It's amazing to see how much Carnivores content is still coming out from the community given the age of the games. And it was all covered in a nice, wrapped up package of a video. A gigantic thank you my friend for the shout-out in the video as well! I'll keep doing my best to show off the Redux as it develops and hope to see more videos from you as well as this year continues on.

I always found SE to be a difficult mod to play but it is still very fun!

It wont work with sound for me, but different builds of an OS and drivers, whatever, might work wonders for you or someone else. Carnivores 2 and 3 use basically the same engine so the mod should work with those too. I cant test it as neither games run period without a cracked launcher.
I have a github with the mod. It features multi radius path based screen space raytraced ambient occlusion, light glow effects on plant vegetation, very minor bloom HDR, a more believable layer of fog colorized to hide pop in and out very lightly, and modern antialiasing + an intelligent sharpener. Unfortunately I also cant get the direct x path to render so its Glide only for me. Software rendering mode does not work with raytracing.

So basically it makes the geometry less basic, flat, and is a subtle shadow system on some minor but very real level. Shaders. No color though like pixel shaders. Just darkness, and brightness on geometry.

Also cool mods bro. I havent bothered with them. Maybe my other machine once its fixed, or a VM will fix the problem with this game. I loved it as a kid, thought id do what I could with the limitations of technology I had. If it looks even 1% better im sold. I think its a little better than that but its not mind blowing in some games. The sweet spot is about playstation 2 to Xbox era. Newer games raytracing doesnt have as much to offer because its already pretty damn good looking. Too old and you cant really get anything out of it.
Amazing that a 90s indie hunting game has made it so far

Will you showcase the “Outdated” DLC animals in Far North released by Ophie on the Discord? Also, you didn’t showcase the DLC Invertebrates for Mandibles, will you make a video about them in a similar format to the one with the C+ DLC dinos? ;)

Siberian Expeditions just snuck in and stole the crown for Carnivores Modding at the very last second. I can see why, it's an amazing total conversion mod! I'm hoping for another mod by that creator, perhaps set in the Rockies or in a desert-like environment such as Arizona.
I might've already said this somewhere else before, but I'd be able to die completely satisfied if Murttheburt could give us some World War 1 and/or World War 2-era weaponry to play Carnivores with. He's got so much talent in creating weapon handling/reloading animations that really show attention to making detailed, accurate, and just overall fun firearms to hunt with!
Seeing his style and professionally-crafted guns as an addon mod to the classic Carnivores or other mods like the Mauser c96, Gewehr 43, M1 carbine, Kar98k/Mauser 98, Mp-18, etc would be so cool. I know that few years ago he posted a short demo video of an mp-18 in carnivores reloaded, just a personal thought from me.
TL;DR - You're an awesome content creator that deserves so much more attention, along with the modders you showcase, keep up the good work man
Nice video! I think my favorite things so far are ornithomimid1’s projects like hunting dogs and multiplayer, as well as the ambient AI slots. The other mods are great, but I feel like that is the biggest impact to modding as there are so many different things made possible thanks to ornithomimid 1.

3 Saurian Target uploads in half a month!? This is getting out of hand... ;) Love the idea of the Carnivores Mods Year Review, and I hope that this series may continue next year, as far away as that sounds!
Siberian Expeditions is definitely the main mod of the year, but we also got so many DLC addons for a variety of other games and mods that they could qualify for a favourite choice of themselves (for me, that would be either Jeff's Sigilmassosaurus or the re-designed JPHL Maps). Though probably the best part of 2020's lockdown and quarantine procedures was the fact that I, and I think many others, got the chance to catch-up and play through a majority of mods old and new. I got to experience C+, Mandibles, Triassic and Wastelands for the first time thanks to last year's chaos, so there's that.
I'm also really looking forward to the Genesis Redux! I've heard rumors and whispers about it on the Discord, and now you have clarified and confirmed my suspicions. Definitely going to give it a go when the time arises.
Congrats on finally getting to try out some classic mods! Looks like some good did come of last year.

