Thank you! The good old days when life was simple . We kids could play on the street, in front of our houses. Go to the neighbors, hang out, not worry about anything. We had good TV shows that we're wholesome and instructive. What a great childhood!!
Thanks, Rob! Merry Christmas to you and your family! You should be proud for the part you played in bringing this to the public. Television is so different these days and does not provide these kinds of programs.
I also grew up with Ozzie and his family in the 50th. They had the best tv show not just their show, father knows best and Donna Reid shows a leave it to beaver. You can’t get any better with all those wonderful shows.
Many thanks, Rob, RJ and Team AWOW for a very interesting program. I tear up seeing James Stacy. I adored him in Lancer. Such a brave soul in the face of so much tragedy. Many thanks again, Happy Holidays and the best of health to you all and your loved ones.🎉🎉🎉🎉
Merry Christmas, to me!! I'm so excited, I absolutely love this video, thanks to TH-cam, to me its a Christmas Classic!! I found it a few years back & I have watched it ever since. I even watch it throughout the year if I need a pick me up, or just for fun!! I miss the Nelson family, but its great hearing about Ricky's kids every now & then!! ❤️ Thank you, Rob, this is such a treasure you did a brilliant job!!! Merry Christmas, to you and the Word Family! 🎄🎀🎄
I think it's hilarious that the show starts off with Ozzie getting Harriet in the mouth with the ping pong ball, but at the end, Harriet gets Ozzie back by a rock right on his backside...😆. Another thing I noticed that at the end where the car is broke down, Ozzie & Harriet are out standing on the road talking to Rick...he bumps is bumper on theirs & the car starts going. Look at Harriet run & jump in the car & save the day...Bravo!! Being a heavy smoker she did really good!!! 👍👍
This Christmas 🎄 😍 ❤️ special is a fabulous treat for families all around . Of course , a wonderful tribute to Ozzie Nelson and to his entire family as well . May all four of the Nelson Family ❤ RIP . 💐🌸🪷🌹🌺🌻🌼🌷🪻⚘️
I loved the Nelsons and have always had a special place in my heart for Ricky. I was the perfect age for him to have been one of my first teen idols and I loved hearing him sing. I have the collection of their tv series but this particular movie isn’t part of it. Thx so much for the upload!! 💖🎄🎅🏼
In the early years of "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" on television, Ricky Nelson left notes all over the house that had his lines in the script. I have a dvd that titled "The Story of Ozzie and Harriet" which was produced by David Nelson. Harriet Nelson was born Peggy Snyder. Her mother's maiden name was McNutt. Harriet grew up in a Catholic home. Her dad was an actor. He took the stage last name Hilliard. When Harriet became an actress, she took the last name Hilliard and she changed her first name from Peggy to Harriet.
Have never seen the show (it finished year I was born ) not even re runs although Rob I think you mentioned it's on TH-cam (what isn't 😂) so I'll have to look it up.
After a record setting 14 years for a sit-com, the ratings were dropping and the "boys" were adults. Ozzie tried again with the syndicated sit-com, OZZIE'S GIRLS, renting the "boys" room out to coeds. That didn't work either. Times were changing.
Rick was on the road. We thought he'd be able to fit our shoot into his schedule. When he saw the finished show, he expressed his regrets on missing it. We were kinda bummed. I'd seen him perform several times at the old Palomino Club in Burbank.
Thanks for posting this, Rob! It's hard to argue that a show that ran for 14 seasons is actually underrated, but O&H does not get nearly the degree of respect it deserves today. Too bad. Ozzie is like a 50's version of Larry David in many ways, and the best episodes rival the hilarity of Preston Sturges screwball comedies.
I think part of the problem is that Ozzie and Harriet hasn’t gotten the exposure over the years as some of its contemporaries. The Arnazes sold I Love Lucy to CBS after the network run ended, and CBS/Viacom ensured that it got exposure in network daytime reruns and on the strongest stations in syndication. They later restored it for home video and colorized some episodes and even recently did a Blu Ray release. It has been treated like a crown jewel. The Nelsons hung on to ownership of their show, so it didn’t have a media giant behind it or a great distribution strategy.
@@jaredjlinden Those are good points. My fellow boomers usually look at me like I have two heads when I recommend it, but I think it's essentially for the reasons you cite. They only have very fuzzy memories of the show from childhood, and assume it hasn't aged well. Many of the episodes are still a hoot though.
Also, great to see these actors later in life. Until watching this presentation, I didn't appreciate what a lovely woman Mary Jane Croft was. I don't think I could have stay married to Clara Randolph for more than 30 seconds though inasmuch as her character was VERY funny at times.

Thanks, Steve. It's hard for me to realize that we did this over 40 years ago. Yet, I still enjoy it. Merry Christmas.

I grew up with the Nelsons!
Me, too, al.
Omg a ping pong in Harriet’s mouth. I laughed and laughed 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Every week thurday before donna reed show on ABC .. Ozzie and Harriet show couldnt wait to watch the show ..
Great to watch in 1981 but too sad today.
It’s good to see this…back when evil wasn’t blatant. Breath of fresh air.
Believe it or not I remember watching this episode of the boys getting jobs 😅
I believe you, Frank. So do I!!
Yeah im feeling semi sad myself my beloved daughter is not feeling well and i lost one of her presents god bless everyone
Grew up with this show... Friends teased me, and named me after Ozzie. Then parents took it up instead of Grampa's version "Hausi" for rabbit LOL

It's sad that everyone except Kent McCord is no longer with us.

Why did the Nelsons go off the air ?
After a record setting 14 years for a sit-com, the ratings were dropping and the "boys" were adults. Ozzie tried again with the syndicated sit-com, OZZIE'S GIRLS, renting the "boys" room out to coeds. That didn't work either. Times were changing.
This video was made in 1981. Ozzie Nelson died in 1975. That's why he wasn't in this video.
I did not see Rick in this 1981 show. Had he passed? I know he died in a plane crash.
Yep. We did it as a tribute to Oz.
Rick was on the road. We thought he'd be able to fit our shoot into his schedule. When he saw the finished show, he expressed his regrets on missing it. We were kinda bummed. I'd seen him perform several times at the old Palomino Club in Burbank.
A reminder that not all programs age well over time.

Very perceptive, Jared. Thanks.
Was this on a different type of ne😮x n network d.w.
Golden West Broadcast superstation over 40 years ago.

You can see a younger Mary Jane in Our Miss Brooks where she played the rival to Miss Brooks. Mary Jane didn't use the famous voice on that show.
