I and my older brothers worked at KI in it's first years after opening. I started in the summer of 1973 and worked their for 4 seasons. I worked in the Food Service warehouse, german beergarden and was a stand manager for one season. It was very hard work, many didn't last a full day. I remember when the Beast was built, I'm pretty sure it was the largest coaster in the U.S. We made $2.65/hr and got a small bonus at the end of the season if we worked the entire season. That job got me through the first two years of college, so I am grateful.
That sounds awesome! It was the fastest and longest coaster when it opened, and still holds the record for being the longest wooden coaster in the world.
May this ride never end. I'm afraid that when this ride is retired it will be the last of its kind. I hope that this savage, visceral experience will live forever. It's not about the tallest, nor the flashiest, nor the fastest, nor the most "extreme". Sure, there's a niche for those and I'm onboard for that. But dayum, give me this savagery all day long. Give me the banged knees, give me the headaches, give me anything that reminds me that I'm alive and not in control. Give me that reminder from the double helix that it's the best there ever was and ever will be. Go ahead, do your 80 or 90mph coaster, but at least give me this ride one more time so that I can live.
It really will be sad once this gem gets removed from the park. I am so glad they have done re-tracking to the ride a few years ago which was much needed. It still gives an awesome experience without too much head banging, whiplash, or jerkiness like most old wooden coasters nowadays (which I don’t hate necessarily, but I don’t love it either). If I grew up with this coaster, then I would feel the same way about this coaster as you.
100% agree! I love many coasters for different reasons, steel, wooden, hybrid, all great in they're own way, but this one just gives me a different thrill. The Beast is one of my favorites. They don't make them like this anymore, sadly.

Yep it’s definitely a fun ride! I really liked how it interacted with the terrain and the tunnels it goes through. It’s a very out and back coaster which is pretty unique. I wanted to get one before I left the park, but I decided to get some other credits before the park closed since we got there later in the day.
Great sound! I rode this many times over multiple visits 30 years ago. That last long curve is where she gathers her top speed. I'll never forget that long as I live. Great video.
@itsdecentpovs2728 valleyfair shakopee mn has renegade and is the best gci wood and night rides are insane on that. It still flies fast after all these years
Yeah, Renegade looks to be the best coaster at Valleyfair, and night rides on any GCI coaster are insane. I’ve heard it’s gotten pretty rough though over the past few years. Does it still ride okay or does the rattle ruin the experience?
Definitely! I wish I could have gotten a night ride on this, but a sunset ride will do. I got a night ride on racer because I wanted more credits at the park, and it was a pretty sweet little wooden coaster. I liked Kings Island even though I think I was expecting the staff to be a little nicer. There was a lot going on the night I went there so I guess it made sense that some of the staff weren’t very happy.
It is amazing at night. For a special treat, if you ride it right at dusk there are bats flying around everywhere. Though only those in the front couple of seats can see them.
Mannn, that looks FUN!!!!! What a long, fast ride.....through beautiful surroundings. I was there as a kid and probably rode it, but I would love to go ride it again. Really impressive!
It was a really fun for my first time! I can definitely agree with how impressive the ride is as it still holds the record for the longest wooden coaster and was built back in 1979.
Definitely! It was a wooden coaster way ahead of its time, and it still is an elite wooden coaster today. They were originally were going to close the ride down for the whole day when I went a few months ago, but they decided to open it back up right before sunset so I got an amazing ride on it. I can’t decide if I like this or The Voyage better.
I have, and I agree I do like Iron Gwazi more, but that is a steel hybrid RMC. Voyage and The Beast are probably in the top 5 best wooden roller coasters in America since they are both very unique and enjoyable coasters.
Growing up I was afraid of coasters and wouldn’t ride them. But my school’s senior trip was at Cedar Point and I got shamed into riding the Blue Streak. I loved it! As it was a weekday in May the park was not busy so a bunch of us rode it half a dozen times. As a result of conquering that fear I rode The Beast the year it opened. An unbelievable experience in an era when wooden coasters ruled the world!
Thats cool! I had a bad fear of coasters when I was younger, but once I rode more coasters they became less scary. I rode all of the coasters at my home park back in 2018 and since then I had not been afraid of nothing maybe besides some of the strata coasters. The scariest one I have ridden was X2 at night in SFMM back in 2021, and after that I am not scared of coasters really anymore. I still have not ridden a strata coaster, but over the summer I will (hopefully) and I’m not really that scared to ride it.
