is that to us election is not just a political exercise, it is also a festival. People of ideologies and shades of opinion vote in their own ways to elect their representatives who in turn elect a leader and Government.
