The big make or break for Exodus will be how they handle the time dilation ‘episodes’. I imagine that there are like several ‘chapters’ with large time jumps. Within each chapter you can do several missions but ultimately will have to do a larger mission that will jump time. You then see the results of your choices and what happened to the people you left in the past. How many chapters will there be? How will they manage and tie together the branching choices you make in each chapter? Will it lead to a definitive ending? Will your character still feel connected enough to the world as it ages for emotional impact or will you feel like an outsider? Its going to take some really amazing writing to pull it all off. I’m excited but also trying not to let my expectations get out of control.
Yeah, it seems more ambitious than Dragon Age 2 but I bet it won't be too dissimilar in structure (There are "Acts" with a handful of main missions and then a time jump between each act and your decisions carry into future acts).
I love that they have a novel to set up the world and lore. Mass Effect did this as well and it really drew me into the game having read the book before playing. Will be picking up the Exodus book as soon as I finish the book I am reading.
Definitely looking forward to how this works out. These folks have made some of my favorite games entertainment. I've always had a soft spot for sci-fi RPGs, so here's to hoping! It'll be cool to see how they handle time dilation. It's cool to see them not take the magic (aka lazy) instant travel approach.
You know, I really wanted to like andromeda, but the writing was just so bad. I found myself 20 minutes into the game thinking “I really don’t care about any of these people” and just stopped playing it. My brother was trying to tell me about it, and I didn’t even remember any of their names.
The biggest boon for this game in my eyes is that Drew Karpyshyn is the lead writer. That gives me hope, whereas the visuals so far do not. Personally, those faces the characters have are too close to Uncanny Valley for me. Something about bugged out eyes and squished forward skulls. It's weird. Really hope it's just the side effects of veing early in development and the polish tine will make it better. But right now - all of the characters are giving me the heebie-jeebies.
I'm not a big Sci-Fi fan, but this looks really good. Please, please, have deep story telling and romances with realistic group tension and conflict. Not everyone is going to get along in a room full of Alpha's. I'm hopeful for Exodus, Solasta II, New Arc Line and Civ 7. 2025 could be a much better year for games than 2024.
Its overly ambitious, the time dillation is cute but is hard to pull off, you need to do 20x more content/writting/story to account for various combinations, it gets out of hand FAST, curious to see how they handle it Otherwise it looks really good and great ideas, hopefully is a hitter!
Point of confusion; livestone is not going to have upgrades; Jun's gauntlet will and he can control livestone. He can manipulate livestone because he is half-celestial; if he were just a normal human it would not work.
I'm looking forward to this game. I do wonder if the player had created a female 'Jun' if they would have been able to get The Bear to join their crew, y'know since a bear would be so safe to be around if she encounters one. (yeah... I'm a smartass 😛) I even used the link that Exodus had sent to us and purchased the TTRPG book. I feel I'm getting quite invested into this universe. The book by Peter F. Hamilton EXODUS: The Archimedes Engine was an amazing read as well. I feel I can get lost in the lore of it all.
while it's not hyper realistic, the face designs are nowhere near close to disney cartoon failguard. It's looks like a natural progression looks of Mass Effect games.
Please be good, Please be GOOD!

Yup the time dilation portion is VERY interesting.
Super exciting stuff. SO happy to see Exodus getting so much eyes.

Yup definitely some creativity on display here.
So It's similar to Andromeda but might be written well? Sign me up!

20 *hours* not minutes.
Yup that's exactly what I was thinking.
Same. Terrible party members.
The premise of the archs is similar, but that's just surface-level. The story goes way beyond that.
I've started reading the Archimedes Engine and I'm already very into it.
The advanced human tech bit is reminiscent of Warframe, really dig that.
I still want a Jade Emperor 2.
That would be amazing.
Ooo SWTOR have the Best SW Stories

Thank you it said gameplay trailer, but it was just small clips and jump cuts 😂😂
Small clips and jump cuts of combat shooting and using the totally not omni blade stealth attacking
Yeah they need to show a more complete combat scenario.

the time dilation sounds cool. like Interstellar but as a game mechanic.
Yup hope they can pull it off properly.
Hoping this knocks it out of the park.

Yup really hoping the companions can have deep relationships with each other.
Where is exodus? Is it on steam or still too early?
It's not out yet but supposedly it will be on both consoles and PC.
To early no steam page yet
Mass effexodus

if they pull off the time dillation it will definitely feel like a MASSIVE achievement.
Great video. Specifically great breakdown, was excellent from start to finish. Really professional
Thank you!

He could also be considered a Uranic, which is a human changeling capable of interfacing with celestial technology.
@@pythonxz No. Jun is confirmed to be half-celstial and the novel is intentionally separate from the game.
@@spellandshield Understood. I only just learned about the Uranics anyway.

Love Death and Robots is better than Black Mirror
I feel this has a similar stylistic artstype like veilguard. Thats my biggest criticism so far
while it's not hyper realistic, the face designs are nowhere near close to disney cartoon failguard. It's looks like a natural progression looks of Mass Effect games.
@crozraven i think it's a step back from mass effect. It's closer to veilguard than mass effect imo
@crozraven i think its a step back from mass effect. Way closer to veilguars imo
Nah I think it's definitely better than Veilguard. The faces show a wider variety of emotions.
@SlanderedGaming that may be true but it's not photorealistic. It seems many games are taking this route though
Is the game going to be woke?
I fucking hope so, I don't want anyone who asks questions like this to enjoy anything
@ eww
can "Jun" be caked up? The bakery shortage in Veilguard.
Cool that you see older version of your custom character later tho
They danced around character creation but noted they are not ready to talk more about it yet.