It's been ages since I've been to King's Island, but this was the very first coaster I ever rode waaaaaay back 35+ years ago. I also had the front row seat for my first run, and I'll never forget it. They just don't make them like this anymore.
Yeah, the Beast was a one of a kind wooden coaster that will probably hold the record for several years I would imagine. It wasn’t as memorable for me as I didn’t really have a connection to it, but I can see why people liked this as their first roller coaster.
Yep haha, I think the support structure of this ride is a little abnormal, but the ride runs very well and is one of the best wooden coasters I have ridden.
I agree, rougher woodies sometimes give the out of control sensation that most coasters don’t provide. Don’t get me wrong, I love steel coasters but in my opinion wooden coasters have a special place in my heart.
For sure! The back is not half bad either. It provides a great ride in any row, but I would agree that the front is my favorite especially because it can be a little rougher in the back.
i have road this coaster 108 times. it never gets old,. i first rode it in 1982, i was 10 years old..my most recent ride was yesterday 5/21/2024.i am 51 now.
@@itsdecentpovs2728 last summer I used the fast pass a few times and did 20 rides each day. For 2 days. Coulda got way more rides but wanted to ride other stuff. This summer I will do the same. Use fast pass and rack up rides. I’m at 108 right now. By the end of July I should be at 200 easily. I’m aiming for 500 rides. Just a personal goal I set for myself. And back then. It was pretty much like it is now. Not as rough tho. . Not much has changed. It’s been consistent over the years.
Well I’m glad that Kings Island has been keeping this ride maintained for so long especially since it’s a nice little gem at the park. Hopefully you can reach your achievement of getting 500 rides on it, and 102 rides on The Beast is pretty impressive!
The longest coaster ever I think is in Japan called “Steel Dragon 2000”. This one is definitely one of the longest coasters in the world and I think the longest wooden coaster at least.
@sisfinley4091 Yeah, it’s very long and it’s impressive because it was built in the late 70s and it still holds the record for being the longest wooden coaster today.
Thank you so much! I’m hoping to create more POV content, off-ride footage, and possibly other types of videos (related to roller coasters) soon, so stay tuned for more! :)
Wonder why more people haven’t figured out the last seat is actually the Best bc you get to whip down from the whole hill instead of being part way down in the front row before the cars release to whip downhill… why don’t others understand this? 😮😂🎉
Some people don’t love intense rides, but I don’t mind. I know some of my friends can get dizzy when riding some inverted coasters in the back. It just depends on your opinion, but I can agree that sometimes the back does give a more thrilling experience than the front. If I rode it again, I would have tried it in the back.
Yeah, I wish I could have ridden it again, but I wanted some other credits and instead ended off the night with a ride on The Racer. It was still an awesome experience though.
@@itsdecentpovs2728 You NEED to do a night ride on the Beast. It's a completely different experience out there whipping through the woods in complete darkness. Best roller coaster night ride there is, hands down. I got a late-night front row ride at Haunt one year, with like only a couple of other people riding, and it was crazy out there with no light but the moon and the mist rising among the trees. Top five roller coaster experience ever.
This is a terrific wooden coaster, my all time favorite alongside the Grizzly at Kings Dominion (I think I read a while ago that they were designed by the same person)
Huh, I didn’t know they were built by the same person. I need to check out grizzly sometime in the future as I have heard great things about it after it’s retracking a few years ago.
Yeah, it surprisingly maintained a lot of its speed. A more newer coaster reminds me of it not too far which is the Voyage at Holiday World. I really loved the speed sensation though and especially on the helix is where you really feel the speed of this ride.
Most are probably under two minutes. This one would provide an amazing night ride because of its length. I was planning on riding this one at night, but I was still satisfied to get a sunset ride on this.
Wow, did you get to ride Son of Beast? That sounds great though. I know the ride has slightly been tamed because of the trims on mainly the second drop, but it still runs pretty well.
@thinkbeforyouvote That’s cool! I wish I got rerides on this coaster, but I wanted to check out some of the coasters while I was there. It probably ran much faster than it does now.
