I was one of the people that went “who asked for this show? This character of all people”. Now I find this show to already be MUCH better than Obi Wan and Boba Fett in just about every way. I dare say, it might even be better than The Mandalorian for the sheer scale of it alone. It’s not the amount of planet locations that make the setting feel huge, it’s the people

The writing and dialogue on this show is just brilliant. I don’t get how some people think it’s boring.

Boring is not the right word but slow going yes but that is not bad. They build up and after all there are 12 episodes and there will be 2 seasons.

I think imo, nothing happens. It took 3eps to explain and close a very simple arc. Also I don’t rlly care for any of the characters except the droid and andor. I also think the flashbacks don’t do anything for me.

It's not that the lazer bounced around and hit him, he fell and hit his head. That's it.

It's kinda surprising how many reactors are surprised by it or just don't even think of the possibility. I've even seen some thinking that maybe the headbutt back shoot the guy's nose back into his brain lol. They're on concrete, guy falls back and hits the soft tender backside of his skull on hard concrete. Dies. It happens in real life. You hear stories about that happening quite often where a guy will just punch a guy and he falls over, hits the floor wrong, and dies. I guess it's because you rarely ever see that play out in movies, and tied to that is how they seem to show in all action movies how a hard blow to the head just knocks a guy out safely, when in reality if you hit someone in the head hard enough to knock them out, they're not just going to peacefully nap and wake up fine. That's permanent brain damage.

Who ever is in charge of this show, I suggest Lucasfilm hire him/her/they as the counselor, cause they did a wonderful job on this show. It's absolutely different from anything else we saw up until this point. The tone, cinematography, storytelling, character involvement they're all on point. And look what happens if you shoot in location instead of Volume. I love the dark tone of it. So far I love this show.

We were promised a dark, gritty, spy thriller and we got it! Seriously, opening the episode with Cassian straight up executing a man point blank!!! Did not think Disney or Lucasfilm would have the balls to green light a tv series like this and I’m so happy to be proven wrong.
This looked like Star Wars, Blade Runner, and Cyberpunk 2077!

This first episode really gives me hope that this is going to be the dark, gritty series I've been hoping it will be. It is obviously gonna have some levity and humor to it, but they don't seem to be doing it at the expense of the atmosphere.
Not translating the Kenari is an interesting choice, but somehow we can still tell what they are saying.
Additionally the sets look great so far, this world legitimately feels lived in.

  • @juvandy
    @juvandy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

We're waiting on episode 10 now but I came back to this. The last point about Cassian shooting the guy at the very beginning is a really important signal of both his intelligence/desperation as well as the reality of the time. Scenes like that always remind me of the beginning of Heat when Pacino is explaining that after 'Slick' pops the one guard, the rest of the team kills all of the guards because 'what difference does it make? They're all going up for murder one anyway, so why leave a living witness?'
It's remarkably bold (and mature) of Disney to start the series this way. It tells us immediately just how high the stakes are going to be, how dark the story is going to be, and how intelligent (and ruthless) Cassian is. Of course, it also links directly to his character in Rogue One, and that also is setting that standard right from the start.

The new disney plus series, Star Wars Andor, is hands down the best show since mandalorian. I think it may actually be better in some ways. It's just really good. Hopefully, it can contain just as good throughout all 12 episodes this season.
But, the first flashback scene wasn't jarring. If you pay close attention, B-2EMO calls Cassian Andor, Kassa, when he is sleeping and it transitions into the flashback on his homeworld when he is just about 12-13 years old.

So overall I’m enjoying it. But I will say…besides a few moments I was not quite fully invested in the story until episode 3. I think the acting, dialogue, effects, music, and sets/scenery are next level top notch stuff. But I will say the first two episodes felt like 1/4 of a complete episode because of how abruptly and weird they ended. So I think it was smart to put out the three episodes.
First two episodes were rather boring to me minus the opening sequence at the brothel and alleyway murders and a few moments here and there. I think there were parts that were really gripping but other parts felt like they were really taking their time. Usually I don’t mind a slow burn but because I had no idea of the overarching plot I should be caring about until the end of episode 2 the first two were kind of boring at times because I just simply didn’t care about some things because nothing told me I should.
I didn’t know why I should care about certain scenes because they were just a hair too vague for my liking and went on just a moment too long without really moving the story along in my opinion.
And as much as I appreciate them assuming the audience is smart enough to follow…I would have liked just a few more hints as to why certain scenes and characters were important.
Even though I have quite a bit of negative things to say my opinions on the show so far are more positive than negative. I am someone who really appreciates all of the working parts to cinema and this show is really incredible in terms of cinematography, acting, wardrobe, music, special effects(cgi and makeup), etc.

You hear those sounds comming out of the actors' mouths? They're words, together they make phrases, phrases out of a script that make up a plot, a story, if you have trounle keeping up with the sound, try turning on the subtitles and you can read the words, I personally watch most things subtitled
The words you see, are meant to be heard, they're not just time fodder until you get to the next action scene you can go "head empty" to
