Ash facing Trip in the first round of the League was quite shocking.

The fact she wasn't into these girly stuff like contests and showcases, and she focused more on battling and became a champion. Now she is stronger than every pokegirl and almost each one of Ash's rival and arguably Alain.

Well the thing is that rillaboom is competitive while none of hers really are.... But his rillaboom also doesn't have it's hidden ability.

Kudos to you and Zac for this listing. The Unova ones were b.s. to me, and my favorites were Ash winning the Alola League, and the AmourShipping kiss.

Nah the most shocking moment was how BAD Ash was in Unova. Like damn his track record was better in Kanto when he first started out

ash catching dragonite was the wildest thing for me, like journeys was hyping ash out to be a powerful menace even in the beginning.
Bro, Number 10 is actually pretty good because it hits home in a sense. Back in the day, I remember having 'rivals' of sorts in school to see who could do the best on our grades and whatnot. Almost like an Ash vs. Gary/Paul or Goku vs. Vegeta thing (instead of Pokemon battles and planet wrecking fights; it was a battle of the minds lol). That kind of motivation keeps you going, but then you graduate high school...eventually go to college and more often than not going somewhere different than your 'rival.'
I think the thing to learn from Gary leaving battling behind is that it's good to have someone pushing you to be better because you refuse to lose to them. However, life goes on and eventually the goals you have aren't the same as your rivals. From there, you have to look inside of yourself to find your own motivation and goals to keep pushing further.
Even better is that even without Gary in the world of battling, he still found a way to motivate Ash on a couple of occasions like going to Sinnoh and even his letter to Ash before his 3rd match against Brandon.
I felt jealous when Serena kissed Ash. even after all this years I feel disappointing. idk why...

What about Krabby/Kingler's Round 1 sweep in the Kanto League? Basically every battle we had seen throughout the series at that point had been a nailbiter, but then in Ash's most important battle yet he sends out his Krabby which had never even battled before and it evolves mid-battle and completes a 3-0 sweep! Still one of my favorite moments to this day because it's just so out of nowhere
Charizard disobeying Ash in the Indigo League still annoys me. Ash then does realize he needs to learn better and not be such a sore loser in the next episode.
greninja release ain't that bad it's either everybody dies in kalos or ash just let's greninja do his job
I don't know how it would fit on the scale of shocking moments but the entire Litten's mentor pokemon Stoutland dying section was truly shocking to me. Not that it was fading, that was a given and kind of had to happen, but that they went so far as to both produce this episode for a kids show (which was ballsy) and to lean heavily into the symbolism of Litten's depression as well. They could have skipped the entire episode and just had Litten show up looking for a new mentor and Ash, after following it and finding out that Stoutland isn't around anymore, catching it to take on that role. Instead they made a very moving episode which was wonderful but a bit surprising due to the gravity of the story.

My problem with the Greninja release is that while I get why the writers did this since Greninja's potential would've gone to waste had he simply sat at Oak's lab, it should also apply to his other Pokemon who had insane potential like Charizard, Infernape, Sceptile, Lycanroc etc. Like this just felt so forced. We had no setup leading upto that release. Suddenly Greninja senses the giant roots. And there's no explanation as to why. It's like they wanted him out of Ash's team just for the sake of it.
The worst part is that Greninja is the ONLY one who can sense the roots, not Zygarde who *GOT RID OF THE VINES A FEW EPISODES PRIOR*
@@BisonGaming3334 Totally agree. Made no sense that Zygarde, literally one of the most powerful Pokemon in existence needed the help of a Greninja to detect the vines.

Him beating Cynthia is by far his best achievement!
I really liked as well how Ash being Alola champion was recognised in the world coronation series masters tournament, as it allowed Ash to be on even footing with all the other champions who were the strongest trainers in their respective regions, except for my boy Alain.
I hope we're going to get a video of the best Pokémon episodes of all time in your opinion. On the other hand, maybe do a video for the best episode of each series because we have 25 series. Also, I'd love to see a video of the top 10 most funniest episodes too!

I feel you mystic when you say that about Brock and Misty! I couldnt watch kanto and johto anime on the tv back then because i didnt had the channel but i watch in vhs a few episodes (now i have already saw all) and hoen anime i could only watch on saturday mornings. So Sinnoh anime was the one i was attached the most and in the last episodes i cried my ass out when Dawn leaves and after Brock leaves too, it was really hard for me! Other moments i feel were shocking beside the one i already metioned were Ash leaving charizard, ash battle aginst Tobias (the fact a "normal" trainer had two mythical pokemon (at least, because we still dont know the rest of the team) just amazed me) and yeah the first unova episode... that guy Trip...
I remember wanting Sparky to electrocute Charizard to get him to fight back
One thing that always shocked me was when Grovile evolved because he was the first of Ash’s starters to reach there final stage sense Charizar, and it happens very suddenly and late in the advanced generation.
Releasing buterfree should’ve been on this list, maybe not in number 1, but I still wanted it to be on this list

For me it has to be goh catching suicue the way he did. and after beating darkrai which was shocking in itself was that Tobios had a latios and probably a hole team of legendary and mythical Pokemon.
One thing I would have done for honorable mentions would have been all the banned episodes. Surprising what Japan will do for a show meant mostly for kids.
I think the top 10 most shocking moments in the anime are 10, Charizard makes Ash loss against Ritchie 9, Gary retiring after his battle with Ash 8, Pikachu lossing to Liv 5 Snivy 7, Ash lossing to Cameron 6, Misty and Brock leaving 5, Ash lossing the Kalos league 4, Cynthia saying she would Retire then not after ash win 3, Serena kisses Ash 2, Ash winning the Alola League 1, Ash release Greninja.
Now that I think of it, what would Ash have done in Alola if he won the Kalos League? Would he compete in the Alola League like in the actual anime? Would he take on the World Coronation Series early?