Honestly from the wooden coasters I’ve experienced, this ride to me was not rough at all. Unless if you’re talking before the re-track happened, then I would probably understand. I agree it’s a very fun wooden coaster though, and a long one too!

Wow how did it run back then? I am happy Kings Island has maintained this attraction, and I hope they keep this gem for many more years. It has a special feel to it that to me doesn’t compare to some of the other wooden coasters I have been on.
Haha I like that reference! It’s a nice ride and one of the best wooden coasters I have ridden. I still have a few wooden coasters that I have on my bucket list that I will hopefully be able to try in the next couple years.
Definitely, but this one doesn’t shake you around like some of the others I have ridden. It’s actually one of the smoother wooden coasters I’ve been on.
I love this ride!! I swear sometimes when I’d ride it after dark when I was younger it was like on a different level. I swear I had brain damage the one night. My cousin and I wanted to hit it one more time before closing. So we ran to it at like 930. There was nobody in line and we got on it like 5 times in a row. It was awesome!! I wish son of the beast was still operating. Loved that one too!!
Haha, that sounds like something I would do! My home park is Six Flags Saint Louis and my friend and I rode Screamin’ Eagle 20 times in one day in the back row (which is very rough and give you a headache after 3 rides), but it was hilarious! I would love to marathon this at night especially because I definitely feel like this would be an amazing night ride. I should have rode Diamondback and went back to this for my last few rides, but I watched the fireworks and rode the Racer instead for an extra credit before I left that night.
Yeah, I love wooden coasters mainly for the roughness, but too much gives me a headache. An example would be the coaster at my home park “The Boss”. It is a nice wooden coaster, but it can give you a headache if you ride on it sometimes. That ride is sort of problematic though and lots of people complain about it, so hopefully they RMC it in the near future though. Steel coasters provide a much enjoyable experience, but cost a lot more to build.
Maybe they should give The Beast a RMC makeover just like Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point. A mile-and-a-half long wooden roller coaster with a steel track. Every time it goes into a tunnel it does a barrel roll. You feel yourself twirling 360 degrees but you can’t see anything. The ride goes so fast, it only lasts two minutes and thirty seconds. They finally hit the brakes at the very end of the ride. They keep the name The Beast. It’s just new and improved.
I think it would be a great idea, but I think Kings Island would just rather keep The Beast. It’s an iconic ride, and they have put so much work and maintenance into it that it would be almost a waste RMC’ing it. If Kings Island did do that, then would be the least thing I would expect from them. I think it would be more likely they RMC The Racer instead. I’m not even sure if Kings Island would RMC any of their wooden coasters though because they all are good as is. Not only that, but as you said Cedar Point is only 3-ish hours away and they already have Steel Vengeance. I think Cedar Fair would rather give their parks a variety of coasters at different locations. You bring up a good point though, as an RMC’ed Beast would be probably one of the best coasters in the world.
@@itsdecentpovs2728 Maybe they could just keep it the way is, but give it an all steel track. No barrel rolls, but it just takes off after the first drop hill. It just hauls at 75 mph…goes through 5 or 6 tunnels…even going sideways at times. Redesign the track so that it doesn’t have a second lift hill. It just keeps going and going until the very end. They could have a company other than RMC do it. Same idea with a different style. That’s right! Cedar Fair, who has owned Cedar Point since 1870, bought King’s Island in 2006. I had forgotten.
I could see them doing something like that in a way since it would be an expensive investment, but there would be much less maintenance probably. I could see GCI doing that since from what I know of White Lightning at Fun Spot Orlando got a similar treatment.
I didn’t get to ride son of beast, but I’ve heard mixed opinions about it. The Beast is one amazing wooden coaster though, and one of the best night rides (if not the best) in the world.
I’ve heard it was very rough at some points mainly because of various potholes on the ride. Only if they could have RMC’ed it at the time to bring it back to life. RMC was a newer company at that time though.
Yeah, it’s a shame that the ride was kind of a bust. It had a lot of amazing achievements, but the ride was not very enjoyable from what I have heard. Also, the huge helixes after the first drop apparently sent people to the hospital after some accident the ride had.
