Paul could have easily blown this guy out of the water with a few simple sheds...but he didn't, because he respects other's talents and is humble about his own, a skill I which more musicians had. How freaking cools is it to see one of the most amazing guitarist in the world sit down and jam with a total stranger for ten minutes!! You could see how much fun both of them were having! What an experience...
+Nikolai Megdanov Gilbert is clearly "leading" the conversation: he says something and the other guy has to answer "in the same context". More efforts needed I guess, as Ilias has to "understand" first.
+Hamza Benki oooo i understand all to well ...its just that my vocabulary is not so advanced as paul's....but i did my best ..and most importantly i had the time of my life ..and still do....people still watch this and the reactions are blowing me away....and think that i uploaded this for laughs....go figure..
weeeell.....in my defense...i dont get to play every day with a living guitar legend...its intimidating u know...lost 50% of my ability.lol...but i have to agree that having fun was all that mattered to me and also paul is very kind and gentle and i am guesing that he has taught worse players than me..so thats why he didnt laugh at my humble playing....thanks for the attention and the comment bro...
i was interviewing him for a greek guitar site and got to spend some time with him....we where on guitar shop....he was noodling and he was kind enough to let us jam with him....he is a real gentleman....
You can tell if a ''popular'' guitar player doesn't have ego issues...He mingles and plays with ordinary people....You never see Malmsteen, Van Halen or Vai do this
You are very mistaken as Seve Vai is concerned. Steve organize for many years kind of workshops looking for talented persons and just playing with "very ordinary" players :)
paul is playing a les paul in his spaceship one dvd in one song....and he still sounds like paul gilbert!!!i am playing the kerry king marshall though at that time i didnt have a clue where i was plugged in..i just wanted to jam with him so badly i didn't really care what kind of guitar i used or what kind of amp!!
I like this Paul Gilbert. Never heard of him, but now I can't stop watching his videos. He seems like a very nice guy and very talented and humbled. I also noticed that he has awesome teaching skills and love being able to help other musicians to improve and enjoy while learning.
I really appreciate the fact that legends like Paul or Viktor Smolskiy or Steve Vai or even the master Tony Iommi himself still play with ordinary people. It shows their rich inner culture and intellect. And you did a pretty good job there dude - I would pass out directly.
If Paul Gilbert were immortal he would take the time to give every person on the planet years of guitar lessons...... He's that nice and humble of a musician.
Dude you kept up well. I enjoyed the both of you!! Paul had a few more colors to paint with, but I enjoyed everything you put out! I would have been left in the dust by both of you. Thanks for sharing.
I think you did just fine - Paul Gilbert blows pretty much every other guitar player away, so you kept up a lot better than most, and had a fun doing it :)
Arthur ... ya he never tries to ''out-play'' other guitar players in ''one-on-ones'' .... like in the Marty vs. Paul vids Paul always made sure his guitar sound was not overshadowing his friend Marty's sound (Friedman)
Because you adore them, and you show them you listen to them, and you attempt their stuff as well. :D Also, mostly you are inspired by his music, so it is their music you practice in your garage.
Ilias was sitting with a bonafide giant and did pretty to keep the riffage from falling flat. Paul knows literally a million or more licks and thinks of the note character, names, positions, hundreds of rhythmic variations, in anticipation of whatever is played by him or whoever he is jamming with and plays the exact same way on any guitar, acoustic or electric.... insane. I saw Paul with Marty and a Japanese guitarist on a Japanese music show and Paul SLAYED THEM. It was like dad was out in the sports car and the kids could only run along side and wave....
Hey everybody before you commented on this jam, did you think about what PG's intention Did he compete with this guy? we all know that it's not. He simply loved people, especially musicians, he wanted to give back something to guitar society, and music society, so let's not compare anybody to anabody, that's not what PG wants to!
Hands up to you bro! I believe you had a fantastic time and had an unbelievable experience! Wish I can get as lucky as you. If I was there, Id would have probably froze and lose 100% of my abilities haha! Keep on playing bro! Cheers!
I'm a drummer, not a guitarist, but if I was trading licks with someone as respected as Gilbert on drums, I would only hope to do half as good as you. Awesome job.
Totally agree. A co worker of mine met paul after a Mr big show back in the days and said the same thing. He was the only band member that stayed around signing autographs with all the fans and taking picture. A true professional and master of his trade.
paul gilbert is paul gilbert, but his jam mate is just as badass... these guys are just having a great time playing... they're having a ball... rock on, brothers \m/
One of the best Paul Gilbert VS .... that I have seen! You had fun, and he helped bring stuff out of you I bet you never even thought you had! Well done...