Lowkey that Naruto fanfic plug was hilarious. Graduating from the Academy with Sealing Ninjutsu is like graduating from Middle School by demonstrating advanced Calculus.
Greninja's release was not only shocking, but also one of the worst, most inexcusable and unacceptable stunts the writers have *EVER* pulled in XY and the anime as a whole. Same goes for the Kalos League after all the hype surrounding it
What's worse is that they didn't even take any proper steps to rectify those outrages
Greninja returned in Journeys, he should have eliminated the last of those plants and returned home with Ash. He could have even kept training and mentoring Lucario at Cerise Park or reunited with his other teammates at Oak's. Heck, he could have even joined the Masters 8 action
This also ties into the Kalos League finals being rectified. With Alain in the picture, the Alola league definitely wasn't enough to soothe the outrage the Kalos league unleashed. Greninja coming back could have meant we'd finally get the long overdue rematch between Ash and Alain in the Masters 8 so Greninja AND Ash could settle the score and get some closure. They deserved it. And yet Journeys couldn't even pay attention to that obvious opportunity to fix what XY ruined
I miss Misty and Brock even thought he did appered as a cameon on Team Rocket radio show will still miss him till now Brock should come to watch Ash battle agaits Leon.😎

1. Tobias, a random trainer with a full team of mythical and legendaries made just to defeat ash
2. ash owning paul's chimchar or the ash vs paul

4:06 Yes, I agree that this was a stupid way to start Ash’s first battle in Unova! Even if Pikachu was Not fulling powered and Ash was Caught off guard. I couldn’t stand Trip when he was First introduced this battle was Insulting.

One moment that blew my mind was Froakie evolving. Kanto: Charmander fully evolved, Bulbasaur chose not to evolve, Squirtle never showed any signs of evolution. Johto: Cyndaquil evolved, Chikorita evolved, Totodile never showed any signs of evolution. Hoenn: Treecko fully evolved, Torkoal can’t evolve, Corphish never showed any signs of evolution. Sinnoh: Turtwig fully evolved, Chimchar fully evolved, Buizel never showed any signs of evolution. Unova: Tepig evolved, Snivy didn’t evolve (shrug), Oshawott never showed any signs of evolution. Then Kalos came and BAM!!! Froakie evolves!!!!!!

For me personally, I would have to disagree with Ash losing to Alain being a shocker, to be completely honest. Alain had battled against legendary Pokemon, a champion, and even defeated 10 mega evolved Pokemon in a row concluding with him defeating a member of the elite four, so I went in not expecting Ash to be able to win. Speaking of expectations, I think that's the main reason why exactly people got so shocked about it and are still salty to this day: people had such insanely high expectations for Ash to win at that point and were extremely hyped to see him finally get to pull it off, which ultimately left people disappointed because they had too high of expectations for this in the first place, given his final opponent
The Ash VS Ritchie battle has always annoyed me because Charizard disobeyed Ash despite the fact that he had all eight Gym Badges from Kanto. Is having every badge in the region not supposed to make every Pokemon obey?
What about Leon׳s base charizard beating Alan’s mega charizard x?
Ash's loss in the Kalos League and Greninja's release weren't really shocking if you watch anime for long enough
Feel like Ashs loss to Alain was kind of shocking. It felt like the first Gen where Ash had it figured out, his battling was a lot better than it had ever been, every member of his team was quite powerful, he even had a pseudo legendary on his team for the first time. It kind of just felt wasteful to have all this build up only for him to lose yet again. And when he became champion next generation in Alola, it didn't really feel that earned to me. Because let's be honest, Alain could probably wreck Kukui as well and become Alola champion as easily as Ash did.
I was surprised to see Brock came back to the Hoenn region and yeah did not like that Ash let Greninja go though either

I wanna say few things..
1) in indigo league, it wasn't just because Charizard didn't obey Ash the match was weird...referee disqualifying Squirtle because he had gone to sleep...team rocket stole half of the episode (I really hated them back then)...they could have just shown Richie is better.
2) tbh I never liked Trip and Cameron...even I agree that Trip actually a pretty strong trainer but to me Cameron is all time worst rival of Ash.
3) next up my opinion is going to be controversial...Ash vs Cynthia...to me the last battle of Garchomp vs M.Lucario was nothing but a boxing match( we have seen much more intense battles in past, Ash vs Cynthia is nothing compare to those)...that whole battle was disappointment...wanted Infernape got Lucario; wanted mega vs mega got Dmax vs mega...in my opinion writers let Ash won that match!