In my opinion the Son of Beast was an epic coaster and the only one I have ever rode over a dozen times in a row 14 to be exact 13 of which I never left the front seat and never felt better after the 14 ride I hopped off long enough to use the bathroom eat a large LaRosa's pizza and went right back to the front seat for another 6 runs on it mind you this was in 2005 so it still had the loop and that was the last time I set foot in Kings Island as I have refused to go back since they removed the loop and ultimately tore it down
Really? That’s awesome actually! I bet it was awesome back in 1979. In my opinion it’s one of the best wooden coasters in the world, but compared to some of the other coasters we have today I think I would not consider it to be the best coaster in the world.
My folks live a few miles from KI and can see the Eiffel Tower from their driveway. I haven't been to KI in years, but it was my fav, and I doubt anything can beat that wooden frame.
I wish I lived closer to the park, but I’m a few states away. I can also agree that The Beast is probably one of my favorite wooden coasters I’ve been on. When was the last time you visited?
Oh wow, they have added a lot since you have been gone then lol. The whole park has changed and they added a lot. If you can I would check it out sometime as it now is pretty much a world-class theme park.
@@itsdecentpovs2728 I think it was already a world class park back then. People came from all over. I'm no longer interested in amusement parks and roller coasters, even The Beast, which I loved. I also loved the backwards Racer because you'd float out of the chair.
I guess you aren’t wrong. Lots of people did come to Kings Island for the Beast. That’s understandable though if you aren’t interested in amusement parks anymore. I only rode in the front on the Racer, but it was a very nice ride. Definitely a little rough like most of the wooden coasters nowadays, but not as bad as I was expecting before I rode it.
Yeah, the trim brakes added throughout the ride really make the ride much slower than it should be going. I’ve heard from people that without the trim brakes on the huge helix at the end it gave you insane lateral forces, but they added those trims a long time ago for the coaster.
The Beast is a great wooden coaster. Worth the trip to Kings Island to ride it in my opinion, and I wish I got another night ride on it before I left the park, but we were busy getting to other coasters at the park because it was our first time there.
Wow! I wonder how fast it rode back in the 1980s because I know over the past decade or two they added trim breaks which slowed the ride down a fair amount. That’s cool though, and I wish I could have experienced this coaster back in the glory days.
If you really want to get freaked out, sit in the back. The front people have to go slow. By the time the back gets there, people are already screaming and losing their shit. Best way to do a first ride on a coaster. Gives you more psychological damage than the front seat.
I really wanted to try the back at night, but we wanted to get other credits before the park closed. The front was really fun though, but the back was also probably an interesting experience. If I go back, I will try to get a back row ride.
You'll never get me in one of these (only the ones for children, and even then ...) but it is a beautifully built wooden rollercoaster. And it sounds awesome too. Thanks for taking me along, safely sitting in a chair overhere. I loved it :).
For sure! If you go up to Ohio for roller coasters it’s almost impossible to not ride this world-class wooden coaster! A great ride even though it can be a little janky in some spots especially when the ride speeds up.
Yeah, but people want to keep the ride wooden because then I guess it would ruin its charm, but it would probably be less pricey to maintain if they did an RMC track upgrade or a GCI refurbishment on the track.
Yeah, but I think it’s a long way off before they do an RMC conversion. They have already retracked the ride a year ago, and also Steel Vengenace at Cedar Point is only around 3 hours away. I would imagine they would like to have variety, but if the ride gets too hard to maintain I could definitely see an RMC conversion being an easy fix.
I hope you do, it’s such an amazing wooden coaster. One of the best in America I think especially because of the huge helix after the second lift hill.
Haha, I loved Millennium Force as well, it’s just those bugs are awful. I rode in the front and was covered with bugs by the end of the ride. It felt like nails hitting my skin, so I guess I will stick with riding the back row the next time I ride, but I might give it a second try.
Yeah, the camera glasses I have are not great with stabilization. I wish I could use my GoPro instead, but I don’t want to risk getting kicked out or banned from parks. Maybe in the future though. ;)
I agree, a lot of the brakes on the ride that were added I guess though were to slow the ride down since sometimes it used to go faster and would put too much stress on the tracks.
They re-tracked it in 2022 and that’s all I know about it. I’m not sure if they replaced the wooden railing on the ride though. It is certainly unique though as the railings span through most of the coaster.