2020 wasn’t a good year for most of us but heck it was a great year for Carnivores mods
So i guess the Carnivores modding community is mainly on ModDB these days? I was a lurker on the Carnivores Saga forum back in the day, was sad when they shut down.
ModDB is where the new mods go, yes, but the community itself is mostly on Discord (link in the description)

SAURIAN! i need help theres a problem with the car editor i put it through virustotal file scan and it said it 12 DIFFERENT MALICIOUS SYSTEMS and the weird thing is i had it before and nothing bad happend but i acceidentaly deleted and when when i downloaded it said Mcafee stopped a virus so now im sad if you know anything on whats wrong PLEASE! tell me
You should try to edit the carnivores games into a movie like make some of the dinosaurs into a stampede like if they are chased by a pack of allosauruses and make it look like they are fighting and eating each other

Hi! This is unfortunately unrelated to the video itself but I finally got a PC for Christmas and I can now play Carnivores mods! However, I am stuck in software mode for everything except the vanilla C2 game. I'm really not sure why, but 3DFX (Glide) causes mods to be completely unplayable. I have tried to find a way to get D3D to work but I cant find anywhere to download it from. Does anyone know how to get Glide to work with Carnivores mods? I have tons of questions and its stressing me out haha. :) This question is sort of for anyone who knows, not just Saurian, so all help is appreciated.
I also have questions about Primal Prey, which is just a whole nother can of worms lol.
@Juan Manolo Sorry for the late repy, my internet totally crapped itself and I couldn't get onto TH-cam. Thank you so much though! I used Glide, and it didn't crash at 1024x768! I haven't done a lot of testing to see if it made much of a difference but I'm mostly happy I can actually play it now. :)
one more question, haha! I managed to get Primal Prey and Cityscape to work. But I am having trouble with Carnivores mods again! I know you use 1-6 on the keyboard to switch between weapons, but because there are more than 6 in some mods, I cant switch to them, which sucks if I want to switch between a sniper and a self defense weapon. Sorry for clogging the comments section, the Carnivores forums don't seem to want to work on my devices. Thanks all!
@Juan Manolo I was just playing Triassic (the second to last release) and couldn't get it to work. I tried using the top row of numbers and the keypad to the right of my keyboard, and neither worked! I also tried using the F keys at the top (F1, F2, ect) and they didn't work either. It just says "No Weapon". I am using debug mode though, maybe that's why it doesn't work? It wouldn't bug me as much if I didn't use mostly sniper rifles which are often last in the weapons roster. Thanks so much for responding to me, I'm new to PC gaming in general and always feel like I'm annoying when I ask questions haha

I was thinking about the mobile ports getting a big makeover. Big as in a new animal big. Remember that one idea for a cave lion you had as an addition? Well, imagine if for the 20th anniversary, Tatem added cave lions into the game and they're just as dangerous as ever. They'd be the last animal before the yeti for quite a reason! Like the Coelophysis in Dinosaur Hunter, the cave lions would hunt in big prides (there's evidence that proves they did this irl) and would chase you down until they get you! Pretty scary huh?

Can someone make some joke mod where it’s just Carnivores 2 but everything is backwards
Herbivores are deadly and aggressive and carnivores are safe and skittish
Every gun you’d expect to be weak is strong and everything you’d expect to be strong is weak
Every weapon that’s loud is quiet and that’s quiet is loud
And if this is possible without stretching models, make small dinos big and big dinos small
And as an extra funny joke the trophy ship arrives in upside down (if it’s possible)
And OF COURSE add in lethal zones but make them in weird unexpected spots
I’d love to see that added, most carnivores mods go serious but this one can shake things up and not be so serious
3 years later and I understand carnivores modding enough to make half of this, idk how to edit the trophy ship or add mortal zones, everything else I know how to do, I just don’t have the motivation to do so
