Esso was my favorite on MEO. I’m going to miss the old chemistry.
I don't mind Hynaken leaving cause his energy is always odd to me and he act like a fan every interview but Esso presence will be missed cause of his insight and wisdom he provides on so much in the industry and his ability to still keep his authenticity as a man

The problem that seems to keep happening in the podcast space is people want to be a BOSS but they don’t know how to do it. It’s more than just a word and title.

The episode of MEO that Joe Budden was on. Math asked Joe a few questions that was foreshadowing this breakup. He asked Joe for advice and Joe said the advice I have for you isn't to be said in front of everybody on the show. That stood out to me. I remember thinking, dam, these boys better have their contracts together.

Them napkin contracts ain’t worth the paper it was written on! To be honest they made the show Esso was the reason why I started watching but that Maf show from before these guys was trash!
These conversations only get weird when you have them later on instead of setting the boundaries from jump, here's the catch to that. Boundaries/expectation usually don't get set from the start because the person in charge of bringing everyone together will need favors, extra work/hours, moneys, connections, resources from you, while these things are very much needed/important to growth of these, they'll never be taken into consideration when it's time for compensation.
Nothing but miscommunication/ego/desperation/pride sprinkle some capitalism on that top of that, and the situation will always fall apart. Math will continue on with the podcast with much success since he's the face and the show already has the momentum, but these gentlemen definitely played a part in things.
We saw something similar happen with "Million dollars worth of game", the first check came in, and they wanted to cut DEV out, not knowing he was being CC'D on all the emails, now the second check has come, and it's a 100 million dollar deal. Sadly, life changing money that DEV won't be a part of, Due to being cut out for bigger shares early on.

Even though it was Math’s show the Barbershop atmosphere is what made it what it was.

Most older dudes chime in whenever something is said that strikes nerve, so they speak their wisdom on the fly so they don't forget which is one of the downfalls of aging. It's like a get down where ya mad at thing. I do however understand why you feel the way you do. I just happen to see it differently.
Esso was my guy! He would always have something to say that was insightful . Or just say some funny shyt that hurt my stomach! I immediately noticed and was saddened by his departure.
Esso's subscriber analogy is flawed. It's a lot harder to go from 0 to 200k subscribers than it is to go from 200k to 600k because by that point you'd already have the momentum to accumulate more and more subscribers. So Math actually put you guys on when the show started bubbling up, it just so happens that you guys came together at the right time to take the show to the next level.

What Esso said around 48:00 hit me. Im a multiple time adoptee, by the time I was five I already was on to Mom #3 and was already checked out. Just numb and nobody could tell me shit really. Never had a dad. People with parents really don’t know they have a privilege. Maybe it’s because their relationship with their parents have problems still. But parent problems aren’t like not-having-a-parent problems. In 27 that’s the first time I’ve seen someone with a mom and dad acknowledge their privilege so plainly. That shits the only thing that validates the lifestyle is orphans, adoptees, and foster kids live coming up. I’ve definitely been shitty to ppl and looking back it was because I had no guidance and was in foreign territory responsibility wise. My Brotha it absolutely matters. Measurables and metrics matter in business decisions. We're talking over a 40 percent growth in a matter of 8 months. That's not counting clicks and videos watched outside of subscribers. Those are the numbers that'll drive the company's direction while providing leverage when negotiating with investors. Personally, I began watching when Esso and Hynaken joined. It'll be interesting to see where Math goes with this.
I been a fan of Math Hoffa's work from the smack days so to see his elevation to where he is with the my expert opinion show today is nothing but inspiring to see but I hope you all can come to an agreement and work this out because all of you together speaking and giving your opinions is what makes the show special and 1 of a kind

I fuck with Math, but I understand by it being HIS podcast sometimes he can be a bit controlling of where the conversation goes because he dosen’t want to miss anything that’s important. Hynaken would oftentimes ask a question that would jump too far ahead when the guest is in telling their story, and Esso would sometimes miss the point of what Math is trying to elaborate on when connecting with the guest (specifically artists) because he’s coming from the mindset of someone in the business, the disconnect was getting better overtime, but every now and then you could tell Math was frustrated with their approach throughout various episodes.

Eso had me learning about hip hop contracts, big fan of Shampoo I'm a Howard Stern fan, Space Ghost I just met him today but he does all the videos that I click on. This show fits my life I didn't miss a beat clicking on this.