I've meet PG in 2019 at Jakarta Blues Festival. He's wearing office suit with orange tie. He's nice to everyone especially his fans. You can see his demo session video in my channel..Anyway, stay healthy and regards from Indonesia...
Considering how short the phrases were and how quickly you had to react to one another, you couldn't have done better. I thought this was cool. Excellent job! If Paul says you did well, you did well. : ]
Dude.... Sooooooo amazing... Both of you... I like to see this kind of video, because Paul seems to be such a nice and friendly guy, for real! Best Regards from Brazil!!! :)
There is something about Paul Gilbert's tone that just doesn't sit right when tries to play slow with feel. Much better when he shreds n doesn't play blues. Joe Satch does blues with more warmth imho.
I thought that was an Ibanez Les Paul copy. But it doesn't really matter, Paul gets fantastic tone no matter what he's playing. You did great yourself, man.
Don't think about the competition man. Think about the lesson and experience you got. That's awesome, and I see you had some extra moves just by jamming along with him.
wow man this is amazing!!! what an opportunity!!! you are a really good guitarist and improviser lol my fingers would've fallen off if i attempted that!!!
Nice job sir! I love how Paul doesn't think he's better than you because he's famous & wouldn't do what some other gold chain wearing Strat lover would do and try to out shred you; he just plays along with the feel of it to make the jam sound better
Dude, I would have pooped myself too, I think that's why I was laughing! LOL Being in his presence would make me forget everything I know on the guitar.
You know, you're right. More to the point, he's not that the other guy is that bad at counting, it's just that Paul is so good at it. Other guy always like half a beat off, give 'r take, but Paul is spot on. I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out, it's pretty funny though.
If Paul plays guitar and trades licks with you, you have already won by just being there. One of my favorite players.
NoName Given Special
Paul is extremely clever here.. listen to how he allows him to play. the guys now a better guitarist
les paul gilbert
Hahahahaha!!
Literally translates to The Pablo Gilberto
Paul could have easily blown this guy out of the water with a few simple sheds...but he didn't, because he respects other's talents and is humble about his own, a skill I which more musicians had. How freaking cools is it to see one of the most amazing guitarist in the world sit down and jam with a total stranger for ten minutes!! You could see how much fun both of them were having! The best guitar player isn't always the fastest and cleanest. It's about what chords touch people's heart, that's the real and true challenge.
@@reachblowsdick7222missing the point of the initial comment, blah blah
It's funny how Paul is just having fun and the other guy is just trying to keep up
+Nikolai Megdanov hahahahahahahahahaahah! Less effort with Gilbert
+Nikolai Megdanov Gilbert is clearly "leading" the conversation: he says something and the other guy has to answer "in the same context". More efforts needed I guess, as Ilias has to "understand" first.

+antistres1 hahaha well man let me tell you that you did a killer job anyways. Keeping up against that monster is more than honorable
+Hamza Benki hahahahaha
Dont care if the orange guy plays better or worse than the GUITAR GOD on the left. I just feel envy for being able to jam along with PG
Paul is so down-to-earth knowing that at any point he could just smoke this guy and doesn't kinda
Rockin Roger This is not a contest. It's just a sound trading with a lot of fun. And....by a way, Paul Gilbert is a guitar god.
weeeell.....in my defense...i dont get to play every day with a living guitar legend...its intimidating u know...lost 50% of my ability.lol...but i have to agree that having fun was all that mattered to me and also paul is very kind and gentle and i am guesing that he has taught worse players than me..so thats why he didnt laugh at my humble playing....thanks for the attention and the comment bro...

Malmsteen is a total asshole:D
Kenny Ken Vai plays with people all the time...
Ninjanomikz Have you seen the video where he jams with Korn? That was pretty cool.
Ninjanomikz Only if you pay 3000
You are very mistaken as Seve Vai is concerned. Steve organize for many years kind of workshops looking for talented persons and just playing with "very ordinary" players :)
wow paul with different guitar still sounding like him.
So true!! I had the same thought!!
You haved comment what i want to comment
Paul thinking:"haha, Another soul crushed"..joking aside, you did pretty well!
While Paul is amazing, Ilias did a pretty badass job too!
Would love to jam with both of them anyday! :)
Talented and humble. that's why I respect Pau.l
paul is playing a les paul in his spaceship one dvd in one song....and he still sounds like paul gilbert!!!i am playing the kerry king marshall though at that time i didnt have a clue where i was plugged in..i just wanted to jam with him so badly i didn't really care what kind of guitar i used or what kind of amp!!