Surprisingly I didn’t find it to be rough at all. I actually find the racer to be rougher instead. This ride was recently re-tracked though which definitely made it smoother, so if you rode this before the re-track in 2022 then I could see why.
A night ride on this would be insane. Honestly there are no lights on this ride except on the chainlift, so you would have no idea where you are going and what is happening making it 10 times better!
Haha, well I thought it would be worse and rougher later on. I’m happy that it wasn’t the case since I have ridden a fair amount of janky and rough wooden coasters.
I will have to plan a trip to Ohio so I can ride this beauty. Colossus, now Twisted Colossus might get jealous as Six Flags Magic Mountain is my home park but the Beast looks likes it’s worth the trip. Don’t worry Colossus/Twisted Colossus.. you will always be my first roller coaster love!
I loved Twisted Colossus when I went a few years ago. Definitely one of my highlights as a coaster enthusiast doing a sunset ride on it. I wish I rode the original colossus as well, but that got removed several years ago. The only ride I missed that I really wanted to go on was Tatsu (which was being repainted and remodeled that whole season back in 2021). Otherwise I got to ride some nice rides like X2 (huge bucket list coaster) at night which was an amazing experience as well. Wish I was closer to Magic Mountain since it is a nice park it just needs some of their rides not closed all the time lol. :)
@@itsdecentpovs2728 you should come back to CA and ride Tatsu. I was afraid to for a long time but now it’s a surprising smooth graceful ride but it’s also intense with that preztel loop. Oh and Colossus never really went away or got removed. It just got a makeover. The spirit of the classic still lives on. Riding Twisted Colossus still has that wooden roller coaster iconic look and feel… with a twist! 😃😃
I wish I could go back out, but I don’t have any plans of visiting there for right now. I’ll have to see if I can go next summer or the following summer.
It feels a lot steeper and you feel like you keep going down and down on the first drop. The second drop is a little boring, but it’s fun picking up speed when you turn into the huge helix. That’s probably my favorite part of the ride since I love laterals on wooden coasters.
I did not get to ride this ride before the re-track, but it definitely rode very smooth and very fast. I am glad Kings Island upkeeps this ride pretty well as it is an iconic attraction.
Europe is definitely on my bucket list especially for the coasters they have. I don’t know if I will be there anytime soon though, but it would definitely be cool to go there. Untamed is definitely a compact RMC that seems like a great ride though, so thanks for the recommendation. :)
I’m trying a new style for some of my newer videos. When I have time I will add timestamps of when the ride starts for some of my older videos. Sorry about that though.
I might be traveling to Europe in future years to ride some of the roller coasters, and this one is on my bucket list. It may might be as impressive or fast as Tonnerrre de Zeus, but it still packs a punch.
Probably! I honestly have never seen someone vomit and it hit someone else on the ride, but it sounds like it could happen. That would be an unpleasant experience to say the least.

It's been ages since I've been to King's Island, but this was the very first coaster I ever rode waaaaaay back 35+ years ago. I also had the front row seat for my first run, and I'll never forget it. They just don't make them like this anymore.
Yes, cuz that thing looks like a bad Home Depot project.
Of course they don’t. They’re WAY better!
I agree, rougher woodies sometimes give the out of control sensation that most coasters don’t provide. Don’t get me wrong, I love steel coasters but in my opinion wooden coasters have a special place in my heart.
The Beast: The biggest, baddest, longest, fastest rollercoaster in the world. The original tagline. The front seat is worth the wait.
For sure! The back is not half bad either. It provides a great ride in any row, but I would agree that the front is my favorite especially because it can be a little rougher in the back.
Row 17 is the best seat!
Hopefully I can come back to Kings Island in the upcoming years to get back on it. I really am curious to see how the back row is on this ride.
First big coaster I ever rode in opening year. For me, it was go big or go home as I was on a church bus trip.
That sounds fun, how did you like it?
i have road this coaster 108 times. it never gets old,. i first rode it in 1982, i was 10 years old..my most recent ride was yesterday 5/21/2024.i am 51 now.
Wow! How did it ride back then and how many times have you ridden it?