+Luis Echevarria Yeah he looks very peacefull and kind. And as you say he is probably one of the best guitar teacher in the world
I really appreciate the fact that legends like Paul or Viktor Smolskiy or Steve Vai or even the master Tony Iommi himself still play with ordinary people. It shows their rich inner culture and intellect. And you did a pretty good job there dude - I would pass out directly.

well done..I think if could jam with Pablo I would be so nervous I could not even hold a guitar
oh i just love famous ppl who are really down to earth, so much
I think you did just fine - Paul Gilbert blows pretty much every other guitar player away, so you kept up a lot better than most, and had a fun doing it :)
Arthur ... ya he never tries to ''out-play'' other guitar players in ''one-on-ones'' .... like in the Marty vs. Paul vids Paul always made sure his guitar sound was not overshadowing his friend Marty's sound (Friedman)
Hmm, I doubt that but if you say so. Oh and Nice attitude BTW - always good to respond to friendly banter with asshole comments. Good luck with that.
nice playing. I would have got too nervous and embarrassed after the first min and quit playing lol
I wouldn't have started playing haha
How clean a lick can be kept even with a les paul .....very well defined.....that is Paul Gilbert.....the strat guy has a long way to go.
PG undoubtedly one of teh most awesome, humble, down to earth musicians I have ever come across..
Paul Gilbert is a wonderful example of a magnificently talented musician who is humble when he meets his fans. Amazing person!!
why when people get to jam with guitar heroes, they play their own licks back to them. Star wars attack of the clones
Because you adore them, and you show them you listen to them, and you attempt their stuff as well. :D
Also, mostly you are inspired by his music, so it is their music you practice in your garage.
Amazing playing on both parts. Such an amazing thing, music being able to bring an instant connection and speak for itself. Good job man!
I love this cause they dont follow each others moves... Try and change it up between bars...awesome.
Ilias was sitting with a bonafide giant and did pretty to keep the riffage from falling flat. Paul knows literally a million or more licks and thinks of the note character, names, positions, hundreds of rhythmic variations, in anticipation of whatever is played by him or whoever he is jamming with and plays the exact same way on any guitar, acoustic or electric.... insane. Dude! How awesome it must be to be able to say, "I had the opportunity to trade licks w/an absolute master of Guitar!"...both nailed it and then some!
How Paul always keep his phrase within the bars shows how far superior player he is, just amazing.
Great playing. I jammed with Paul at his VIP lessons. This situation is so hard, I couldnt play at all. But you did it very great!
That is my favorite thing to do on guitar.
If I could meet another guitarist who was down I'd be stoked
Hey everybody before you commented on this jam, did you think about what PG's intention
Did he compete with this guy? we all know that it's not. He simply loved people, especially musicians, he wanted to give back something to guitar society, and music society, so let's not compare anybody to anabody, that's not what PG wants to!
Paul Gilbert is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet! I had the pleasure back in 99. An inspiring guy and a gentleman!
You sounded great! Just to be in a dialogue and maintain/sustain the exchange to the degree that you did speaks volumes.
Was Kim Kardashian sitting on your amp?
dude you totally rocked out, and are one lucky SOB for playing with one of the best guitarist to ever touch a guitar...
You both speak the same language. Paul just has more adjectives. Your playing was awesome, i really enjoyed this video, just wonderful
PG has so much enthusiasm, and seems such a down to earth guy
mpravo file!!!stathikes aksia dipla ston "megalo":-)
kales epituxies euxomai!!
The guy seems nervous. I dun blame him tho ^^ played some good licks, i mean i would have been nervous around such a nice and crazy player
+TheManwithafan dude , you are everywhere! lol
***** HAHA xD hey man
Hands up to you bro! I believe you had a fantastic time and had an unbelievable experience! Wish I can get as lucky as you. If I was there, Id would have probably froze and lose 100% of my abilities haha! Keep on playing bro! Cheers!

ぽーるさんのはトップがプレーンぽいな、しっかしええ音鳴らしておりますなあ流石のひとこと。いっつもカッチョいいBluesりっくが素敵!!
Gilbert can play anything and without the crappy effects!!!
Two awesome players. What a great experience!
Awesome! Great playing on both sides.
Very good job! Well done! And Paul..... no comments
You did great, jamming with a certified badboy
For some reason it always brings a smile to my face whenever I see Paul Gilbert in a jam session.
What model guitar is he playing?.... The Les Paul Gilbert?
paul gilbert is paul gilbert, but his jam mate is just as badass... these guys are just having a great time playing... they're having a ball... rock on, brothers \m/
You sounded so sick! in my own opinion, you both looked legendary.
You did great! Congrats, man! What a luck to jam with him! Great job!
One of the best Paul Gilbert VS .... that I have seen! You had fun, and he helped bring stuff out of you I bet you never even thought you had! Well done...
Paul Gilbert is awesome.
I thought you played great, but this proves that Paul Gilbert may be the coolest guitar slinger on the planet.. I love that guy.
Wow that guy with the strat really does hold his own! I'm really impressed :)
Paul is such a true professional... love this guy
I've meet PG in 2019 at Jakarta Blues Festival. He's wearing office suit with orange tie. He's nice to everyone especially his fans. You can see his demo session video in my channel..Anyway, stay healthy and regards from Indonesia...
Very cool video. I could not help but smile with you guys. I very much enjoyed this video.
Considering how short the phrases were and how quickly you had to react to one another, you couldn't have done better. I thought this was cool. Excellent job! If Paul says you did well, you did well. : ]
Is that a strat neck pickup the guy is playing? Sounds way better than the LP to my ears, I'm just talking the tone of course :-)
You are a really great player, I always come back to this video!
Dude.... Sooooooo amazing... Both of you... I like to see this kind of video, because Paul seems to be such a nice and friendly guy, for real! Best Regards from Brazil!!! :)
Were you using a fuzz? Loved your tone man
I wouldn't be able to play a powerchord with Paul sitting in front of me. Good job!
There is something about Paul Gilbert's tone that just doesn't sit right when tries to play slow with feel. Much better when he shreds n doesn't play blues. Joe Satch does blues with more warmth imho.
Jon Ginder : dork
I thought that was an Ibanez Les Paul copy. But it doesn't really matter, Paul gets fantastic tone no matter what he's playing. You did great yourself, man.
Don't think about the competition man. Think about the lesson and experience you got. That's awesome, and I see you had some extra moves just by jamming along with him.
May I ask, how did you manage to jam with Paul Gilbert?
too much pressure, i would get an heart attack in the same situation
wow man this is amazing!!! what an opportunity!!! you are a really good guitarist and improviser lol my fingers would've fallen off if i attempted that!!!
is that intro riff from any particular song?
The guy did a pretty good job at keeping up with Paul Gilbert. This type of jamming is a good way to get creative
Nice job sir! I love how Paul doesn't think he's better than you because he's famous & wouldn't do what some other gold chain wearing Strat lover would do and try to out shred you; he just plays along with the feel of it to make the jam sound better
Paul Fucking Gilbert Rules
5:38 ,dude looks around like "someone please cut the power"
In all honesty, he did very well, I would be done after about four licks.
What scale are they using?
Hahaha, It was fun to watch you too, congratulations guy, i like your playing ^^
So much fun! Pauls the coolest man on the planet i'm convinced.
This is one of my favorite videos on youtube. Paul Gilbert is the coolest.
Dude, I would have pooped myself too, I think that's why I was laughing! LOL Being in his presence would make me forget everything I know on the guitar.
Pretty nice Jam dude. I wonder how you managed to keep all of your guitar's knowledges in front of Paul seriously ! Lucky Bastard :D
Not many vids of Paul playing Paul out there. Some nice licks.
this is of those times that I have a big stupid smiley grin on my face when I listen to music. that's was great!
Ωραιο φραζαρισμα φιλε κι ωραιος ηχος...
Στη θεση σου δεν θα ειχα μπορεσει να παιξω ουτε δυο νοτες στη σειρα!!!
Where is this happening ? what city I mean
Ahah nice man! really nice jam man!! you really enjoy with Mr.Gilbert!
Does anyone know what the riff that the guy in the orange plays at 0:22
What a Awesome Jam !!! Loved it ............ GW
Classic man. Just beautiful!
It's one of my favorite things on guitar. Playing with some guitar players as well :)
great job keeping up with Paul! It's it's awesome
nice jam. paul gilbert is a great guitarist haha. very humble man. God bless him. and Godbless us all :)
Paul never stopped tapping his foot, that dudes leg just shook a few times. Good ol fun bro, thats all that matters. Thanks for the post.
You know, you're right. More to the point, he's not that the other guy is that bad at counting, it's just that Paul is so good at it. Other guy always like half a beat off, give 'r take, but Paul is spot on. I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out, it's pretty funny though.