This must be the longest during rollercoaster ever. And the one with the most trees. A whole wood. 😂
The longest coaster ever I think is in Japan called “Steel Dragon 2000”. This one is definitely one of the longest coasters in the world and I think the longest wooden coaster at least.
4:35 sec long very fun best wood coaster ever
@sisfinley4091 Yeah, it’s very long and it’s impressive because it was built in the late 70s and it still holds the record for being the longest wooden coaster today.
The beast and the vortex were my 2 favorites at kings island, need to go back havnt been since 2001
Sadly they got rid of the vortex. Definitely sad, but I do think that Orion was a great addition to the park and is nice to have in their lineup.
Excellent ride, brilliant video.
I used to ride in the back seat and to me it was so uncomfortable. Riding in the front was much smoother I thought.@@itsdecentpovs2728
We rode at night last year, had to wait for drone and fireworks so 1030 pm we were on it while the park was closing. Night rides are amazing
That looked super fast. Back in the day the wooden roller coasters are the best, the fastest.
Yeah, it surprisingly maintained a lot of its speed. A more newer coaster reminds me of it not too far which is the Voyage at Holiday World. I really loved the speed sensation though and especially on the helix is where you really feel the speed of this ride.
My favorite coaster! The longest too. Most are over in 2 mins.
Most are probably under two minutes. This one would provide an amazing night ride because of its length. I was planning on riding this one at night, but I was still satisfied to get a sunset ride on this.
Loved this ride more than any coaster when it opened. Rode it all day one summer in 2000. Needed at c3-c4 fusion.
Wow, did you get to ride Son of Beast? That sounds great though. I know the ride has slightly been tamed because of the trims on mainly the second drop, but it still runs pretty well.
@@itsdecentpovs2728 Rode them both into the ground. Fusion be damned!
@thinkbeforyouvote That’s cool! I wish I got rerides on this coaster, but I wanted to check out some of the coasters while I was there. It probably ran much faster than it does now.
I so loved this ride. It's rough but it's fun.

Impressive roller coaster...over 4 minutes!
Yeah, it was really impressive and ahead of its time for a wooden coaster.
When I watched this, all I could think of was the mining-car scene from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. 😂
Haha I like that reference! It’s a nice ride and one of the best wooden coasters I have ridden. I still have a few wooden coasters that I have on my bucket list that I will hopefully be able to try in the next couple years.
Nothing rattles your bones like a wood roller coaster
Definitely, but this one doesn’t shake you around like some of the others I have ridden. It’s actually one of the smoother wooden coasters I’ve been on.

Wow this ride is still going, I remember going on this when it was new.
Yeah, it is surprising that it is still standing today.
I should have rode Diamondback and went back to this for my last few rides, but I watched the fireworks and rode the Racer instead for an extra credit before I left that night.
that's a wooden track, which makes for a bumpier ride. a lot of people prefer that over the newer smooth steel track coasters.

Thanks for watching, and I am glad you enjoyed the video! :)
I remember my first time on the Beast and it was a blast !
It still a classic, and I had a great first ride on it as well! It was one of the more memorable coasters there at Kings Island at least for me.
I remember getting in line about 4 time a day to ride this coaster
I could marathon it all day. It really was a fun coaster overall when I rode it.
An awesome ride 😎

I love The Beast!!!!!
Me too! It’s an iconic ride and a classic you just can’t miss if you visit Kings Island. :)
A true thrill ride. I miss son of beast too.
Was the largest wooden coaster with a loop.
Yeah, it’s a shame that the ride was kind of a bust. It had a lot of amazing achievements, but the ride was not very enjoyable from what I have heard. Also, the huge helixes after the first drop apparently sent people to the hospital after some accident the ride had.
In my opinion the Son of Beast was an epic coaster and the only one I have ever rode over a dozen times in a row 14 to be exact 13 of which I never left the front seat and never felt better after the 14 ride I hopped off long enough to use the bathroom eat a large LaRosa's pizza and went right back to the front seat for another 6 runs on it mind you this was in 2005 so it still had the loop and that was the last time I set foot in Kings Island as I have refused to go back since they removed the loop and ultimately tore it down
I road that the year it was new. Best coaster on the planet.
@@itsdecentpovs2728 maybe 1987?
Wow....... they slowed that puppy way down from when I rode it
Yeah, the trim brakes added throughout the ride really make the ride much slower than it should be going. I’ve heard from people that without the trim brakes on the huge helix at the end it gave you insane lateral forces, but they added those trims a long time ago for the coaster.
This coaster is amazingly awesome!!!!!!@
The Beast is a great wooden coaster. Worth the trip to Kings Island to ride it in my opinion, and I wish I got another night ride on it before I left the park, but we were busy getting to other coasters at the park because it was our first time there.
My first ride, I was probably 8 when we went in late 80s
Thank you for watching, and I am glad you enjoyed the POV! Hopefully I’ll have more content and POVs coming soon.

Now, that’s a roller coaster, I’ll have to venture to Ohio to ride this bad boy
For sure! If you go up to Ohio for roller coasters it’s almost impossible to not ride this world-class wooden coaster! A great ride even though it can be a little janky in some spots especially when the ride speeds up.
The Beast would benefit greatly with an RMC track upgrade
It would keep it going for years to come
Yeah, but people want to keep the ride wooden because then I guess it would ruin its charm, but it would probably be less pricey to maintain if they did an RMC track upgrade or a GCI refurbishment on the track.
they should really RMC this. It would be the best RMC conversion ever.
Wow i would ride this one. I love the wooden coasters and this one would knock my socks off
I hope you do, it’s such an amazing wooden coaster. One of the best in America I think especially because of the huge helix after the second lift hill.
Wow, what a ride!
It’s awesome! I wish I could have ridden it again that night, but one was enough for me. Definitely one of the better wooden coasters in the world.
A roller coaster ride without getting beat up by the real one.
Yep; the Son of Beast probably was painful on some of those turns. The Beast was a cool ride though and I liked how it was pretty terrain based.
The Beast was fun but my favorite is still Millennium Force at Cedar Point!
Haha, I loved Millennium Force as well, it’s just those bugs are awful. I rode in the front and was covered with bugs by the end of the ride. It felt like nails hitting my skin, so I guess I will stick with riding the back row the next time I ride, but I might give it a second try.
I have a T-shirt from the early 80’s that says “I tamed the beast”. They don’t sell them anymore
Lol I wish they still had that! I rarely get to buy merchandise from amusement parks, but if I saw that I would buy it on the spot for sure! 😆
Best coaster 🎢
I respect that opinion. :)
That was cool.
I agree, and thank you for watching. :)

I understand it had to be done, but I really dislike that abrupt brake at the end of the first straightaway.
I agree, a lot of the brakes on the ride that were added I guess though were to slow the ride down since sometimes it used to go faster and would put too much stress on the tracks.
Doesnt look like there has been much maintenance since I rode it in 1980. Warped lumber railing, etc.
They re-tracked it in 2022 and that’s all I know about it. I’m not sure if they replaced the wooden railing on the ride though. It is certainly unique though as the railings span through most of the coaster.
It was quite a wild ride 😊
For sure! Definitely one of my favorite wooden coasters. :)
damn that thing is like a runaway freight train.....

It’s at Kings Island in Mason Ohio. I would recommend checking out Cedar Point as well, but Kings Island alone would still be an amazing trip! :)
Roughest coaster I have ever ridden.
Surprisingly I didn’t find it to be rough at all. I actually find the racer to be rougher instead. This ride was recently re-tracked though which definitely made it smoother, so if you rode this before the re-track in 2022 then I could see why.
You must not have written very many roller coasters
a boy said get me outu here!
Lol give me the timestamp 😂
The night eide is insane
A night ride on this would be insane. Honestly there are no lights on this ride except on the chainlift, so you would have no idea where you are going and what is happening making it 10 times better!
Did he say it’s bumpy as they just left the station?? Boy does he have something coming or what?!
It's Descent: going down....still anazing though.
It feels a lot steeper and you feel like you keep going down and down on the first drop. The second drop is a little boring, but it’s fun picking up speed when you turn into the huge helix. That’s probably my favorite part of the ride since I love laterals on wooden coasters.
I don't know what I'm more afraid of, a rollercoaster made of wood, or people who ride a rollercoaster made of wood.
Haha, you shouldn’t be afraid of either! Wooden coasters can be some of the best coasters depending on what your standards are of a good coaster.
Any smoother since the re track?
